The curtain falls on Gameweek 18 under the lights of Goodison Park, as a rejuvenated Everton take on an ailing Swansea City.

In Fantasy terms, the focus is quite definitely on the home side and, in particular, their two strikers.

Against the odds, Wayne Rooney is currently revived as a Fantasy option. Perhaps benefitting from the malaise suffered by the premium-priced forward options, Rooney’s 7.5 price tag has attracted over 271,000 new owners ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Rooney goes into tonight’s contest on the back of five goals and an assist from his last four Gameweeks – all from a No 10 role behind lone striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 20-year-old is also a factor in tonight’s match. Backed by over 80,000 new owners and now in 560,000 squads, Calvert-Lewin will bid to further his CV as our third striker “enabler”. He boasts three assists and a goal from his last five Gameweek starts.

But with three clean sheets from their last four Gameweeks, the Toffees defence also demands attention.

In particular, both goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and right-back Jonjoe Kenny will be auditioning for further transfer attention tonight. They were signed by 21,000+ and 62000+ ahead of Swansea’s visit in anticipation of yet another shut-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

have to lol at my own transfers this week ... -16 to bring in Mariapa, Silva, Adrian (Benched), Gray (Benched), Chistensen (Benched)
ended up with only Christensen playing

I totally agree with your reasoning for not having two Chelsea-defenders. But I still can't understand why you buy two Chelsea-defenders and then put one of them on the bench in such a fixture. If you're not playing both at home against Southampton, when will you play both? Will Christensen just be a bench-warmer in your team?

I went from Azpi t> Azpi+Alonso > Alonso+Chtistensen with the funds to then buy Ota after the Spurs match
I generally make the transfers for indirect reasons, as opposed to the current gw ... so the actual team layout is not decided by the transfers.

Last couple of weeks, and this, I have ended up using my first two subs anyway ... so those players weren't total outcasts!

it's the way I play the game ... just need to get more juice out of my team whilst giving away 1 to 1.5 points per player
The consequential higher SV means I can have better players - and I also always have a fully fit squad
(TV 107.1 / SV 105.6) ... I've got an extra 5M to spend over my rivals on the next WC

That was for Supercup? Wasn't sure if they missed one or had DGW early that season. Spurs and Hammers don't have much appeal. Prob 1-1 between themselves.

I will make sure to have at least 4 for the DGW. Currently have 2 (Kane / Ogbonna) and will bring in 2 more in wk 22, hopefully with 2 FTs or maybe a -4. I love the appeal of a good DGW. I think Eriksen may be one and perhaps Arnautovic or Lanzini depending on form of my midfielders...

Thoughts on Depoitre and DLC to rotate in that second striker spot, with Kane and a great Midfield + Defence, also helps if it doesn't work out I'll have a wildcard to sort it out.

Looking at doing Morata, RLC, Richarlison > DCL, Sterling, Pogba for -4

Understand why they are - value for money and all, but he has 12 league goals already in a "bad" season, and is always capable of an explosive score. Good (c) option IMO.

Hazard could also rip through Everton, they didn't look that solid today. Williams / Holgate not a great CB partnership IMO.

Stupid response. He's not a "fraud" because of the position he's playing in...were Sanchez' goals last year a fraud because he played as a striker? What about Salah's position this year, surely he wouldn't have scored so many from a CB position? You get my point...

Any suggestions on what to do with this lot?

Hazard Salah Coutinho Sterling (VC) RLC
    Lukaku (C) Morata

True, would be a push to get Kane back in.

2 games in 2 days though...I know it's Kane, but for any player you would think that's a bit much in terms of recovery.

Llorente gotta be seeing some minutes / or Son up top.

        1. Ibracadabra
          • 16 Years

Poch won't rest Kane. TOT are home to Wimbledon in the third round on the 7th. That is obviously the game he misses with Llorente starting. He will start both PL games. He has completed 90 minutes in 6 straight weeks. He gets a rest from Boxing Day to the 2nd and will play the 2nd and 4th and rest on the 7th. It's pretty straightforward, I think. Llorente will come on against his former club Swansea if it's wrapped up in the 60th-70th.

I'm nervous about Son's gametime generally so will see how TOT look over the next 2 matches. I own Ogbonna and Kane, and will add 2 more that gameweek (hopefully through two free transfers). I think 4 will be plenty. Both teams have very reasonable fixtures afterwards (especially West Ham), so if I do have 2 free transfers I MAY push it to 5 players with a -4 by bringing Adrian in or something...

I'd have Luka or Morata over Firm and ditch Haz

Not a huge Rooney fan but would love if he overtook Shearer in the all time pl scorers table.
Although I hate this rewriting of history, Greavsie is the real champ with 367 English top flight goals.

    Firmino to Agüero )-4)?

I already have KDB & Sterling. Funny feeling this is the weekend Agüero bangs in 5.

Aguero is nursing a heel injury and his starts are inconsistent. I prefer Lukaku but Aguero is high risk/high reward of course could work but I wouldn't reco it.

so what are we all thinking of Rooney, a good pick or just chasing points now some easy games have passed and tougher games to come?

      Chasing points

Probably chasing points but form > fixtures all day long.

I got him in this week and happy to keep him until at least the DGW.

Not exactly a big loss if you get him and he doesn't fire as there is not exactly the best options up top currently.

he was lucky to get any points tonight. misses a penalty and manages to score an assist from it, gets an assist from a simple pass to siggy who is out on the wing, who then runs 20 yards and scores, gets a goal from a pen that siggy wanted to take from a tackle that was clearly outside the box. then gets 3 bonus points too. and of course he's in 3 of the teams ahead of me in my ML. not bitter much
