The curtain falls on Gameweek 18 under the lights of Goodison Park, as a rejuvenated Everton take on an ailing Swansea City.

In Fantasy terms, the focus is quite definitely on the home side and, in particular, their two strikers.

Against the odds, Wayne Rooney is currently revived as a Fantasy option. Perhaps benefitting from the malaise suffered by the premium-priced forward options, Rooney’s 7.5 price tag has attracted over 271,000 new owners ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Rooney goes into tonight’s contest on the back of five goals and an assist from his last four Gameweeks – all from a No 10 role behind lone striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 20-year-old is also a factor in tonight’s match. Backed by over 80,000 new owners and now in 560,000 squads, Calvert-Lewin will bid to further his CV as our third striker “enabler”. He boasts three assists and a goal from his last five Gameweek starts.

But with three clean sheets from their last four Gameweeks, the Toffees defence also demands attention.

In particular, both goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and right-back Jonjoe Kenny will be auditioning for further transfer attention tonight. They were signed by 21,000+ and 62000+ ahead of Swansea’s visit in anticipation of yet another shut-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

YES!!!! I did it! i really did it! or rooney did it for me :D. First he screw my hopes by missing that stupid penalty, then he get's an assist and my hope turned, then another! and can you believe it he really got a goal in the end!. My miserable 9 point on 6 players WITH -8 points (total of 1 point gained after 6 players played) turned into 60 - 8 points and a total of 52 with 11 players. Liverpool (which i am a fan of) gave me almost 40 points alone with firmino, salah and coutinho. Then out of the blue Rooney is the one saving me and i dont even like that guy and it's funny how he plays for the only team (after united) that i don't want to win games, but today i'm really really happy for it :D. Weird what this game can do to you 😀

    1FT, 0.2 ITB

    Pope
    Christensen - Otamendi - Jones
    Richarlison - Salah - Sterling - Hazard
    DCL - Kane - Morata

you need some differentials in your team , its hard to make ground when all the players ahead of you have most of the same players , i'm in the same boat unfortunately 🙁

Agreed Lugs, which is why i'm considering Rich + Morata > Pogba + Firmino next GW, nobody in my ML has Pogba. My defence is better than theirs as well, and yet i reap no rewards ever. It's just becoming very tedious this season, no fun at all.

55 isn't great but it's still above average. Just try and pick the right captain. That's a good team there.

Your team looks good but very cookie cutter. Basically the team most players would name as optimal 3-4 weeks ago.. My guess is you get players in a week or two late. So take a look on the fixture list and try to be ahead of the curve on good differentials. An example could be Morata and RLC to Austin and Pogba.

      1. Salah’s Sonnet
        • 14 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

I mainly bring in players as soon they show form, so that could be a gameweek after they've just played, so i'm never late hopping onto players. 3-4 weeks ago? I wouldn't say any of my players are out dated?
That's a good idea, but definitely don't like Charlie Austin's chances, Pogba i will bring in though 🙂

I might be wrong, was just my initial thought considering your good team but mediocre rank. The team isn't outdated per se, but I think most would consider an optimal team more mid heavy right now, and you are a few GWs late there. GL going forward!

I have the same team except Coutinho and Daniels instead of Sterling and Mustafi. My Rank is 58k, and was 39k two weeks ago, so like you, I have had a couple of red arrows of late. Yet, not too bad. I think we have good teams, and while we may need to ditch either Morata or Kane for mids, I wouldn’t rush into that. Our teams become less flexible then. I want a city mid, and you should just sit tight. It’s a very solid team.

Rooney looks great for mid value forward. He's got some tough fixture coming up but I wouldn't rule him out over that. He's also scored against these teams before and I think under Sam, he's doing really well.

Better cash in all the non-performing premium forwards and bring him such valued forward and invest the rest where the points are, i.e. midfield and defense.

    1. noquarternt

If you feel you are rather settled with your forwards, then I guess that's something that's stopping you from getting him, mainly because the FT/ -4 is not worth recruiting him.

For managers like me, I have 2 FTs and am seriously contemplating a switch from the traditional 3-4-3 formation to 4-5-1/ 3-5-2, making sure that I start all my 5 midfielders and rotate between a budget striker and a defender.

Hence, Rooney brings great value to my team.

I'm not very settled, I've got Kane Abraham and DCL, not really happy with any apart from DCL!

Can't upgrade Abraham to him and wont be losing Kane before the double, so maybe in the future, but not right now.

          Definitely an option though.

In my view, it's a bit of a waste to keep all the cash in the stash if it's just solely for that and playing the waiting game when the points are out there for grabs.

But of course, it depends on the circumstances of each fantasy football manager.

I’ve got this situation. Can’t sell Coutinho. He is fantastic. Fantasy gold, too.

Does this call for a wildcard or should I save it for another week or two?

    DDG, Elliot)
    Ota, Christensen, Mee, Kenny, Duffy
    Haz, Salah, Richarli, Shaqiri, RLC
    Kane, Morata, Niasse
    1 FT, 1m ITB

    Much appreciated !

Thanks. Yup, but saving the second WC for the DGW preparation to be honest.

So I am debating selling Kane for the double game week if he/spurs don’t play well this weekend. He plays one of the last matches of the day on Saturday and has the early kick off on Tuesday which tells me there will be rotation. The money could be spent on performing midfielders like kdb and hazard.

Also what is people’s take on Watford Brighton this weekend? I have rich and gross but want to bring in pogba. Who do I sacrifice? Neither playing well but Watford are dire at the back at th moment and with deeney out, rich may step up.

Given Spurs’ recent form, I can’t see Kane being benched.
Wouldn’t TC him, but he is definitely a must have in Gw 22 for me...

Minutes managed then? If he plays ninety in the first game he won’t be playing ninety in the second. If I don’t tc him now, when do I use it? Will use free hit and bench boost in other two dgw. Could save it for last week of the season I suppose

It very early days to say what order is best at this point.
My current gameplan is B.B and TC for the two DGWs later on in the season and the FH chip in one of the blank weeks.

Might do Kane + RLC to Austin + KDB after the cup games for hits! Seems crazy I know but don't see Kane doing much at BUR tbh, then he has Soton followeed by blank gw. Prob use FH for the DGW!

he's been harbouring an ankle injury for quite a number of weeks. he still seems to play week in and out regardless though. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Saw something earlier about it being an ongoing injury that he's had for a while.

Tough fixtures for most of my players next GW!!
    Suggestions/advice please..

    DDG
    Alonso / Ota / Kola / Jones / (Kiko)
Salah / Haz / Sterling / Richarlison (RLC)
    Morata / Firmino (DCL)

    1 FT // 0.6 ITB

    1) Transfer suggestions?
    A) Kiko to Masuaku / Ogbonna
    B) Kola to someone!! ( I may keep Kola as I have a strange feeling Arsene will play him v Salah and he may nick a assist ot goal if he start)
    C) Any other transfer

    2) Captain suggestion?
    A) Sterling
    B) Salah
    C) Any other

Thanks for the Chelsea heads-up the other week. I switched my captain as a result.

You got a mention on the Scoutcast. Something about Hazard missing the Brighton game, or similar?
