The first of two Sunday afternoon matches gets underway at 2.15pm as West Bromwich Albion welcome Manchester United to The Hawthorns.

Back on the scoresheet in the midweek win over Bournemouth, Romelu Lukaku is the second top captain pick for Gameweek 18, handed the armband by 14.9% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Jesse Lingard continues in the visitors’ starting XI and remains an overlooked midfield option – priced at 5.9 and owned by just 2%, he’s produced 12 and 15 points in his last two on the road.

Although the arrival of Alan Pardew has instilled some resilience to the Baggies’ backline – they’ve conceded just one goal in three – the midlands outfit remain toothless in attack and have yet to find the net under their new manager.

That lack of cutting edge bodes well for David de Gea’s 43% owners, then, as the Spaniard looks to steer his side to an eleventh clean sheet of the season.

Jose Mourinho also retains Phil Jones on the teamsheet today – nine of their 10 clean sheets have came in the 12 matches that the former Blackburn man has started this season.

    Which quartet would be best?

    A. Dunk, Sane, Hazard, Morata,
    B. Jones, Sterling, KDB, Morata, or
    C. Dunk, Sterling, KDB, Lukaku?

In defence, I have Courtois and Otamendi but no United cover.

I believe that you should lose points for conceding a penalty. What do you guys reckon? I actually thought that you DID until about last season or something, only realised you didn't when one of my players conceded one and went unpunished.

To use a recent example. Isn't it a bit raw that Henderson conceded a penalty against Brighton, it's converted and his entire defence and goalkeeper lost the 4/5 points for their clean sheet - through absolutely no fault of their own, but though HIS error... Yet Henderson only loses one point for losing his clean sheet. Shouldn't HE be more harshly effected points wise than his entire back 4 and goalkeeper are!?

Seems reasonable considering you lose points for an own goal and GKs get points for saving penalties.

It could be seen as unfair double jeopardy though if your defender lost 4 clean sheet points and another 2/3 for conceding the penalty.

      1. nobwak
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

Maybe apply it only to midfielders and forwards.

Maybe apply it to everyone, but if your defences clean sheet is lost to a solitary penalty then it still counts as a clean sheet, but the player than conceded the penalty's clean sheet points are cancelled out by the loss of points for conceding the penalty... If that makes sense?

I know it's complicated, but it seems... Fairer?

Seems insane that say, Lukaku, can concede a penalty and go ENTIRELY uneffected by it points wise, whilst the whole defence and De Gea lose points.
