We now turn to our weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we look back at the previous Gameweek’s events, before preparing managers for the incoming round of fixtures.

As always, we’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and scan our Watchlist, before moving on to the current Scout line-up and our future captaincy plans.

Gameweek 17 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Chelsea vs NewcastleEden Hazard
Watford vs SpursAbdoulaye Doucoure
West Brom vs Crystal PalaceMamadou Sakho
Leicester vs BurnleyRiyad Mahrez
Everton vs HuddersfieldDominic Calvert-Lewin
Brighton vs LiverpoolPhilippe Coutinho
Stoke vs SwanseaXherdan Shaqiri
Arsenal vs Man UnitedDavid de Gea
Bournemouth vs SouthamptonRyan Bertrand
Man City vs West HamDavid Silva

Eden Hazard’s 22 points and third MoTM award put him joint fourth for these gongs, behind Harry Kane (four), Kevin De Bruyne (four) and Mohamed Salah (six).

This was the Belgian’s third double-figure haul in six weeks, with his form showing little sign of hitting the buffers, given the schedule of fixtures to come.

Philippe Coutinho also collected 22 points against Brighton before his midweek hat-trick in Europe.

Both players regularly flirt with bonus points, find favour with the Sky match reporters and have the fixtures to thrive. When you factor in that they only have a combined ownership of 10.3%, they appear to be essential acquisitions for managers bidding to make up ground.

Gameweek 17 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 25 points or more in bonus for the season.

In this section I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I believe present strong options for the forthcoming six Gameweeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form, and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in the right direction.

Notes

Another solid week puts me in my highest position of the season so far – 259th.

The main reason for that was giving Eden Hazard the armband for a huge 44-point return.

The only real negative of my week was the dismissal of Davison Sanchez. Facing a three-match suspension, I moved him out for Kyle Walker on Sunday, who picked up seven points in the win over West Ham, despite conceding, thanks to his passing bonus.

Looking ahead, I want to get Philippe Coutinho back into my team. Selling the misfiring Leroy Sane is the obvious move, but unfortunately I’m 0.2 away from a straight swap.

I may ship Walker straight out for the fit-again Phil Jones to afford the move, although I’m hesitant considering the number of transfers I’m now getting through.

I’m still above the average and aware the overhaul is only a couple of months away, but with Christmas rotation, injuries and individual captain days to worry about, I feel like I should be squirrelling them away.

The fixtures arrive thick and fast, with another Double Gameweek coming in 18, so I’ll remain flexible for now and see what early surprises crop up.

Captain Plan
Sat 9th – Kane (STK)
Sun 10th – Salah (EVE)
Tues 12th – Hazard (hud)
Weds 13th – Salah (WBA)

Template if i saw one. Would probably go with Cout over Richarlison with Lacazette and save two transfers for the Double GameWeek coming up. Alternativly save two and do the opposite in two gw and then back, barring injuries.

    Who to bench?

    A) Otamendi (mun)

    B) Kiko (bur)

If I bench Ota I will have 4 players (Pope, Ward, Kiko & Richarlison) in the Bur vs Wat game.

Although not expecting anything much from Ota this week City haven’t been keeping clean sheets and I doubt he scores against United.

    Appreciate your thoughts! 🙂

I reckon Chelsea play a fairly default side v W Ham as it's a tough derby, then they rotate for the long midweek trip to Hudd as they will probably think they can get through that with some fringe players (a risk of course).

Depends on your whole team. If you don’t have any serious problems to solve, then it’s a good move — for at least three GWs. After that, you could easily switch back to Sterling. 🙂

Hmm risky to captain Hazard then?

Had his rest so more likely to come off if they’re ahead

Does 'holding back' mean not trying 100%, or does it mean he was actually holding his back?

Just reporting what I’ve read. It’s not scaremongering it’s having all information possible. I own him too so it’s not malicious!

Does 'Holding back for Arsenal' mean he won't be risked until the Arsenal game, or does it mean Rob Holding is available to play for Arsenal?

Afternoon people - Anything required or G2G?

    DDG
    Gomez - Daniels - Jones
    Hazard (C) - Richarlison - Salah - RLC - Sterling
    Kane (VC) - Morata

    DCalvert - Duffy - Lowton

Hoping someone can offer some suggestions as I'm quite torn at the moment. 2FTs and 0.1m ITB.

    Courtois/Elliot
    Ota/Monreal/Daniels/Ward/Simpson
    Salah/Silva/Richarlison/Gross/T.Carrol
    Kane/Morata/Vardy

    A) Silva/Vardy>Haz/DCL
    B) Kane/T.Carrol/Silva > Coutinho/Hazard/DCL (-4)
    C) Any other opinions?

Thanks for any help offered, and all the best for the weekend!

      Lovely team.

Is Vardy > Firmino possible? If yes, go for it. 😉

Appreciate the comment considering your rank mate!
Prudent to hold a transfer with the games coming thick and fast. Vardy>Firm is doable.

My rank's just a number, but thanks!

Think I'd do this then: Vardy > Firmino + roll the other FT.

          Cheers

Downgrade Alonso, then upgrade Dunk first, Naughton next. 🙂

Your front 8 is good. You can think of ditching Foster too. 🙂

Silva, Carroll, Elliott, Simpson, Vardy all would have question marks for me. Agree with Firmino instead of Vardy.

        * DSilva will deliver. Think I'm going to buy him back after GW18.
        * RLC's a better option than Tarroll, but it's not a very important switch atm.
        * Elliot isn't NEW number one choice, but he [Keyser] got a premium GK [Courtouis], so Elliot's not a problem imo.
*If Simpson's nailed, he could be hold for now.
        * Already wrote what I think about Vardy's case. 🙂

Argh just make the decision for me.
Silva>Coutinho or not for a hit?!

I know he’s playing but will he score more than 4 more points than Cout?!

    Pope
    Alonso, Smalling, Ward, Duffy
    Hazard (c), Salah, Silva, RLC
    Kane, Morata

Will you be happy with no City exposure? Long-term the Coutinho move will likely pay dividends.

You would think so with the defensive solidity that he brings. Man Utd are far more solid at the back when he plays.
