Dugout Discussion – Man City vs Spurs

Saturday’s events end with the headline act, as leaders Manchester City host Spurs at the Etihad Stadium.

The big team news is undoubtedly the omission of David Silva, reportedly due to “personal reasons”. We have no further explanation as yet for a player who was the most signed ahead of Gameweek 18, with over 278,000 drafting him in.

Silva had returned four goals from his previous four Gameweeks and his absence will be felt by City, with İlkay Gündogan coming in to replace the Spaniard.

For Spurs, Dele Alli returns to the starting line-up as expected, though Danny Rose plays back-to-back league matches for the first time this season, with Ben Davies kept on the bench. Kieran Trippier returns at right-back.

Intriguingly, two of the most sold players this week – Leroy Sane (sold by 166,000) and Harry Kane (sold by 135,000) – are in opposition and will be under scrutiny.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Give me one good reason why i should pay 2m more to get KDB over Silva?.(dont think there is imo)

    Silva has one less goal than KDB despite missing 2 matches. (both tied on assists)

      Kane ditchers out there look to have made the right call. Burnley and Southampton (sterner away) then a blank in next 3 Gw, doesn't bode well.

        I ditched, invested the money in Silva and Aguero.

        Aguero looked on it v Swansea so thought he would be back in the open play goals, plus loves goals v Spurs. Shame he went off before the pen.

        Silva's omission was annoying, given no notice beforehand, but these things happen.

          As long as I have Ogbana, Jones and Daniels (+Huneim) I shud be ok

          No point wasting a transfer right when bigger fires to pat out (i.e. non performing forwards)...switch out for a heavy midfield...
