Rest and rotation casts a huge shadow over Wednesday’s events, until one particular Liverpool player produced 23 minutes of magic.

The Fantasy world went into meltdown when teamsheets were released, with a cast of big hitters either benched or rested completely.

Among the worst hit appeared to be the 49.0% of managers who had made Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) most owned player. The free-scoring midfielder was named only among the substitutes for the visit to Stoke City.

More than 200,000 managers made him the second most popular transfer target ahead of Gameweek 14 – trailing only Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata – while a further 8.7% handed the Egyptian the captaincy and promptly endured 67 minutes of despair until Jurgen Klopp finally introduced Salah from the bench.

The Reds had been holding on to a tenuous 1-0 lead given to them by Sadio Mane’s goal from a Dominic Solanke cross before Salah weaved his magic, hitting a brace that brought in 11 vital points – with two bonus points adding to the haul.

Mane and Emre Can provided the assists as Salah’s amazing scoring run continued. He now has three braces from the last four Gameweeks and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 12 goals.

Salah’s prodigious season is starting to assume Suarez-like proportions, and he brings the added joy of extra points from goals and clean sheets that come from a midfielder.

In a season where big-hitting attackers are suffering patchy runs or rotation issues – compounded by Gameweek 14’s events – Salah serenely glides on, putting previous Liverpool mainstays such as Philippe Coutinho, also benched tonight, and Robert Firmino in the shade.

With Liverpool looking forward to a fine short-term schedule (bha EVE WBA Bou), Salah’s ownership will surely surge above 50% for Gameweek 15, and his captaincy levels will also continue on an upward curve.

Reds defence deliver on the road

Klopp’s defence held on for a sixth clean sheet of the season, with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez spared rotation to start in the full-back spots once again.

The Spaniard has now started nine straight league matches, while the young England international has been involved in eight of the last nine.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool boss confirmed post-match that Ragnar Klavan missed out at the bet365 Stadium through illness.

The Stoke shut-out was Liverpool’s first away from home and with those strong fixtures to come, investment in one of this cut-price pair – they’re both currently available for 4.6 – appears attractive.

As for Stoke, they’ve now conceded 29 goals.

Only West Ham, who were thrashed 4-0 tonight, have allowed more, and the Potters have now kept just two clean sheets from their 14 matches this season.

Much as we’d like to scour the Stoke defence for cut-price options, their current form and confidence is just too weak – even in the light of improving fixtures.

Jesus likely to start vs WHU?

He could do some serious damage if he starts against the worst defense in the league (30 goals conceded)

The champions league game is a dead rubber, so couldn't see him fielding a strong team for that, whereas for the Utd match I'd say he will start Sterling-Kun-Sané up front with KDB-Fernandinho-Silva midfield. So that would leave Jesus potentially starting the champs league, and who knows who will start v West Ham, so frustrating owning Man City players! Sterlings run of 0-1-2-1 will come soon too!

Which option? (any other suggestions are appreciated)
    A) Jesus, Vardy & Silva > Morata, Niasse & Sterling (-4)
    B) Jesus, Silva & Choupo > Niasse, Sterling & Hazard (-4)
    C) Jesus, Silva & Otamendi > Morata, Sterling & Moreno (-4)

Option A will allow me to go Daniels > Azpi the week after
Option B leaves me with a frontline of Kane, Vardy & Niasse
Option C will allow me to go Daniels > Christensen the week after

    Morning.

I got two free transfers and 0,6 in the coffins but not much of an idea what to do for the next gameweek.

    DDG Speroni
    Azpi Daniels Mee Kiko Moreno
    Salah Sane Sterling Richa RLC
    Kane Morata Niasse

I only really need to move Speroni out for a playing second keeper but not sure if there are any secure ones below 4.5 at the minute.

No need to shift Speroni, DDG will play every week.

Morning all. Had an awful GW, falling over 100K in OR. Plans were to sell Jesus, Silva and Tarroll (I realise the risk before WHU but I'm sick of Pep and those two players' form).

    Pope.
    Azpi. Daniels. Ward. Moreno.
    Salah. Silva. C'Moting.
    Kane. Morata. Jesus.

Subs: Elliott. Tarroll. Gross. Kiko. 1.0 ITB. 2 FT.

Was thinking ditching Jesus and Tarroll for Hazard and Niasse or even Jesus, Tarroll, Silva for Fabregas, Sane/Coutinho and Niasse.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Silva is a useless waste of space and his price is plummetting. He's out.

Yeah that double transfer seems the flavour of the GW. Just don't feel happy spending almost 22mil on Chelsea attack... Would rather some good City coverage for Hammers or even double up on Liverpool who are starting to score for fun.

Regardless of whether he starts like those 8 from the last 10 he was available for, plus a goal off the bench?

Said it two GWs ago, said it again just before GW 14, they Sterling rotation is an absolute myth. People are taking hits to remove one of the best value for money midfielders in the game, it's madness!

He's basically an 8.0 Man City striker, in form, and backed by his manager. But ooohhh no what if he misses a game every 12, it would be a disaster.

A is delicious. Kiko is such a bap magnet and Pope has loads of great fixtures.

        Thanks Both,

        A) does feel good. Main issue is that I would probably bench Kiko this week for Naughton - whilst Dunk has Huddersfield.

Could do Pope and Dunk this week and then switch either Dunk or Naughton to Kiko the following week.

Could pay off, but maybe a waste of a transfer.....

Hang on - need my coffee.

Brighton have Huddersfield next week. Liverpool this week.

          A) it is......

Courtois. Solid 6pts and 0.4m cheaper.

DeGea and United will struggle without Jones and now Matic is injured I think. DeGea not worth 5.8m, hasn't been for a few weeks now

Early captain shout for next GW. I'm thinking Kane.

Not sure my heart can take any more Kane.

Salah(c) every week from now on out, unless things regress.

True. Can't really see the Salah train slowing down anytime soon

Kane this week for me. Watford can't defend, Davies and Trippier will be playing. 2 goals in 2 games so he doing fine. Having plenty of shots too.

Not touching Kane until the team start to click properly.

Salah probably my default option at this point, although Hazard against that Newcastle defence could be tempting too.

What are the chances Raheem starts v WHU? I’m clutching at straws a bit, but surely Sane won’t be risked the week before the derby when he’s on 4 bookings?

Thoughts on Jesus, Silva and TC to Niasse Hazard and Sterling?
