Is now the time to give up on the premium strikers – we’re looking at you Harry – and throw our cash at a “power five” midfield?

It’s a big question that requires a crack team to answer.

Unfortunately, we only have the ScoutCast crew available, though we did manage to pull off a big loan signing to help us out.

Jay Eggersdorf – the current “live” Hall of Fame number one joins Jonty, Andy and Az as we take on the big topic of the day.

In the middle of another stunning season – Jay reveals his strategy behind his recent move to shed Kane on the back of another impressive points tally.

Then on 44 minutes, Jay’s phone is almost drained of life. Tickled by the on-camera events that follow, Jonty and Az struggle to hold it together to discuss the recruitment of Paul Pogba and the merits of West Ham investment before we look ahead to Gameweek 19.

It’s an intense 90-minutes, with the frivolity of this “festive” ScoutCast limited to silly jumpers and hats. Though we each get the opportunity to reveal our Christmas wish.

    What kind of extra points would make people think the free hit was a success?

    If I was to use it and gain 15 points on what my original team would have gotten would that be good?

    As it's only the first season of the free hit chip, I really don't know what the expected extra points are from it

        Gain 70-80 points? Don't think that's possible to be honest. You can't just look at the GW score, have to look at the score relative to what you would have gotten

          think of it as WC and i like to hit a 90 ptr which is above 40 pts than the avg 50 pts weely score

            You'd still always expect 30-40 points then weeks though, a 120 point GW would take a lot of luck surely

        Interesting, is there anywhere you can see the average points gained from free hit chips so far this season do you know?

          No idea. I have seen several use it already in my mini leagues
          One chap used it well and got 35pts over his original team. Many actually end up scoring similar or less. Which convinced me to play it in a blank week only as I cant bear the thought of my original team scoring more

      Technically, anything more than my original team would be a success. But personally, I'd like about 15-20 more than my original team/average, whichever is higher.

          The chances of gaining in blank GWs and DGWs in future might be higher, so it's a risk you have to take.

      Don't think you can look at it so narrowly. I'm using it in 22 (in the minority I know) as it allows me to sell Kane and not have to buy him back for the double. I don't need to waste transfers stocking up on Spurs/WHU players that I simply don't want in the medium term. I just have to hope that I get lucky with the players that I chose to go with!

        I'm looking at using it in GW22 for that reason too. Spurs do have a couple of good fixtures after the double though. I'd probably end up with Kane (c), Lanzini, Ogbonna, Sané and Sterling that week with or without using the free hit, so would only be using it for 6 players and it wouldn't change my captain. But as you said it would also save me transfers

          If it wouldn't chamge your captain it may not be worth playing it

          I'd want to free hit a captain in to increase the chance of it outscoring my original team personally

            Yeh the captain is a big part of it, in any week you wish to use the free hit though you could always transfer in the player you wish to captain with 2 FTs, that's what I'd never doing to get Kane

            Sorry I'm actually factoring in my 2 FTs. Only haven Ogbonna now. If I don't use the FH chip I will use 2 FTs to do Firmino + Hazard -> Kane (c) + Lanzini (or whatever whu mid looks best)

      Anything above 10 I would be ok with. 10 for the TC too. BB is the one I think I’d like to get the biggest boost with.

          I’d agree with 15 for the BB. That’s a decent return. This is the hardest one to quantify as a lot of people tend to load the bench with quality and have a mediocre first 11, and pretend it’s got them 25 or so points. Whatever makes them happy, I guess.

      One can realistically expect double what the normal Gw would be or the amount of extra DGW's you can create. Cannot use a TC or BP at the same time so limited in some respect.
      Therefore most valuable in DGw's or in a limited GW.
      Real value is you don't have to think about wrecking your side chasing DGw's and having crap fixtures to follow.

      Used mine in week 7.scored 102, gw avg 51, original team would have been less than 40.that was the week aguero had his car crash and morata went off early for 1 point.had both in my original team.
