With Premier League action finally resuming this weekend we have launched our latest Captain Poll to gauge your views on the best armband options for Gameweek 32.

After a sensational Fantasy Premier League haul of 29 points at home to Watford last time out, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (10.7) looks set to dominate the voting.

Four goals against the Hornets took his league tally to 28 and a commanding position in the Golden Boot race, four ahead of Spurs’ Harry Kane.

Next up in the league for the Egyptian, who scored in his country’s 2-1 loss to Portugal on Friday, is a trip to a Crystal Palace side that has only one clean sheet in their last eight matches. Over that period the Eagles have conceded 15 goals, the third worst record in the league.

Salah, meanwhile, has proved to be as devastating on the road as he has been at Anfield. Away from home, he has had more big chances (16) than any other player and is second only to Kane in terms of goals (11 to 13), shots in the box (37 to 42) and efforts on target (20 to 23).

His team-mates Roberto Firmino (9.7), who scored his 14th goal of the campaign in last weekend’s Watford encounter, and Sadio Mane (9.5), who recorded two assists in that game, could also garner interest.

However, there is a slight caveat to entrusting a Liverpool asset with the armband this weekend, as there is the possibility of rotation ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg tie against Manchester City, which takes place the following Wednesday.

The same fear may curtail interest in Sky Blues players. But with a favourable visit to Everton, they still merit consideration.

The Toffees have just one shut-out in their last four Goodison Park encounters, while on the road Pep Guardiola’s troops are the top side for shots (250), efforts in the box (149) and attempts on target (90).

David Silva (8.1) is their most prolific player away from home of late, with six goals over his last four road trips, the same number his team-mate Sergio Aguero has scored away from the Etihad Stadium all season. However, the Spaniard’s withdrawal from international duty this week for personal reasons may dent confidence in the playmaker.

Another City man to impress over their last four away matches is Leroy Sane (8.6), who scored twice over that timeframe from nine shots.

Arsenal’s Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang (10.6) is likely to put in a strong challenge for the summit against relegation-embattled Stoke at the Emirates Stadium. The former Borussia Dortmund striker is cup-tied for his side’s Europa League campaign, which should ensure he leads the line on Sunday.

A pair of nine-point returns in his last two league outings underlines his captaincy credentials, as does the Potters’ poor form on the road. Over their last six away days Paul Lambert’s men have shipped 12 goals, kept just one clean sheet and conceded 111 shots, with only West Ham (115) allowing more over that period.

Aubameyang is this week’s second bought player among, attracting over 143,000 new owners.

The most popular, with 152,000+ transfers in, is Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku (11.4), who is on a fine run of form with four goals and three assists over the last eight Gameweeks. He collides with a Swansea City defence that have managed just a single clean sheet in their last 12 away matches.

Chelsea’s home clash with Spurs looks tough to call and may see their assets struggle for votes. However, with an average of 3.6 goals a game in their last five meetings, there is merit in entrusting one of their attacking options with the armband.

For the hosts, Willian (7.1) has been making the most of his recent opportunities, with three goals and an assist in his last four starts. Although he has only made the first XI on 16 occasions this season, the Brazilian’s recent form should ensure he is among the first to be selected by Antonio Conte for Sunday’s match.

Three double-digit FPL points hauls, six goals and assist over his last nine matches also makes Eden Hazard (10.6) a key captaincy candidate to consider.

Spurs’ main contender for votes is likely to be Son Heung-min (8.3), who has notched four goals in as many league matches and looks set to lead the line in the absence of the injured Harry Kane. With more than 84,000 new owners since Gameweek 31, the South Korean is the most popular midfield acquisition among FPL managers.

Dele Alli (8.9)’s two goals and an assist in his last four, means that he can never be ruled out of the reckoning.

Christian Eriksen (9.4)’s two goals over his last four in the league, coupled with a brace in the FA Cup sixth round against Swansea this month, makes him another strong alternative option among the Spurs ranks.

Leicester’s trip to Brighton presents voters with a raft of further differential candidates, in particular, the hosts’ number ten Pascal Gross (6.0). Over his last six run outs the German has a goal, three assists and, along with Eriksen, has delivered the joint third highest number of key passes (18).

The main beneficiary of Gross’ creativity is likely to be the Seagulls’ veteran striker Glenn Murray (6.0), who has registered five goals over his last six games, an impressive tally only bettered by Salah and Aguero.

Claude Puel’s men have been in an obliging mood away from the King Power stadium, conceding 12 and keeping just one clean sheet.

But while suspect at the back, the Foxes boast two worthy armband candidates in attack. Over his last eight starts, winger Riyad Mahrez (8.9) has scored five goals and assisted a further three. Striker Jamie Vardy (8.8) has also impressed, scoring seven in his last 11.

Brighton’s failure to keep a clean sheet since Gameweek 21 enhances the case for captaining one of Leicester’s attacking duo.

The poll is now live in the middle column on your homepage on desktop, or via the slide-in menu on mobile and tablet under recent comments.

Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them or not.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later ahead of the Gameweek 32 deadline when we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering an analysis of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Thank you. Slightly cheaper, gives me 0.3 ITB to be more flexible fot any injuries and transfers. Was thinking Murray more nailed than Barnes but ZoumasBloomers below now makes me less certain. I'm not set on this tho, what's your opinion on Gross and Barnes or Gudmundsson and Murray?

I'm leaning towards the former. Gross has far greater output than Gud in every respect and will play both games in the DGW.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Is this the week to finally shun Salah for the armband?

With Liverpool playing Man City just days after they face Palace could Salah's minutes be reduced?

Are there better options this week, with Arsenal's Aubameyang leading the chasing pack?

Or is it a case of Salah or bust for the captaincy in Gameweek 32?

I wont be captaining him again. Im just inside top 100k and I have a choice. Play it safe and probably end up where I am now or 10k to 30k better at the end of the season or gamble. Odds are against me but its a game. Lukaka or Aubameyang for me this week for sure.

If you truly believe that the odds are against you with that particular strategy, then I'm truly bewildered why you consider that to be the best strategy to climb the overall rankings.

I do believe the odds are against me BUT it’s a gamble. This is a game with rich ranking rewards or failure available to you if you bet against the favourite. Like anything in life big rewards sometimes mean taking a big risk. I’m not going to lose sleep if it goes tights up 🙂

If you still have your chips intact its amazing how much ground you can make up in the final few weeks. If I was in your position I would still be targeting the Top 10K - and I don't think you need to go maverick to achieve it.

I think when you have a player in the league who is producing numbers akin to that of Lionel Messi, you captain him.

Palace will be a bit more solid with Sakho back, but there should be space for Salah in behind PvA who likes to get forward a lot.

Didn’t City rock up there playing like Barcelona on New Year’s Eve and end up lucky to come away 0-0?

Yeah thats very true. But City were missing David Silva and Sterling that day, which you have to say would blunt their attack somewhat. Also had Mangala in defence which would have blunted their defence 😉 And that fixture came in the middle of an incredibly congested run of fixtures, whereas this one arrives after an international break of friendlies.

I agree with you that Palace can make it tough for any visiting team though, they beat Chelsea at home and only narrowly lost to Spurs, Utd and Arsenal. But is that worth backing against Salah for? I'm not sure it is.

          1. Athletic Bilbo
            • 9 Years

Good points about the City lineup but Palace were also without Sakho: in fact it was a totally patched up defence.
They’re very tough to beat at home and I don’t think this is a gimme for Liverpool at all.

It’s high risk but with everyone buzzing about Salah’s heroics last week this looks a good week to be bold and go for a differential.

Especially if you like a bit of terror on your Saturday lunchtimes...

After the 29 point haul in GW31 there should be more Salah cappers this week then there are usually. So imo it’s definitely a risk if not going for Salah as Palace have an obliging defence this season.

Im going to risk it probably and go with Auba. There are few weeks where I deviated from Salah and it mostly payed off, think this is one of those again when it could work.

The case for dropping Salah.... hear me out!

Over gw 32-34 he has the following fixtures:
      Sat 31st March - cry
Wed 4th April - MCI (cl fixture)
      Sat 7th April - eve
Tue 10th April - mci (cl fixture)
      Sat 14th April - BOU

Thats 5 games in 14 days. He's 100% nailed for cl games so I can see rotation and / or minutes restricted for pl games, of which he has just 3.

Hazard at 7% ownership has a huge potential for big points gains and at similar price means a straight swap. His games in gwk32-34 period:

      Sun1st April - TOT
      Sun 8th April - WHU
      Sat 14th April - sou
      Thu 19th April - bur

4 pl games across 19 days and with Chelsea looking much less secure of top 4 in pl I don't see haz getting rested.

Hey, it's risky and possibly suicidal but for those needing to make up ground or take a punt then it's worth considering. Most will argue the case for William and that's fair enough but he's in every template I've seen. Hazard? Not one!

Why not both? Great if you can afford it and leave room for Kane... I can't sensibly make that happen however.

I sold him for Auba(C) in GW30 and got him back on FH as (C) in GW31. I'm not getting him back now until GW35 at least.

Bookies give atm exactly same odds for both Salah and Auba to score (3/4) and brace (7/2). Salah is likely getting more casual sportsbettors to back him after last performance, so he might be just slightly better option. He is also after golden boot and wants to score. So it is probably something like 50/50 or 52/48 between them.

If playing safe, Salah. If chasing Auba. If desperate then unrecommandable random pick 😉

Maybe worth considering a Salah brace is worth more FPL points than a Auba brace as well.

Captaining Salah. The DGWs ahead offer a good chance to go with someone different. I don't think it makes sense risking it on someone else just yet. He only needs a quarter of an hour to ruin your rank, remember Stoke away?

Scout Pick Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 32

Once again we are on the look out for a champion to represent the community to take on the Scout Picks and win the chance of a prize.

If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk .

The champion will be selected at random at 8:30am Wednesday and then asked to submit their XI by 10am by Friday by emailing me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of the 84m budget. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team. No captain or chips will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who beats the picks by the highest margin will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

The champion will be revealed in a midweek Scout Squad article, which will outline our initial thinking around the picks. Our and the champions picks will be revealed as usual in the Scout Picks article.

Should the community “Champion” fail to provide an initial or final Scout Pick selection, then an “Assistant Manager” chosen by us, will gain control of the selection to represent the community for the Gameweek in question

Ah, just saw Maguire and Morgan in each team. I understand your dilemma. Robertson could well match Mustafi if he isn't rotated. Smalling will outscore Maguire and Robertson. I think Gross is better option that Gud but that's reflected in the price and his fixtures become dire for the last month of the season.

I'm feeling like I'm almost there with this WC malarkey - what do you think?

    £0.6 itb
    DDG, Ryan
    Alonso, Monreal, Vertonghen, Morgan, Lowton
    Salah, Mahrez, Son, Willian, Gros
    Auba, Firmino, Barnes

    Plan is:
GW33/34: Auba > Lukaku and possibly Monreal > DGW player
    GW34: Play BB
    GW35: Play FH
GW36-38: Hide behind a couch as no TC left!

This will give me 13 DGW + Salah and Monreal
I am still in two minds whether to go with above or bring in Bailly and downgrade either Monreal or Vert

Good to go or make any changes?
    Cheers

Since the infamous 3-3 draw in 2014, Palace and Liverpool have met seven times in the league. Palace have won four, Liverpool three.

    Just saying...

Are there better options with a double?

  16. Tosa86

I played the WC and at the moment my team is below:

    DDG - Fabianski
    Baily - Otamendi - Davies - Robertson - Ward
    Son - Mahrez - Salah - Willian - McArthur
    Lukaku - Barnes - Firmino

    Bank: 0.2

    is it good?
    my doubts are:

    1) how to change the team step by step to arrive at GW35 with 9-10 players?
    2) for DGW34 is ok?
    3) baily or other defender for Man United?
    4) kane and aguero situation?

Reserve gk should have a gw35 fixture that isn’t Man City away.

Davies unlikely to play both games in the double.

Still no idea what to do with the FT

    de Gea
    Alonso, VVD, Schindler, Dunk
    Salah, Mahrez, Walcott, Shaqiri
    Firmino, Mounie

    J. AYEW, Martina, Milli

Ayew has to go, but for who? Lukaku? Auba?

it's very soft forward and midfield
i don't like walcott and shaqiri for the next GW.
i like kaku, and i think that arsenal play all-in in EL and not in championship.

Yeah Wally and Shaq were for the blanks only really

By Championship I guess you mean the league?
Arsenal have really easy fixtures tbh. But they're prone to bottling easy games

          yes the league.
i know that the fixtures are easy..but play with head on EL or into league?
          i'm not sure.

In the midst of my WC:

    Tarkowski Lowton Dunk Robertson Morgan
    Lukaku Vardy Abameyang

    or

    Tarkowski Lowton Alonso Valencia Morgan
    Lukaku Vardy Barnes

By swapping out Abameyang now rather than GW34 - I will save myself 2 FTs + hit.
is it worth it? I'm thinking 2 premium defenders have the potential of outscoring 2 cheap defenders and premium forward????
    What do you think please.

For this gw Robertson has more cs potential than Alonso. Since I can afford Valencia, Kaku, Auba and Vardy, that is not my route. Looks okay or good though.

A for sure then. Maybe even Lloris over De Gea. Covers all 4 top defenses. And gets you Gud over Kenedy. Or Morgan over Chilwell.

Just go ddg I think, problem solved!
Keeping Firmino now, especially with the Kane news that he was pictured at the training ground in kit. Think another week would be invaluable

Have DDG in but thinking of doubling up. Mou will keep the shop tidy. Not sure on Kane before 35/36.

On a WC but no FH. Can someone suggest a defender 4.7 or less that plays in GW35?

Having to balance between DGW & BGW players, currently have Aubameyang, Salah, Barnes, Tarkowski that play in 35 only.

Erm if you're starting one, probably best double up with Burnley maybe and get Lowton too? Otherwise owning Robertson or TAA might be worth doing

I think I prefer Mikhi Burnley def vs Son Mustafi for next 2... Arsenal have a leaky defence and Son vs Chelsea doesnt make it promising for me. Thoughts?

Yep Mkhi for next 2 over Son on paper fine - think AW rotates for the UEL tho. Chelsea spurs also typically a decent scoring fixture

Yeah but Mikhi vs Stoke with Auba pair seem juicy and Burnley have nice fixture defensive wise 🙂

On a WC, have Ben Mee since GW 1 (PP 4.5 SP 4.7 CP 4.9) but wondering if it's worth replacing with Lowton to get the valuable 0.3m ITB

Do you need the 0.3? If yes, do it, if not, I'd be tempted to keep. Mee's by far the most offensive defender at Burnley: rest much of a muchness. Really depends if you need the cash

      1. The Left Duke #3

Unfortunately it looks like i'll need the cash with the WC team I have planned. Things might change of the course of the next few days but would hate to see Mee finally get his overdue goal if I sold. Have had him since GW 1 and he's the only player I can say that about 🙂
