There’s no sign of the winter schedule slowing as Fantasy managers prepare for the first of seven Gameweeks in December.

Next up, then, we roll out our analysis of the top captaincy contenders for Gameweek 15, running through the current Captain Poll and Opta’s advanced stats before suggesting a differential (or two) to help resolve this ever-thorny dilemma.

The Captain Poll

At the time of writing, Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah are dead level on 21% at the summit, with our faith in both players strengthened by their midweek appearances off the bench.

Hazard and Chelsea team-mate Alvaro Morata look to dust themselves down after earning just a single point apiece in the 1-0 win over Swansea. The Belgian came into that match on the back of three goals and two assists in his previous four and should be fresh to terrorise the Newcastle backline at Stamford Bridge.

Morata, meanwhile, has two goals and a pair of assists in his last five but a 90-minute run-out on Wednesday earns him just 13% backing amid concerns over his pitch-time against the Magpies.

Fresh of his two-goal cameo on Wednesday night, Salah looks poised to run a shaky Brighton defence ragged. The leading scorer in Fantasy Premier League, the Egyptian now has seven goals in his past four appearances and has racked up six sets of double-digits in 12 starts.

Harry Kane (17%) makes it a three-horse race for the armband, having scored in back-to-back fixtures for the first time since Gameweek 7.

The Spurs striker faces off against a Watford defence who shipped four goals in midweek and boast the league’s worst home defensive record, conceding 15 times in front of their own fans. Kane has netted twice on his travels on three occasions this season and produced two goals and an assist in the corresponding fixture in 2016/17.

With the above-mentioned quartet claiming around three-quarters of the votes, there are a host of differential candidates to consider.

League leaders Manchester City offer plenty of big-hitting options at home to a West Ham outfit that have conceded more goals (30) than any other side.

Yet Pep Guardiola’s rotation continues to dent their points potential. Leroy Sane (2%) is back in contention for a starting spot after recovering from a midweek illness and has four sets of double-digits in his last five at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero (4%) has started the last three in all competitions, while Raheem Sterling (2%) has been named on the teamsheet in each of their last six.

Of the two, Sterling’s home average of 9.6 points per match (ppm) far exceeds the Argentine’s 6.5ppm at the Etihad Stadium for those prepared to gamble on Guardiola’s line-up.

With less than 1% backing, Alexis Sanchez (1%) could also tempt us as a differential candidate, despite a testing matchup with Manchester United.

The Chilean has been in supreme goal scoring form of late, notching in each of the past three Gameweeks and hosts a defence that have conceded twice to Huddersfield and Watford over their last three toad trips.

Taken from the Man City fan's forum site, Blue Moon:

    http://bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/News/Article.aspx?id=2266#.WiHQkkx0eRs

Leroy Sane is available again after missing the midweek victory against Southampton with a virus, whilst Benjamin Mendy and John Stones remain long-term absentees. Vincent Kompany, Sane and Fernandinho are all one booking away from a suspension that would rule them out of the Manchester derby next weekend, so manager Pep Guardiola is expected to make some changes on Sunday.

“We will see tomorrow,” he said. “Tomorrow we train and we will see what we can do.

“Vincent was two months injured, Fernandinho has played a lot of minutes - but the most important thing is West Ham.

“I am worried about the bookings, United is an important game, but West Ham is as well.

Predicted line-up: Ederson, Danilo, Mangala, Otamendi, Delph, Gundogan, D Silva, De Bruyne, B Silva, Sterling, Jesus

I've done Sané to Coutinho, but then, I don't have Salah.

Most if not all of Sané's yellow cards have been from talking back to the ref. Sané should start given that he's fresh, but with the instruction to keep his mouth shut!

Would hate to have a City attacker that doesn't play v West Ham, would be so painful. I think with so much against Sane playing I'll just get Sterling in for free, also gives me some funds to play around with too

I have the same dilemma... and at the same time we know Sané will murder Zabaleta if he starts!

            So tough.

Long term I think I prefer Sterling, cheaper too, so might just do it now too before another price rise

      2. We Will Klopp you
        • 9 Years

In fact I think I'll do it, price swing, prefer Sterling long term due to his greater goal threat and City's fans don't expect Sane to start, enough of a case there for me

It's such a tough call. I've been running with Sané and Sterling and it's been great, but owning Morata too that's two players on 4 YC's.

City can beat anyone but I didn't fancy going into next week with both mids. The uncertainty this week plus Sané dropping in price meant I had enough yesterday to get Coutinho @8.8m. I'd otherwise be looking at Pogba and Ramsey.

Good move imo, I think Coutinho will do well, would get him in but no City attack v West Ham means I'd be having a very early night on Sunday

Ha, yeah, having no attacking players against a team which has just conceded 4 to Everton would be a behind the sofa job!

              That's why it's such a tough decision;

              Keep
+ may start against West Ham and haul
              - may miss West Ham
              - still has 4 YC with potential 1 game ban in the future.

              Sell
+ Avoid potential 1 game ban before 1st Jan
              + maximise score in GW15
              - can backfire majorly if he starts

Who would your first sub be, Pompel? Surely worth starting Sané and having a decent sub rather than removing for a hit?

I'm not going to be hypocritical and say don't sell him when I have done (albeit for free). I'm just not sure I'd sell him for a hit. That said, I have Hazard who has the armband at the moment!

Sorry lad, do what feels best and don't beat yourself up if it backfires - it can go either way.

Extremely tough especially when sorting a defence. Sometimes have to give them the few weeks to make the return. Not sure I'd have full faith in palace defence but sakho helping out there. Watford fixtures improve post spurs. I think I'd keep Elliot and move speroni as think Elliot will gain control of number 1 spot again.

Would you consider Alonso and Fernandez out for Christensen and kiko? You could even get Mustafi at that price or do you definitely not want to lose Alonso. Think Christensen could be a great points haul over next few weeks and an enabler along with Mustafi and mee and kiko. I have those 4 myself now for defense. And have your 6 main attackers also along with Richardson.

      For tomorrow
      Elliott/Pope
      Mustafi/Christensen/Mee/kiko/Mbemba
      Haz/Salah/Sterling/Gross/Richardson

    (Elliot Wimmer Ward Carroll)

    1. G2G?
    2. Switch RLC (wba) > Wimmer (SWA)
    3. Anything worth a hit? (1.3 ITB)
Cheers and GL this w/e 🙂

If it's Sward I'd have him ahead of Wimmer. Otherwise G2G!

Spelliot owner here with no FTs, 0.5 ITB. Got my eye on Gomes as my next custodian, but don't want to take a hit to get him with Spurs visiting. What do you reckon?

    a) No hit, play 10 men and wait for next week

    b) Take a hit for Hennessey against wba and pray for a CS (worst case scenario really -2), then re-evaluate next week. Hennessey's a good short-term option at least.

Same boat. A. They were 2 points max per game anyway so that isn't going to make or break you in the leagues mid-way through the season

Wow cheers for the feedback, yeah I think spurs looking shaky at the back and Richarlison looks the real deal. All Watford know how to do is attack too!

niasse i guess, but not a great situation to be in every week. Also side note, imo Hazard should be first on the teamsheet for anyone playing a 3 5 2

Decided to ship Elliot. Even if he plays he's up against Chelsea, likely 1, max 2 pointer anyway.
