Drawing breath before Gameweek 22 rolls in – I wish you Happy New Year from myself and all at Fantasy Football Scout.

As usual, I want to extend a huge thanks to all of you for the support you have given myself, the team and the site over the past year.

I wish I could spend more time being active and be more hands-on with the community, but that is very much one of my resolutions for 2018.

It will be a major focus for myself and Fantasy Football Scout over the next twelve months. We will be focusing development effort and new resource on it to, hopefully, enhance your experience. As a result, I plan to be “in and around” you guys more often.

Next, I thank all those who contribute to helping me produce and run the site.

To Paul and the editorial team for all their tireless effort in writing our words on the site and for our partners. To Jonty and the moderators who volunteer their time to keep the community running – I look forward to helping them more in the year to come.

And to Granville, Andy, Az and Luke who have joined me in growing the popularity of the ScoutCast over the past year. Episode two hundred and forty-five is next, which just seems bizarre.

I would also like to thank Ed and our new recruit Mat – our technical team behind the scenes who have been so vital yet again in taking things forward and keeping us running. We have further development work in test, and it really excites me to be working with them on realising our plans for 2018.

Next, I want to thank my family and what is left of my friends outside of Fantasy Football. Particularly my fiancé, Pip, and my two children who still stick around while I shut myself off each weekend and night after night. I don’t know how much longer they will tolerate me, but I’m so glad that they do.

Thanks again for sharing my passion and for choosing our pages to feed it and voice your opinions.

Many thanks again and Happy New Year to you and your families.

See you in 2018.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I did Arnie, but he worries me with his ability to see red. Lanzini safer, but less chance of explosive weeks like Arnie.

I had two frees and was a Kane-exiter (who actually improved, somehow, while he posted back to back hatties), so I had to get him back. Then the Salah news made a punt on Eriksen sound fun. So I went:

Hazard, Salah, Firmino and Courtois to Son, Eriksen, Kane and Adrian.

I still have Aguero, so I like my side, despite the atypical 8-point hit.

              How are you shaping up?

                Currently on
                Adrian
                Otamendi Alonso Ogbonna
                Son(c) Sterling Salah Lingard
                Joselu Morata Firmino
                S: Ryan Albrighton Dunk Zeegelaar

Thinking Salah , Morata out for Kane + x?
                Any hints?

Yeah, scoring back to back hattricks happens all the time in the PL.

With all the 'most goals in a calendar year' crap, this is clearly a proper and interesting record, he'll obviously know this 100%.

My reticence to use it this week was primarily down to the uncertainty of assured starters. I'd rather play it to ensure I can get 11 good starters on reduced gameweek.

Can't see it paying off, compared to later in the season.

Imagine a week with City and Liverpool blanking and the having a double the GW after while Arsenal and Chelsea have easy games.

Much better usage and likely to occur.

        1. noquarternt
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 4 months ago

Not at all. What are you really expecting from these West Ham players?

You can triple up on City every week if you like.

You're failing to see its potential use later in the season.

Say you've got 2 Liverpool and 3 City players. And there is a gameweek where they both blank. You're down at least 5 starters that cost big money.

The following week, those teams have their extra fixtures. You want them all back.

But what do you do for that blank week? Especially if say Arsenal and Chelsea have easy home games.

The best use of the Free Hit would be the blank week. To remove your Liverpool and City players to bring in Hazard, Sanchez and an attacking defender or two for each game.

Using it now is extremely poor planning.

There is an extremely ballsy (and biased) part of me that wants to cap Kun instead of Kane.

To be honest, the only thing really dissuading me at the moment is a Sterling falafel nine.

    Go for it?

BBC reporting a one match ban for Dunk and Knockheart tomorrow. Nonsense yes?

Yeah, "fifth booking this year". I wouldn't worry about it but I would demand some of your licence fee back.

As for the Richarlison or Arnie -4 thought process. Went for the latter.

Would be more annoyed with myself if Arnie did some damage and I didn't do the transfer, compared to Arnie doing nothing and Richarlison netting at City.

Far better chance Arnie scores in 1 of 2 games than Rich netting versus City.
