Alvaro Morata serves a one-match ban for Chelsea’s trip to Everton, while West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, Burnley’s James Tarkowski, Brighton’s Shane Duffy and Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke also sit on the sidelines through suspension.

Wilfried Bony is out for Swansea City’s home clash with Palace but Shkodran Mustafi could return for Arsenal’s showdown against Liverpool tonight.

Here’s our summary of the key team news so far, with a whole host of big-name press conferences still to come later today.

Olivier Giroud is expected to miss Arsenal’s home clash against Liverpool tonight due to a hamstring injury but Francis Coquelin could shake off a knock to be in contention. Shkodran Mustafi may be available to return at centre-half following a thigh problem, so Nacho Monreal could move out of the middle and replace Ainsley Maitland-Niles at left-back.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp welcomes back Emre Can for the trip to the Emirates following the midfielder’s one-match ban. Joel Matip has returned to training but tonight’s match may come too soon for the centre-back. Sadio Mane is likely to come into contention for a recall but Daniel Sturridge (illness) is doubtful.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce could name an unchanged side for the home meeting with Chelsea, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the line once again.

The Blues will be without the suspended Alvaro Morata for the trip to Goodison Park after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Bournemouth. Pedro, Willian and Eden Hazard look set to start in attack in a 3-4-2-1 set-up.

Shane Duffy will sit out Brighton & Hove Albion’s home fixture against Watford due to suspension, so Uwe Hunemeier or Connor Goldson will deputise in central defence.

The Hornets are without the suspended Marvin Zeegelaar, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Troy Deeney but Tom Cleverley is available again after serving a one-match ban. Will Hughes will undergo a late fitness test having returned to training following a hamstring injury but Kiko Femenia remains sidelined.

David Silva missed Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur due to personal reasons, with Pep Guardiola hopefully set to provide an update on the midfielder in his press conference later this afternoon. Ilkay Gundogan could retain his start if the Spaniard is still unavailable. Vincent Kompany (muscle problem) and Eliaquim Mangala (head injury) are doubts for the home encounter against Bournemouth. Sergio Aguero looks the favourite to start up front after Gabriel Jesus played all 120 minutes in Tuesday night’s EFL Cup tie against Leicester City.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has a number of injury concerns ahead of the trip to the Etihad. Jermain Defoe is set to miss out, while Charlie Daniels, Harry Arter and Josh King are all doubtful.

Cedric Soares is expected to miss Southampton’s home clash against Huddersfield Town, while fellow full-back Ryan Bertrand is also a doubt. After only coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, Charlie Austin should be handed a recall against the Terriers.

Huddersfield head coach David Wagner will be without the suspended Jonathan Hogg for the trip to St Mary’s, while Elias Kachunga has been ruled out for eight to 12 weeks with a knee injury. Danny Williams and Tom Ince could be handed recalls, though Chris Lowe remains a concern with a foot injury.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes revealed that Erik Pieters and Kurt Zouma are both very doubtful for the home fixture against West Bromwich Albion. Charlie Adam will be assessed after picking up a hip problem, while Jese Rodriguez will need time to build up his fitness following a recent leave of absence due to personal reasons.

Alan Pardew revealed Matt Phillips and Nacer Chadli are likely to be in the travelling party for the trip to the bet365 Stadium. Gareth Barry is expected to push for a recall after scoring as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Wilfried Bony has been ruled out for seven to ten days with a hamstring injury, and will miss Swansea City’s home meeting with Crystal Palace. Caretaker manager Leon Britton should hand a recall to Tammy Abraham, but Ki Sung-yeung (calf) and Leroy Fer (back) are both doubtful.

The Eagles will be without the suspended Christian Benteke for the trip to south Wales, so Bakary Sako could start alongside Wilfried Zaha in attack. Luka Milivojevic is available again following his one-match ban and is set to replace James McArthur but Joel Ward and Timothy Fosu-Mensah remain out.

Manuel Lanzini misses West Ham United’s home fixture against Newcastle United – he will serve the second of a two-match ban dished out for successful deception of a match official. Mark Noble is a doubt due to a hamstring injury.

The Magpies will be without the banned Jonjo Shelvey but Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle should push for recalls at the London Stadium.

Burnley will be without the suspended James Tarkowski for their home match against Tottenham Hotspur after the defender was handed a three-match ban by the FA for violent conduct. Kevin Long should deputise in central defence, while Charlie Taylor will continue at left-back with Stephen Ward very unlikely to recover from a knee injury.

As for Spurs, they welcome back Davinson Sanchez for the trip to Turf Moor following the defender’s three-match suspension. His return could allow Mauricio Pochettino to move Eric Dier into central midfield or switch to a three-man central defence.

After being rested for the EFL Cup tie against Man City, Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Simpson, Wes Morgan and Wilfred Ndidi should all return for the home clash against Manchester United.

Antonio Valencia is an injury concern for Jose Mourinho’s side due to a hamstring injury. Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind provide options in the full-back positions, with Ashley Young able to shift across to right-back.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tonight’s 6.45pm deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter account for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Are we expecting liverpool to absolutely thrash arsenal ?

Arsenal has tightened up with 5 cs in last 7 matches. Saying that historically this fixture is high scoring

Expecting goals but wouldn't be surprised if it was 3-1 either way or 2-2. Difficult to call. If Arsenal play like they did against United it could be 5-5.

Pool will score a few I reckon. Arsenal will attack them, which is when Pool play best, on the counter.

      3-1 or something.

Is Lacazette worth keeping? I got him a couple of weeks ago and I seriously regret that decision...

Lacazette + RLC -> Sterling + probably Depoitre but I'll bench the 3rd striker anyway..

I sold him this week, very bad punt he was.

Git Andre Gray and Sterling in for Laca and TCarrol. Should pay off emediatly I guess.

      1. Carcaju
        • 11 Years

I'm also very tempted to sold him. Already have Richarlison, so I'm not so sure about getting Gray, and if I get Sterling I'll play my 5 midfielders, so one of the forwards will have to get benched...

Don't know what the rest of your team looks like, but I would get a cheap forward and strong Mid, or have Firmino as your second striker (as I have currently)

      1. Carcaju
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 8 months ago

I'm thinking exactly that, to have a strong midfield and a cheaper forward... I would like to give Lacazette another shot, but I owned him 3 different times this season and it never paid off...

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 19

It happened. It took awhile...but we're caught up on results people! Although sorry this is opening a bit later than usual...

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Friay 22nd December 6.45pm.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. If you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 10% scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

    ***** THE LEAGUE STANDINGS *****

The top remains stable but there's a raft of people catching up in 3rd place...

    1st - A Manager Has No Name (16pts)
    2nd - Bregg Zit (13pts)
    3rd - Camara (12pts)

Masuaka playing wing back, so more attacking. Ogbonna looks more nailed. Both depend on West Ham playing 3-5-2

Heading into GW 19 (with 1FT and £1.2) looking like:

    Foster (stk)

    Otamendi (BOU)
    Christensen (eve)
    Dann (swa)

    Hazard (eve)
    Salah (ars)
    Richarlison (bha)
    RLC (swa)

    Kane (bur)
    Firmino (ars)
    DCL (CHE)

Bench: Pope (TOT) / Silva (BOU) / Ward (TOT) / Duffy (WAT)

Tempted to keep it safe and do 1FT Silva > Sterling.
But also tempted to add on Ward > Jones for -4pts.

    Hi, guys.
Could I use my wildcard after deadline of gw 21 (30.December)? Or do I have to use it prior to that gw? Gw 22 is on the 01.01, so that would be to late...

    1. MTPockets

      Site says 30 Dec 14:00. That's the gw21 deadline.

Captain Austin or sterling this week? Thinking Austin as not many people will have him Vs Sterling. Not sure who has the easier fixture, thinking City

      Sterling

Austinnis not captain material no matyer the opposition. He is great value for money, but too risky to captain. Southampton are poor, he is not completely nailed.

If you're desperate for a differential then go for it. I don't like Austin at all though.

I really need your opinion guys what to do. I have 2FTs this week (today) then WC next week. that is my team now:

    Pope-Elliot
    Mustafi-Otamendi-Christensen-Gomez-Kenny
    Sterling-Sane-Salah-Richarlison-Gross
    Kane-Morata-DCL

So, essentially two punts. Have you got any money in the bank? I think Austin will score big this weekend, so maybe him for Morata, and Gross to KDB?

yes 2 punts exactly. I have 1.4m itb but i have 3 city players already ca,'t get KDB

Torn apart on whom to start from mee and Gomez

I see both to get 2 points. But Gomez can always get attacking returns.

What are your views about both ?

Any Liverpool fan around to confirm if he starts or not?

Willing to take a hit to improve my bench. Need your help to choose the option below:

    A. Mbemba to Ogbona (-4)
    B. Niasse to DCL (-4)
    C. Save & play Mee

    Speroni
    Otamendi / Christensen / Jones / Mee
    Haz / Salah / Sterling / Richarlison / RLC
    Kane

    (Elliot / Mbemba / Niasse / Morata)

    Fabianski (Elliot)

    Jones, azpil, ogbonna (Simpson, mbemba)

    Coutinho, salah, hazard, richarlison (Carroll)

    Firmino, Kane, DCL

can do richarlison > silva for a hit (if fit) or shall I just ride it out? I have 1.2m itb

    2 ft 0.3 itb

Im getting some nerves for not owning city..

    A: save 1 ft. Kiko -> Ogbonna
    B: Couthino + Kiko -> Sterling + Ogbonna
    C: Morata + RLC -> Sterling + Grey/Austin

    Pope, Elliot
    Otamendi, Mustafi, Jones, Kabasele, Tarkowski
    Hazard, Salah, Sterling, Richarlison, RLC
    Kane, Morata, DCL

    2FT, 0.0 in bank

Very tempted to take a hit to drop Morata and get the power 5 midfield.

But should I just hold Morata, do Tarkowksi --> Ogbonna and keep my other FT?
