Fantasy Football managers may well be cursing the impact of the FA Cup on their seasons, but we’re hoping that our 16th Fantasy Football Scout Cup can help add some welcome cheer.

This Fantasy Premier League Cup competition will take place over the over the run-in, a period beset by blanks and chips. To add a further twist and to prevent teams entered specifically for this tournament, we are ruling that all entered teams must have been registered for FPL in Gameweek 1.

Once again there are £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and our new reigning champion, TH14.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup Competition Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 29, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 5, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.
To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The list is here.

Please note that only teams that have been registered with FPL for Gameweek 1 will be eligible for the competition.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after March 5 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

The competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 5.

Prizes

Overall prizes
The prizes for the cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

Looking at this view makes me want to focus on the groups of teams around 52-54 (fighting for UCL), 34-36 (fighting for last Europa spot), and 31-32 (pulling clear of the bottom).

These teams are all fighting for clear goals but none are in full-on panic.

    Said it over and over.

Prem clubs waste so much money on dodgy foreign defenders when all they need to do is cherry pick the best of the Championship and Legue one.

Some real talent to be had...Wigan just showed it...

As good a defensive performance as we've seen anywhere this season including Prem and CL...

    How can you better that?

City don't buy defenders to defend. More concerned with their passing abilities.

Fair play for that but every now and again they'll trip up because of it.

They sure do the vast majority of goals conceded tend to come from defensive lapses

Its just the way they play. They're rarely in the position of HAVING to defend so how clued up they are when it happens is open to question.

        Yep.

And for the others. I'm not knocking any of the City lads...what I'm saying is that there are some fantastic defenders outside the prem that the top clubs would do well to take up....

The same applies to the top clubs in Europe....they would do well to do some shopping in the Championship and one or two League one teams as well...

  13. Jay_

Terrible result for the WC 32/33, BB 34, FH 35, TC 37 plan.

City probably play in 35 and no dgw in 37.

Swansea, were set to be very handy. Would have had 2 x doubles, so could have filled the bench with 3 Swans (e.g Ayew, Fab, Mawson) for a BB in 34 (2 strong homes) then FH'd them out, along with all your expensive big team assets in 35, to get them back and easily have XI doublers in 37.

    All out the window now.

City were a bit of a pain for the WC anyway. Spurs in 34 so just really the Brighton game to benefit from.

Can still FH them in in 35 and forget about them for the rest of the season where they'll be rotated anyway if still in Europe.

Had a good double in 37 but now its a clear TC Kane.

      1. Jay_
        8 years, 5 months ago

Yeah the WC will be easier now but the FH is now worth barely anything

CL Semi 1st leg is the week of GW35.

City first teamers might be absolutely useless that GW.

          How?

    3. Ramboros
      • 14 Years
      8 years, 5 months ago

I don't care about City honestly. It was never in my plan to go heavy on them from GW32. Swansea is a much bigger loss. Fabianski in particular would've been perfect for pairing up with Heaton and play BB in GW34 and use Fabianski in GW37.

We could still see that game postponed, but then at the cost of United or Tottenham.

      1. Jay_
        8 years, 5 months ago

Same tbh. City 37 was a huge banana skin. That Swans double double and in and out 35 was so tasty. Huge loss

    4. TallestJohn
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 5 months ago

Would say it's definitely not as good as if City had gone through but they'll still have one DGW as will Swansea and it also makes it more likely that both of Chelsea vs. Huddersfield and Leicester vs. Southampton could be moved.

      1. Jay_
        8 years, 5 months ago

Makes it so easy to navigate though. I had a plan for 14 doublers in 34 plus Salah and 11 doublers in 37. So disappointing

        1. TallestJohn
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 5 months ago

If they all have 2 DGWs I reckon I'll have more than 4 players between Spurs, Chelsea, United, Leicester and Southampton so FH35 could still be profitable.

Worst thing for me is it probably takes away a City TC option.

          1. Jay_
            8 years, 5 months ago

Might have to look at 3 from each of Spurs, United, Chelsea on a wc now. That's the only way a FH in 35 will be worth a lot. That could mean over doing it on them though, just for the sake of it

    5. the snazzy viking
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 5 months ago

City would probably have already had the league wrapped up by then and City away wasn't going to be a good fixture for Swansea anyway, so in my point of view, there is still an easy way around it

      1. Jay_
        8 years, 5 months ago

Swans dgw in 34 was great though (still is). 3 of those and 2 from each of City, Utd, Chelsea and Spurs was do-able. That's the main loss. It wasn't even spoken about much on here but it was a massive benefit to FH'ing 35.

If Tottenham defeats Rochdale, with all those rubish fixtures @BGW31, isn't it a no brainer to use the FH chip @BGW35 no matter how strong our teams will be?

I think a FHC in GW31 is better than loading up from now to GW31 on mediocre players. That's my take on it.

There will be 4 games in 31 (Unless Spurs do a Spurs). And there will be 6/7 games in 35. What's better?

      1. arndff_

4 poor games! Prefer to load up my team with decent players @BGW35 instead of burning it @BGW31.

@BGW31, I could play with 8 players without taking any hits. Think it's a decent amount of players, isn't it?

31 aint the time to use it imo. Either 35 or 38

38 will be a big gamble. Everything could be decided, so the safest option is @BGW35.

            Good luck to you!

GW31 isn't the time to use it - only if you have a WC to play in GW32 or 33. If you don't, then FHC GW31 is a great time to use it - you can start bringing in doublers now and disregard GW31 completely.

We'll see what happens with the scheduling of the quarter finals. As thing stand we could end up with 2 blanks in GW35. With the right scheduling we'll hopefully know the results of nearly 2 quarter finals before GW31 deadline.

Probably even easier now to get a team out without the need of a FH ? Not sure at all if there is an 'extra over' advantage with Arsenal, Liverpool and one of City/Spurs playing and those players in most teams?

        • 14 Years

100% it's going to be easier to get a team without FH.

But for those who still have all the chips, I think it's the right time to use the FH one.

Whilst City may not have a DGW37, it means Southampton could go through to semis, making their game at Leicester in GW35 a blank.

So DGW 37 for Leicester - SOT and WHU. Mahrez, Maguire and Vardy time!

One of the best goalscorers in the world but he's reverted to being just that. Amazingly It's not enough for Pep in some games which is worrying for owners.

Does Man City losing create any different opportunities to people with all chips left or is it still:

    gw34: BB
    gw35: FH
