Willian returns to the Chelsea starting line-up and dazzles as the Blues ease to a 3-1 victory at Huddersfield Town.

The Brazilian was given just his second start in nine Gameweeks as part of a fluid Chelsea front three, with Pedro also drafted in to flank Eden Hazard in a central role.

The absence of Alvaro Morata with a back problem proved the catalyst for change from Antonio Conte and now the Chelsea boss, and Fantasy managers alike, will ponder whether the striker slots straight back in for Sunday’s meeting with Southampton.

Willian and Pedro will be difficult to leave out after Tuesday’s display.

The former produced a goal and two assists to amass 16 points in Fantasy Premier League, while Pedro also found the net – his third of the campaign.

Hazard was full of nice touches, but his recent goal threat seemed muted in the new system – he mustered just one shot, though did create three key passes, including a big chance missed by Pedro.

However, the difference in Chelsea’s football from Saturday’s defeat at West Ham – even with the creativity of Cesc Fabregas left on the bench – was there for all to see.

Huddersfield could not live with the movement and interchange of passing between the three front players, ensuring that Conte was glowing post-match.

“We have to continue trying to play this type of football, because tonight I think my players enjoyed playing this type of football, dominating the game, creating many chances with great combination play between our strikers.”

So where does this leave Morata?

He was sold by 663,000+ managers heading into Tuesday’s deadline. The striker has already suffered another 30,000 transfers out – more than any other player – as we career towards Gameweek 18.

Goals and points for the likes of Roberto Firmino or Alexandre Lacazette would surely only accelerate those sales, particularly now that Morata’s start against the Saints will be questioned.

The Spaniard could easily slot into the central role, with Hazard shifting left and Willian and Pedro vying for the spot on the right. However, if Morata is feeling the pace and his back, Conte has no real incentive to re-introduce the striker following Tuesday’s performance.

Christensen makes timely exit

A late goal from the Terriers’ Laurent Depoitre was the only blot on the Chelsea copybook.

The substitute’s header means that Conte’s defence now has just a single clean sheet from their last five Gameweeks, a fact that clearly frustrates the manager…

“We must improve in this aspect, because keeping a clean sheet is always important for our goalkeeper, for our defenders, for the whole team.”

As it was, two of Chelsea’s defensive options still profited from Tuesday’s win.

Marcos Alonso recorded a first assist of the season with his cross for Willian’s opener. That was just his second attacking return from the last 15 Gameweeks.

Elsewhere, Andreas Christensen marked his seventh successive Gameweek start with a fourth clean sheet.

The 21-year-old was hooked on 79 minutes – for the second time in three Gameweeks – which meant he avoided conceding Depoitre’s late strike.

It was a stroke of fortune for his 189,000+ owners, with Conte’s decision to withdraw him also indicating that Christensen is being spared for a continued run in the starting XI.

He is occupying the central role in Conte’s back three and, with David Luiz still nursing a knee problem and also seemingly out of favour, the Dane looks set to keep his starting berth.

Around him, rotation continued, with Gary Cahill dropping to the bench to make way for Antonio Rudiger. Meanwhile, Victor Moses was re-installed ahead of Davide Zappacosta down the right.

We should expect further changes for the Saints’ visit, with Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta perhaps the only pair assured of their starts. Having played just 55 minutes of the Blues’ previous two in all competitions, Alonso may also retain his spot on the teamsheet.

Just realized that my streak of (at least) 8 green arrows was ruined last GW when I fell... 1062 places. That is kind of annoying.
Had a terrible start, but the line of green arrows was making me feel a bit better :/

Big night for my team after I hit the free hit just before deadline. Needing big scores from DDG, otamendi, sterling, coutinho, martial, son, Austin & Kane (c)

    Anyone else use free hit?

    1. Jsadler95
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 2 months ago

Don’t really see the point in using a free hit at this stage imo. Rather wait for a heavy blank GW as you’re garanteed extra points then when you trade in players who’re playing in that blank GW.

You can successfully deploy it any week. I think someone here gained a great score using it a couple of weeks ago.

        1. Pep says
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 2 months ago

Yes but for every winner like the guy who aced it, there will be a thousand losers who didn't get the players in that hauled that week.

This guy dropped Salah for Coutinho for example. I wouldn't have done that.

          1. Jsadler95
            • 9 Years
            8 years, 2 months ago

This, it’s just a risk. Whereas what i’m suggesting isn’t, it’s just a guarantee of extra points.

            1. Pep says
              • 10 Years
              8 years, 2 months ago

Ya, it's the guarantee of points and the comfort in knowing you don't have to plan transfers for 7 or 8 weeks before the big blank and have them getting injured and what not

I get that people may feel like it’s worth it if their team has bad fixtures or something but for me seems a lot more logical to do it on a blank GW. Pretty sure I remember advising a guy not to do it the a few weeks back and his regular team scored like 60 points and his free hit was like 29. Invested in Spurs big and they didn’t perform.

There is a lot of luck involved with not using it in a reduced gw. It is a game after all so just felt more fun to do it now

I do agree with what you’re saying but I couldn’t decide what to do with morata and Ramsey and I was at risk of only fielding 9 plus there was a few punts with great games like son and martial so I decided to go for it. Will see if it pays off. The sensible thing would’ve been to wait for the reduced game week but who knows how that will pan out

        1. Jsadler95
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 2 months ago

Yeah fair enough man, the team looks solid, though wouldn’t be surprised if Sterling is on the bench tonight though think Sane is more likely for B Silva. I’m sure you’ll be alright. Do like the Son pick, really good player and honestly been baffled why he hasn’t been getting more games recently because he’s a quality goal scorer, gives Spurs another option from Kane for goals. 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-2-1 seems so much more sensible to me for Spurs line up with Eriksen deeper in the second line up.

When are people using their chips? Is it a reasonable plan to start drafting in Spurs & West Ham players now, and then using free hit for their blank, so that you'll have them after for the dgw?

    1. Chenku╰☆╮
      • 11 Years

Just the opposite. Plan to free hit during dgw, so you dont need all those whm players afterwards.

Nah, I'd rather hold my free hit and keep my team for the upcoming blank GW. I'll have Kane and Masuako and possibly Adrian. Might bring Son or Eriksen in for the dgw, depending on form and that. I don't think having 6 players from West Ham and Spurs is a great idea anyway, there are better options around

    4. Stats Don\'t Lie
      • 11 Years

Realistically, I'll probably only have 3/4 of their players combined. Something like adrian, masuaku, kane. Strongly doubt many players will play both games though.

      • 8 Years

Free hit - big blank GW to guarantee extra points, not just the one with Spurs and West Ham
Triple Captain - Double GW with the best fixtures
Bench Boost - Double GW preferably but may just use it on a week with excellent bench fixtures.

Seems to have dipped stats wise but with those fixtures he may be worth a shout

Fair enough, I personally think he's fairly nailed on from what I've seen, he's been one of our best players and started the last 3.

I agree but he’s only started 4 out of his last 8, over this period you want as many “nailed” players as possible.

I will be keeping an eye on him though, cheers

Doucouré has a few goals to his name for 5.3 or whatever it is he costs. As nailed as nailed can be.

Gray is a decent pick imo. Bit selfish and has the manager's confidence.

If Rich and Morata come back soon I feel you will regret this move, as you probabley have quite a lot invested in them to buy them back will hurt

      Seriously?

Against Palace? Can’t see there being many goals there and points spread between him, Vardy and Gray

if watford had mahrez and vardy instead of deeney and richarlison (finishing wise) it would have been about 2-5 yesterday. palace without sakho are there for the taking

Sure. You might make up the points you lose
In the BGW for not fielding a full team in the DGW.

Playing subs will be important in GW21 due to rotation. Spurs and WHam players won’t play so if you fill the bench with them you’ll have no subs coming in.

have needed to play RLC in each of the last 4 gameweeks. last time he didn't feature was when he actually scored. soon as the wildcard comes he's becoming milivojevic

He’s a 4.5 midfielder and supposed to be on the bench for the most of the time, depending on your squad depth. Why remove him? 🙂

Nahh just leave him unless you need the extra. He’s likely to get CS’s soon, have great fixtures until GW27 and him and Morata link well. He’s likely to get some assists as he still puts in a few crosses a game.
