Drawing breath before Gameweek 22 rolls in – I wish you Happy New Year from myself and all at Fantasy Football Scout.

As usual, I want to extend a huge thanks to all of you for the support you have given myself, the team and the site over the past year.

I wish I could spend more time being active and be more hands-on with the community, but that is very much one of my resolutions for 2018.

It will be a major focus for myself and Fantasy Football Scout over the next twelve months. We will be focusing development effort and new resource on it to, hopefully, enhance your experience. As a result, I plan to be “in and around” you guys more often.

Next, I thank all those who contribute to helping me produce and run the site.

To Paul and the editorial team for all their tireless effort in writing our words on the site and for our partners. To Jonty and the moderators who volunteer their time to keep the community running – I look forward to helping them more in the year to come.

And to Granville, Andy, Az and Luke who have joined me in growing the popularity of the ScoutCast over the past year. Episode two hundred and forty-five is next, which just seems bizarre.

I would also like to thank Ed and our new recruit Mat – our technical team behind the scenes who have been so vital yet again in taking things forward and keeping us running. We have further development work in test, and it really excites me to be working with them on realising our plans for 2018.

Next, I want to thank my family and what is left of my friends outside of Fantasy Football. Particularly my fiancé, Pip, and my two children who still stick around while I shut myself off each weekend and night after night. I don’t know how much longer they will tolerate me, but I’m so glad that they do.

Thanks again for sharing my passion and for choosing our pages to feed it and voice your opinions.

Many thanks again and Happy New Year to you and your families.

See you in 2018.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Every 0.1 he drops between now and then, sellers can buy him back that little bit cheaper. It's not crazy to want to invest heavy hitter money into your team when you know he's out for 1 or more GW e.g. Salah, Morata > Eriksen/Alli, Aguero ... is that stupid? I'd say that's a very positive, aggressive move and could make a major points difference, which is what the game is all about.

Sellers will simply buy Salah back when he's declared fit, losing a small amount on the trade (which is the whole reason we have built our budgets in the first place, to be able to use it more freely as the season goes on).

Salah will not drop. He has massive ownership and most are keeping.

This makes no sense. High ownership means he is more likely to drop and is already the most transferred out player this gameeek with over 200k managers selling

Wanna make a bet? He's orange flagged, people will sell. News reports suggest '2 weeks minimum'. Kane went up and down like a yoyo because a lot of people (including many casuals) make rapid decisions. They're not thinking about sell value and buy-back value at all, just an injured player.

I can pretty much guarantee I'll be buying Salah back for less than 10.1

In fact I can probably buy him back tomorrow for 10.0 - he's already set to drop! Then people have 2 weeks to consider that orange flag and a game against City. 9.9 is my guess.

Yes I would. It's a game of points, not price. Sitting with an injured Salah in a period of high rotation, when cheaper mids have a DGW and Aguero just became the only available City striker (if you're moving the funds around) is not necessarily wise.

Will non-sellers even field 11 players this GW? Lukaku, Coutinho, KDB, Jesus, RLC, Jones ... there are doubts all over the place with popular players. If you're holding Salah, not buying a Spurs mid, watching his price drop, and not fielding 11 starters, I personally think it's a poor strategy.

Selling is not stupid at all. Sellers could easily make up some ground, especially if Salah misses the City game as well. And he will drop, without a doubt..

Good point. I have already shipped hazard out for Erikson and looking at shipping out Morata for either vardy or Firmino (not sure which one yet) and shipping out either loftus cheek or Doucoure for Son or Alli. Already fielding 2 West ham players and 2 Spurs players for this DGW if I make those last 2 transfers I will be 5 on total and I can still hold onto Salah maybe? Here is my team. What do you think?

                  Adrian
                  Ogbonna, Otamendi, kalabese
                  Sterling, Erikson, RLC, Doucoure Salah
                  DLC Kane(c) morata

I bought Salah at 9.1, got rid for 9.6 to get in Alli and also finance upgrade of Richardson & Lukaku to Arnautovic and Aguero. Think it will pay of huge in points and Salah is likely to drop at least 0.2 before the City game (Which he might not even be ready for, in which case he will drop more), its also possible Alli will rise twice so I might just lose 0.1 or 0.2 at when I get him back and will have gained at lot of points, makes sense to me...

Same here. Also brought in Alli and Aguero. If they haul this GW we'll already have been proved right. And yes, when their prices go up (which they almost certainly will - especially Aguero given Jesus it out for months), we could quite easily be buying Salah back with the money we made selling him in the first place.

I just think people play very hesitantly and worry about 0.1s etc. The reason I built up a solid TV is so I can be aggressive like this. I have the budget for a reason.

If us who are saving their FH chip 'til later in the season don't come across an exceptional week to use it, I am thinking that it could always be used as effectively a GW38 WC to cover for the carnage that always happens when players are tested enmasse. Or is that a waste of the chip?
