Our cup competitions are edging closer to their conclusion with just eight teams now remaining in both contests.

The seventh round of the Fantasy Football Scout cup in the main went by form, with those with a higher rank prevailing.

This included victory for the contest’s highest placed manager, Elvarus, who is 159th in the overall rankings and saw off 1,679 placed Scoutcaster Az. This high flying victor has another tough match in the quarter finals when he takes on the next highest placed remaining manager, David Slade (rank 1,455).

Former FPL winner Tom Fenley’s 13,516 ranked team edged past Double Blue, who is 47,144 places behind him, to set up a last eight battle with Brakeff (rank 25,911), who was one of only two round seven giant killers after comfortably easing past 2,481 placed Roonatic 85-50.

SaxilbyGaribaldi is the other lower ranked manager to beat the odds in round seven, when his 21,579 placed side took out 3,004 ranked Catdeeleyisgorgeous. He will have to rip up the form book once again when he takes on TH14, who is 14,124 places above him.

The last quarter final looks to be a closer affair, with just 5,874 places separating ezdmanx (rank 2,125) and POLSTER (rank 7,999).

The results from the Fantasy Football Scout seventh round can be found here, while the quarter final draw is here.

The Members Cup quarter finals also sees the two highest ranked managers square up to each other, when 770 placed The Albatross faces 1,034 ranked Root.

Two other remaining managers are placed in the top 5,000 with Albertini (ranked 1,485) surely the favourite against 73,50 ranked rrcmc, while 3,651 placed graslauk encounters rama96ab (rank 67,811).

The other tie sees Gloria Kanchelskis (rank 27,122) go head to head with community veteran Fitzy. (32,539).

You can view the full results from the sixth round of Members Cup here, while the quarter final draw is here.

A comment on the Guardian from a poster called Sidfishes, after the signing of Walcott.......

Coincidental or not, I got my season ticket renewal form today, no rise in price for the 4th season running I think.

Then I thought of the disappointment, the broken dreams, the lack of effort, the flattering to deceive, the broken willed and used up sad eyed men standing around lost, without a clue what to do any more and the random nonsensical orders barked harshly at them from the sidelines...

...and after reflecting about my marriage, I immediately signed on the dotted line for another year at Goodison. Seat 156 E - Top Balcony

It seems only Mkhitaryan is delaying the transfer, if he says YES then Alexis will be a United player. And it seems Alexis choose United because he wants to be a crucial option and he knows Guardiola´s rotation filosofy.

This number being reported is pre tax, it'll be around 270k after tax, which is similar to Pogba.. Aguero and Yaya are on 230k a week to compare.. Still a lot of money obviously but not as bad as people are reporting it to be.

Surprised Chelsea aren’t going hard for him. Particularly given they don’t have a reserve striker and also noises about hazard leaving. Perhaps conte just doesn’t care

    REALLY NEED HELP!

ok so someone tried to kindly explain it to me earlier, but i'm still not sure i get it.

    - does anyone have a 4-5-1, if so what do they think?
    - what are the problems with having a 4-5-1 instead of the 3-5-2 or the 3-4-3
    - my current front 6, - sane, sterling, salah, mahrez, kane & son...i'm considering Mane and not Firminho after this GW...as they are a similar price, but why is it an issue to persist with 4-5-1?

    can someone please explain?

One downside is if you have 2 non-starting strikers and the big-hitter usual striker doesn't start, then no-one comes in for him.

True, but if you're getting 4.5 forwards there's a good chance of that being the case. Or alternatively you have to spend more for a bench player you probably won't play.

    4. joeydelucchi

great, thanks for the positive response, i was getting unnecessarily paranoid as a couple of people mentioned it doesnt allow you enough flexibility/its better to keep lower value mids than forwards at the moment...something to that effect.

so would you be happy with this team?
      pickford
      jones alonso danilo vvd
      mane sane sterling mahrez salah
      Kane

      tomkins
      quaner
      mcburnie

i just realised suddenly, the only other striker i think that is worth considering is firminho, and he has now reached Mane's price so why not Mane?!

I watched them against the Bournemouth and they were atrocious. Fine, were missing Giroud and Ozil (not counting Alexis) but they were abysmal and I just can't see them being that top 4 club in the next 3-5 years with the clubs above them.

Not until Wenger goes, prob need to get an experienced manager like Ancelotti to come in for 2 years to stabilise the club and attract big name players before appointing a up and coming young manager who has the drive to get the club back to what it once was
