As one of just six sides expected to be granted a pair of fixtures in both Gameweek 34 and 37, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) interest in Leicester City has reached a new high.

Understandably, Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy are the main targets among Claude Puel’s regulars as managers wield their Wildcards, with faith in their defence dented by a run of six Gameweeks without a clean sheet.

One look at the remaining schedule (bha NEW bur & SOT blank cry WHU tot), though, looks promising for points at both ends of the pitch.

Indeed, the Foxes’ next six opponents all sit outside the top six, with a home encounter against Arsenal expected to drop into the penultimate round of fixtures.

With two goals and four assists to his name, Harry Maguire appears to be the standout contender among the Leicester backline. Yet at a lofty 5.6 in FPL, does he justify the extra outlay over his budget-friendly, defensive team-mates?

In our next Monitor members’ article on Wildcard targets ahead of Saturday’s Gameweek 32 deadline, we look to the Opta data for answers.

    Consensus on Gross vs. Stanislas?

Gross is popular pick here. There's not much init especially if you are planning to downgrade that player to Ki/King to get Kane in. I am going Stanislas. He is on good form and he has better fixtures after the blank so I might even end up keeping him.

Easily Gross for me. Brighton have 2 great home games then a double. Stanislas injury prone. Bournemouth as good as safe so could have a few dodgy matches.

Im just getting Vardy. Lose a whopping 0.6m on Firm but Vardy’s double double, my lack of FH and Firminos potential rotation make it a no brainer for me

      Vardy. 2 x DGW.

Fitting both in is an option I am considering.

Hmm. How high is your TV? Who are you taking out of the template here. Willian? Son? Alonso 😮

Son would me my sacrifice. I think. Also it would be tricky to get Kaku for 34 and might even need to take a hit for that. So not really sure if I should risk it. ML leader has him and I would bet Son to do better than him.

Managers who WC GW33. What is your favourite thing to happened in GW32?

    - Jones and Smalling start
    - Son benched
    - Kane back (lets say benched)
    - Murray/Gross/Barnes benched or blanked
    - Firmino brace
    - Stanislas haul
    - VVD goal
    - Willian blank and sub 70min + Hazard brace
    - Vardy haul

Trying to negotiate the final weeks without FH. WC active, BB and TC left to play. Thoughts chaps?

    DDG, POPE
    ALONSO, Mustafi, Robertson, MAGUIRE, TARKOWSKI
    Salah, MAHREZ, SON, WILLIAN, GROSS
    Auba, VARDY, BARNES

    GW33 - Save. 1.5m ITB
    GW34 - Auba > Lukaku. BB, 12 DGW players
    GW35 - x3 transfers (-4). 9 players.

By DGW37 I can have 11 DGW players and TC Kane.

Who else you going for at the back? I can afford...

Alonso Mustafi (Vert in 34) Maguire Dunk Lowton currently.

The 0.9m doesn't make a big enough upgrade in my team to justify the move.

If it's the difference between getting Kane back easier then I'd reconsider.

I don't have him - but I would want to feel comfortable that Leicester are capable of a clean sheet before I did.

Until then, I might stretch to Morgan who has some ariel threat and identical clean sheet chances.

If you had a straight choice between Lukaku and Auba, what would you do?

Auba to Kane in GW 34 seems too easy. Where as Lukaku seems the safe choice in case you need to use your transfers for other players.

If one has no MUN or TOT defensive cover is DDG really that far ahead of Lloris?
Spurs could easily get more CS than MUN over the run in, but it seems 99% of wc teams on here have Dave.

Yep rarely use the word, but fits in this case. I'm in the market for a GK for 34 and if I go Lloris over DDG I can bank some cash.

    2. Pierce34
      • 10 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

I'm in two minds about this - the problem is that DDG is the best United defensive asset, but at the same time Lloris is the best Spurs one. Not outright - Davies is - but the full-backs' rotation and the fact that the centre backs are too expensive for no attacking returns means that Lloris is the best option by default.

At the same time though, De Gea is clearly a better option because Tottenham never concede enough shots for Lloris to get save points.

True, but MUN look a looser team than Spurs atm (eye test) and perhaps Spurs can keep one or two more cleanies. Plus can save some $$$ 🙂

Indeed, the problem is I don't trust any of the United defenders other than Valencia who's too expensive - so that just leaves DDG. My hope is Alderweireld proves his fitness so I can go DDG & Toby for the run-in, but that's wishful thinking, it'll probably be Vertonghen.

I think if Bailly stays fit he is first choice if you can stretch that far? But perhaps you are right as Smalling has been solid and Jones getting back to fitness, so there is risk!
Nothing to lose here so I might gamble and go Lloris and no MUN defensive cover for 34.

I'm backing both Spurs and United to get clean sheets in GW34, so I'm looking for cover from both. I was surprised that Bailly is more expensive than DDG actually, so I have to go DDG by default.

Is vert really that good a choice now is the question. U would want spurs defensive coverage from gw36 I think and at that time there will be only one match per week so their fullbacks or alder if fit could be better than him. Y jump on vert so early??

Saves a transfer later on. Top teams keep more cleanies.
Spurs vs Chelsea could just as easily be 0-0. Neither will want to lose.

How will there motivation be effected if they lose?
Could be game over for Chelsea assets.

Spurs have never won at the bridge for last 25 years and no Kane. So its a scored draw or Chelsea win for me

Ditch the risky Smalling/Christen plan and just get a nailed Cedric for the two doubles?
