Earlier in the week, our recent series of Monitor members’ articles on Wildcard ran the rule over both Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Romelu Lukaku, the two most bought forwards ahead of Gameweek 32.

Next up in our assessment is Riyad Mahrez, the second most bought midfielder ahead of Leicester City’s expected pair of Double Gameweeks.

Despite finding himself out of favour in the early months – due to a lofty 8.5 opening price tag and disappointing previous season – the Algerian has turned back the clock to rediscover the heights of his dominant 2015/16 campaign.

Now sitting fourth among midfielders in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) with 161 points, Mahrez has proven himself to once again represent a consistent top-end choice. Meanwhile, double-digit hauls in successive Gameweeks underpin the Algerian’s explosive potential as a differential captaincy option for managers willing to swim against the tide.

With an incredibly obliging run to end the season – including two Double Gameweeks and a slew of favourable matchups (Leicester’s next six fixtures will match them against Brighton, Newcastle, Burnley, Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham) – the winger will be a staple among Wildcard squads.

What do we reckon the prices of Salah, Kane and Aguero will be next season (providing they're all still playing in PL)?

12.0's across the board eats up more than a third of the 100.0 budget.

14.0 for Salah is steep. Kun is an FPL legend and has never reached that starting price.

Yeh could be 13 or 13.5. But he's likely to finish with the highest ever FPL season total. Surely that will be reflected in his price. Never gets injured either.

Great, but I can't fathom the Robertson love. Huge rotation risk and no doubles. I also think Duffy/Dunk beats Stephens, especially if you don't need him for GW37. You could do Tarko -> Lowton, Gross -> Gudmundssen and then Robertson to Vert or Bailly (and swap Stephens for Dunk!) ... I think that would be my ideal, 10/10 WC, tbh.

Has to play both CL games, probably has to play the derby, so if he's not rested for either 32 or 34, that will be 5 games in 15 days. Could easily be rested in 36 too if they qualify. I'm here to tell you that he's a huge rotation rsik. Firmino too for exactly the same reasons.

    Lukaku Barnes Aubameyang

Looks great. Monreal would be my only question mark.

Matic is nailed and has good fixtures. Don't think I'd pick him because it would take up a potentially valuable United slot but he is arguably a better pick than Ibe.

Just did a comparison on Murray and Barnes - very little to split them

    Last 6 game weeks:
    Murray has 1 more goal (4 v 3)
Shots in box - both 10
Murray 1 more Shot on target
    Murray edges big chances 4 v 3
Murray edges shots on target 7 v 6

Seems like Murray edges it but only marginally and is .6 more.

    Tough decision.

Yeah, but you also have to consider Gross vs LEI, HUD compared to Barnes/Gudmundsson vs wba, wat. Gross is much more explosive IMO, and also Son has 3 goals in 14 away games FWIW.

Admittedly I'm very biased when it comes to son as he's one of my favourite players , but don't let his away form put you off. He's been unlucky at times away. He's brimming with confidence and he will always have chances.

Fwiw I prefer Guddy to Groß

I'm going to end up with both Gudmundsson and Gross by DGW34 since I'll downgrade Mkhi so I can do Auba -> Kane, but why do you prefer Gudmundsson to Gross? Surely Gross will score more pts vs LEI, HUD than Gudmundsson vs wba, wat?

Value. Guddy is a bit of a play maker too. .9 cheaper. West Brom are bottom . I think wba Watford is easier

Would take Brighton's home goal record (21 goals in 15 games) over Burnley's away goal record (15 goals in 15 games)

Thoughts on this.... For gw 34

    De gea / McCarthy

    Christensen / mustafi / lowton / morgan / Cedric

    Mkhi / Willian / Mahrez / salah / JWP

    Aubamayang/ Lukaku / Barnes

I'm thinking if playing the arsenal guys in the double rather than dwgers as decent fixtures

    Evening!

    DDG Ryan
    Alonso Vert Stephens Lowton Morgan
    Mahrez Son Salah Willian Gudmundsson
    Auba Firmino Murray

1M in the bank to enable Auba > Lukaku for GW34 (not sure if I will though)

The plan is to BB 34, FT 35 and TC 37.

    Any flaws in my masterplan?

Stephens is a shocking shout and I'm a Saints fan! There's a small possibility of one cleen sheet for us before the end of the season in gw 36 home v Bour

Ouch. That might make me reconsider...

I could stretch to Robertson or Monreal but that’d mean no Lukaku for Auba later on.

After already WC'ing I'm hoping for mega rotation by city in 37 with those fix. Sane,Sterling,Aguero if not rotated could have a cricket score!

Intersting.. I can't see heavy rotation myself - except for maybe Robertson. Maybe Firmino will start only getting 60 minutes and Salah 70 or 80 - assuming they've wrapped up games.

But it's food for thought, thanks Ball Bag.

    Hows this WC looking?

    De Gea Ryan
    Alonso Baily Morgan Lowton Tark

    Salah Mahrez Gudmundson Mikhi Willian
    Auba Murray Vardy

    GW 33 Mikhi to Son
    GW 34 Auba to Kaku

    GW 36 Kaku to Kane

Been tinkering with WC and this is what settled on. Enough in bank to bring in Lukaku for Aubameyang in week 34 on a free transfer. Davies and Monreal a bit of a risk but big upside. Any thoughts welcome on squad? ( no FH and BB week 34)

    De Gea Ryan
    Lowton Morgan Monreal Davies Alonso
    Salah Mahrez Son Willian Gudmundsson
    Aubameyang Firmino Barnes
