Fantasy Football managers may well be cursing the impact of the FA Cup on their seasons, but we’re hoping that our 16th Fantasy Football Scout Cup can help add some welcome cheer.

This Fantasy Premier League Cup competition will take place over the over the run-in, a period beset by blanks and chips. To add a further twist and to prevent teams entered specifically for this tournament, we are ruling that all entered teams must have been registered for FPL in Gameweek 1.

Once again there are £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and our new reigning champion, TH14.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup Competition Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 29, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 5, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.
To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The list is here.

Please note that only teams that have been registered with FPL for Gameweek 1 will be eligible for the competition.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after March 5 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

The competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 5.

Prizes

Overall prizes
The prizes for the cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

Thoughts on these moves to get this team? It is for a -8. I could hold off getting VVD and play Ogbonna or Kenny instead for -4.

Jones, Otamendi, Sanchez and Depoitre ~> VVD, Dawson, Eriksen and Firmino (-8)

    Hennessey
    Alonso / VVD / Dawson
    Salah / Eriksen / Sterling / Walcott
    Kane / Firmino / Wilson

    Speroni / Choupo-Moting / Ogbonna / Kenny.

Holding off on VVD sounds like a good idea until you mention the alternatives. Certainly sets you up well for the coming weeks, but at a cost

Think I'm still using in 35 as I can have a 9 man team for gw31 with minimal hits...

Still think useful to have sandwiched between the 2 dgws.

But it's impact will now be less than if city had won last night.

Why move on Son? Get Bobby F but wait on Walcott. If in doubt, look at GW29 fixtures

Same goes for Otamendi - who are you gonna play in defence in GW30?

VVD by all means, but is there anyone else you can ditch for VVD?

Repost: Can get this team by GW31 with no hits:

    Lossl
    VVD - Dawson - Mariappa
Salah - Walcott- Shaqiri - Sigurdsson
Firmino - Wilson - (one blank player)

So would those 10 be enough to score well in GW31? Any important assets I'm missing?

Ish, he is my currently owned bench fodder. Played last few so might play GW31 but don't expect a CS against Liverpool, perhaps just an extra 2 points at best.

Which one or two transfers out would you prioritise? (Have 2FT)

    a. Lingard
    b. Aguero (to Kane)
    c. Son
    d. Otamendi
    e. Jones

If Jones is injured then Jones, followed by Son (rotation risk) or Lingard (poor recently)

    A) Alonso & Lingard ➡️ Robertson & Mahrez

    B) Jones & Lingard ➡️ Robertson & Walcott

    C) Jones & Lingard ➡️ VVD & Shaqiri

    D) Anything worth -8?

    1. QuintonFortune25
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

Would say C but not sure for a hit. Then again Jose often likes to match Chelsea in a 3-5-2 so could be Matic, Pogba, Herrera midfield and Sanchez and Lukaku up front. So if that's the case and Lingard is dropped then would be worth the hit.

      1. Karan_G14
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

Yup I think Lingard gets dropped this weekend. Even in a 433 he can have mid of Matic, McTominay/Herera & Pogba with Sanchez, Kaku & Mata upfront.

Why Shaq over Wally? Will likely have both in GW31 but Wally has better fixtures before that.

Yup VVD over Robertson long term surely but I think I can get through these 4 matches with Robertson.

Yup Shaqiri is not convincing for the next 3 with Soton & Leicester away and City at home.

Still the same plans. City not having a DGW in 37 will probably be good as they would have won the title by then. Triple up on City till GW35 then sell all for GW37 if they have won the title by then.

      1. Hotdogs for Tea
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

City will have the title won by 32 or 33, plus midweek games in CL probably causing rotation ... so isn’t that the same problem (as in 37) that you face in your tripple-up up to 35 ?

        1. Karan_G14
          • 9 Years
          8 years, 1 month ago

Doubt they would have won it by 32-33 as there is one blank and they face Arsenal, Cheslea & United in that period.

Even if they win it before that maybe just get 1-2 players from City then. Will FH in 35 so if there is City rotation I have the option of net getting their players.

            8 years, 1 month ago

if they just get a draw against their rivals and deny them points, then it brings the chance of an earlier title even closer

I don’t think the the City result last night changes much, just reduces fixture congestion later on for City, meaning they don’t need to rotate players, can crack on getting record points in PL, Aguero golden boot, etc ....

I've been umming and ahhing all monrning, but ..................a FH35 team could look like

      Pickford
Mendy (if fit) / VVD / Monreal
      KDB / Salah / Ozil / Siggy
      Auba / Firmino / Kun

I still find that rather tempting, especially compared to doubling up on Everton in GW31

This is what my non FHC team will look like in 35.

        Heaton (or Pope)
        VVD Monreal Mee Otamendi
        Salah Sterling Ramsey Shaqiri/Doucoure/Niasse
        Firmino Aubameyang

        Looks like marginal difference.

        Watford H to Palace
        Everton H to Newcastle
        Stoke H to Burnley

Pick the best one for the final spot.

Dare I say it but BGW35 will be a non event.

Best pick? 2FTs with 0.2ITB. Alternatively I get do Kun>Firmino and have lots of money to play with.

    A. Ox+Ota/Jones >> Deulofeu+VVD

    B. Son+Ota/Jones >> Eriksen+Daniels

    C. Kiko+Ota/Jones >> Daniels+VVD

    Pick
    Ota / Christen / Jones
    Son / Salah / Sterling / Ox
    Kun / Kane / Wilson
    (Elliot, Choupo, Duffy, Kiko*)

Think Ox is a biggest priority to sell as he is a rotation risk and more importantly frees up a Liverpool slot in your team. So A for me.

I’d make those move for fre specially if we hear that Jesus is back in full training.

Maybe even get VVD for extra 4 points.

I can actually do Kun+Ox+Son+Jones >> Firmino+Wally+Eriksen+VVD for a -8 which I was looking at yesterday but not certain it is worth while. Sets me up with a much better team though

I think those moves can pay off tbh. Pretty low risk as all 4 players you are selling are becoming rotation risks or have tough fixtures or injury.

Maybe just Son is worth keeping to see if he’s a starter for one week as Spurs have good fixtures.

Yeah, I could hangfire on the Son>Eriksen move and do the other 3 for a -4. Then decide what to do with the 1.3m next GW.

I’d do that. Great moves for (-4) with money in the bank bank to decide what do with Son next week.

Can't see the point in saving the FH to gameweek 35 now, 31 looks the most sensible time

If United, Cheslea/Leicester, & Spurs go through to the Semis is still want to save it for GW35. All those teams have good fixtures and a DGW in 34 after GW31 when everyone will wildcard and get their players but if they blank in 35 you want a FH for that week.

Depends on everyone’s teams. I don’t want 7 players from Everton, Stoke, Brom & Huddersfield in my team from GW32 so I’ll be wildcarding then.

My FH31 means I won’t even have them before or after 31 and will be ready for 34 without the need of a WC

All depends on each person’s team 🙂

Yup but will you have the optimum 15 players for GW34 without wildcard?

Also 3 out of the average 7-9 players people with have in GW31 will be from Liverpool which arguably are worth owning from this week itself.

TC in 34, BB in 37.

I don’t want to break up my team and spread money to my bench as early as 32/33, then use transfers to take value out of my bench and put it back in to my tream

I may even be able to BB in 34 if I want, with a bit luck

I may even just write off 31 and FH in 38 🙂
