Many Fantasy Eliteserien managers will be eager to move on to the next set of fixtures and forget a disastrous Gameweek 2, which was dogged by surprise benching, underperforming stars and the weather getting the better of  Tromsø’s clash with Stromsgodset.

But before we look ahead to Gameweek 3 let’s catch up on the latest developments regarding double Gameweeks.

Double Gameweek Updates

A number of postponed games have now been rescheduled and we can get to planning our double gameweeks properly.

Gameweek 4 Doubles:
Vålerenga – Strømsgodset
Tromsø – Ranheim
Sandefjord – Stabæk
Sandefjord – Ranheim
Tromsø – Strømsgodset

Gameweek 6 Doubles:
Brann – Stabæk
Lillestrøm – Ranheim
Rosenborg – Start
Stabæk – Start
Ranheim – Brann

Gameweek 3 Preview

All but one game starts on Monday at 5:00 P.M and as  usual the team sheets will be out before deadline, so there is lots of room to make inspired 11th hour moves.

Bodø/Glimt – FK Haugesund
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
Bodø have spent their easter sharpening their goal-threat, while Haugesund have made a major defensive signing. With the extra signing we are once again looking at a possibility of Stølås at Haugesund playing out of position, while Gytkjær picked up another two goals in a mid-easter friendly. New signing Benjamin Karamoko from St.Etienne comes in at 5.0 but it may pay to wait to see if he will be a regular starter. We are backing Bodø as a slight favorite here, with loads of goal-threat in Opseth, Saltnes and a likely return of Trond Olsen on the wing. Jens Petter Hauge has looked sharped so far, although he started on the bench against Brann.

IK Start – Sandefjord
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
Sandefjord have had a terrible winter, and that continued as they lost to a tier two team in a friendly this easter. They have made a potentially strong move signing Watford defender Andrew Eleftheriou on loan, but this game should come too soon to punt on him. This leaves IK Start massive favorites, and we are  looking to Floki, Kabran and penalty taker Larsen as the best picks in this encounter.

Kristiansund BK – Lillestrøm
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
This game is very hard to call. Kristiansund came close to getting all three points against Rosenborg last time out, despite being dominated for most of the game. Gjertsen and Bamba should be the major threat from Kristiansund, with Stoke is sidelined a few more weeks. Lehne Olsen is facing a race to be fit for this one, but he’s not far off. Melgalvis was surprisingly benched, but came on to score a goal. Maric had a nightmare of a game, and has been a big disappointment. We wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the bench soon.

Molde – Tromsø
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
Molde assets could be this week’s highest scorers with the team  overflowing with possible picks. There are worries Sarr will be suspended by the club (or benched) due to other circumstances, so we advise you steer clear despite the increased ownership so far. Linde is the prime option in goal, while we look at several names moving forward, in Hestad, Brustad, Aursnes and Amang. Be wary of rotation, Chima scored his first goal in a friendly, Wadji scored in both friendlies during the break and Haaland scored a hat-trick for Norway U19.

Tromsø options are dodgy for this game, but some picks might be worth while preparing for DGW, in Morten Gamst-Pedersen, Gjermund Åsen or Lasse Nilsen.

Ranheim – Stabæk
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
Ranheim line up for their Eliteserien debut almost a month after everyone else as they host Stabæk. All eyes are on this game to weigh up the potential double Gameweek picks from both teams, with Barli, Tønne and Karlsen at Ranheim playing theirs next Gameweek, and Stabæk completing a great run of promising fixtures from this round up until their double Gameweek 6, as Ohi, Boli, Hou Sæter and Brochmann look to score big. Ranheim will be without key man Mads Reginiussen, who picked up an injury in training that will keep him out for around three to six weeks.

Sarpsborg 08 – Vålerenga
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
These are two teams decidedly on track so far this season. We look to home advantage to separate them, in what should be a close match. A slight injury worry for Amin Askar cools prospects there, but Zachariassen remains a top choice. Mortensen is the safe striker choice.

Vålerenga also offer up some enticing options, with Ejuke, Johnson, Tollås Nation and Juklerød all having delivered so far. Johnson in particular looks a  good Fantasy option.

Strømsgodset – Brann
(Monday, 5:00 P.M.)
Strømsgodset disappointed in the first Gameweek, before having their second game called off. Brann on the other hand looked solid (but nothing more) against Bodø/Glimt. Jradi and Pedersen are the standout picks for Strømsgodset, as well as Ulland Andersen when he’s back. There have been some suggestions that he won’t be out for long. Wormgoor showed his value scoring a penalty and receiving maximum bonus points, while Skålevik returned a goal. Haugen looked central to Brann’s attack, while Koomson had an okay debut. We’ll back Strømsgodset to win here on home turf.

Odd – Rosenborg
(Monday, 7:00 P.M.)
This is the main match of the day in our opinion. Rosenborg have failed to live up to their hype and reputation, leaving many lamenting a quarter of their budget tied up in blanking players. Things do not look easier as they go away to Odd, a team that traditionally has a good grip on Rosenborg, and who, despite a poor start, have proved likely to score in every game.

All eyes are on the Helland vs. Kitolano duel down the right flank, with the usual suspects, such as Bendtner on people’s mind from Rosenborg. Adegbenro limped off in a friendly vs. Ranheim this week, and is expected to be out for about six weeks. De Lanlay might be a differential pick if it becomes clear he is out.

Close looks at Børven and Rashani at Odd is tickling some people’s imagination, with Kitolano still a cheep option despite some indications he might be rotation-prone soon. Despite everything, Rosenborg are still favorites here.

Scout Picks

We finally have a full league to pick from, and think these line-ups could provide some sorely needed points to a few managers out there.

Niemi’s picks for Gameweek 3

Linde
Hedenstad – Haugen – Larsen
Helland – Kabran (K) – Saltnes – Hestad

Yep, lots of competition. 🙁 Storbaek moved up from midfield to play off the striker. Dunno whether to even play him in the DGW now.

        Amang played second half.

Current team - thinking about options:
          Hansen - Barli
          Tønne - Kitolano - Haakenstad - Glesnes - Hanche-Olsen
          Kabran - Komsoon - Vetlesen - Hestad - Saltnes
          Bendtner - Pedersen - Opseth

a.) Wildcard, focusing in both DGWs
b.) Hestad > Løkberg (for more DGW cover)

Put it simple; I really don't know what to do with this team.

You're looking alright with 8 players with at least one DGW. I'd try to be patient although if you've had enough of Bendtner at least it's an easy switch to Ohi

Pedersen seems the best bet for Godset. Jradi or Andersen if it looks like either will play in both games.

If Sandefjord have turned a corner then Storbaek looks the most secure midfield pick. Olsen Solberg good too.

Karlsen could be a decent punt although if he has a bad game I could see Helmersen getting a chance with so many games in succession.

Too difficult to tell who's gonna haul for Tromsø. Åsen, Gamst, Nilsen are the known quantities. Would be a big punt on the strikers or new mids.

                    Thanks for a great answer!

Bendtner and Amang -> Pedersen and Karlsen (-4) will probably be my moves. If Ulland Andersen/Jradi is fit I would be tempted for another hit

                Afternoon all

What are your transfer plans for the upcoming dgw? I’m thinking of taking a -8 and using it as a chance to clear out some deadwood:

                OUT: Haakenstad, Pau Morer, Amang
                IN: Wangberg, Storbæk, Karlsen

Should return the -8 within the week, but even if not, i’ll be better set going forwards.

                Thoughts?

Your moves look good, I got rid of Haakenstad and Amang before the deadline. Would prefer Nilsen or Olsen Solberg if you don't have them.

I'll do Rashani (or Jradi if he's not in the squad for the first game) to a midfielder under 6.7m. Probably Gamst, Storbaek or Løkberg. Maybe one of the new Tromsø guys if I'm feeling very punty.

Currently only got Tønne, Barli and Morer. Don't know whether to even start the latter.

I'm planning for GW6 already. Want to have triple Brann and Ohi but that'll have to involve a -8 at some point. Not playing any chips in GW4, favouring Park the Bus in GW6.

                    Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking of Parking the Bus this week (back five of Glenes, Tønne, Wangberg/Nilsen, Hedenstad, Kitolano) and then Attack, Attack in gw6 with a frontline by then of Karlsen, Ohi and Skålevik.

Hopefully only need to do -4 in gw6 as long as I save my ft in gw5!

What would your triple Brann be John?

I’m planning same, can’t decide between double defence and Koomson, or just Wormgoor, Koomson and Skålevik

If I Park the Bus it'll be Teniste, Wormgoor and Koomson.

With so many good strikers I'm still slightly wary of Johansen sharing minutes with Skålevik.

So, goalkeepers don’t get double points while on a parked bus... Have Kongshavn.

Nielsen x2, Tønne x2, Glesnes x2, Wormgoor & Kack good enough to play the chip?

Nielsen & Kongshavn (gk) plays for Kongshavn against Ranheim & Godset. Before Ranheim’s performance vs Stabæk I fancied a CS in that game. And Godset have some important attacking players injured and possibly ill, so I’d be happy with 1 CS from those two games. Tromsø doesn’t seem to do clean sheets however...

Tønne plays for new boys Ranheim, he’s OOP and got an assist last game, so even if he doesn’t get a CS he might get attacking returns. Two away games this dgw.

Glesnes from Godset with two away games (Vålerenga & Tromsø), not overly confident about points from him tbh.

Also Wormgoor (on pens) at home to Kristiansund & Kack away to Lillestrøm. I expect something from Wormgoor at least.

The first 4 are about as good as it gets this GW. Kack isn't ideal, but selling him when he has a DGW coming up isn't optimal either.

Looks good enough to me for sure. There is always a possibility that a better opportunity will emerge, say Rosenborg get a DGW against 2 weaker teams, but that's a gamble which you can't count on.

Should/could have gone for Ran/San options on WC over Kack (who I thought would score well in gw3) but I didn’t think they’d get the results they did so I’m stuck with him up until gw6. Not worth a hit imo.

You have to take into account that you get 2x points for your defenders. If the guy you bring in outscore Käck by two points that's enough to justify the hit.

True enough. Will take a look at the options from Sandefjord. Who’s at risk of losing his place to Eleftheriou?

Demba Bindia I assume. Seck also benched last GW, I think he could come back into the lineup soon.

You should also consider the transfer needed to bring back Käck for the second DGW. However, maybe he's not that good of a pick that week as he plays both Rosenborg and Stabæk away from home.

I'm not backing him to keep a CS in any of those, but yeah.. If you want Käck back in for GW6, maybe not a good move.

There's always the option of doubling on Ranheim as they have two DGWs. Rismark should be the option in addition to Tønne.

Karlsen - agree although Ranheim have played one game so could yet flop or rotate with Helmersen.
Pedersen - have him but both games away. SIF had much worse record away last season. If EUA/Jradi still out are they as good.
                            Tromso - pass.
San - have Kastrati but could be injured now and if not could still rotate with Engblom.

Feels like as good an opportunity as any for park the bus.

Average was 4cs per gw last season. That's also relatively lower than 6cs per gw this season in more teams in PL.

Less than normal, but CS are normally more random than in PL. I would expect Molde, Sarpsborg, Rosenborg and Brann are the most reliable teams for CS. Maybe Haugesund.

Ah, that's changes everything.. McDermott probably the only other 4.5 GK I would look at currently, the other options doesn't look too tempting. Falch would be great, but I don't expect him to keep the place as Kristiansen's back (on the bench this GW).

                                      Ok perfect, thanks.

I had McDermott all last season, I remember him going on some monster double digit haul run for week after week towards the end of the season 😎

Just noticed Popovic rotates fairly well with Barli.

No standout picks for me at 4.5 really. Was expecting better from Maric and Lillestrøm. I've gone for Linde myself as a "set-and-forget" GK, with Barli coming in for the DGWs.

Sorry I know I’m full of questions, but I am clueless 😆 . Is Rolantsson nailed again?

Hard to say. He's done well and he'll start next GW. Brann got three other pretty good wingers ready to step in if needed, so I don't think he'll start every game this season. Performance based IMO. Right now he's first choice, but might not be the case in a few weeks.

Definitely risky, but two home games..

Haven’t paid an awful lot of attention to the fixtures since the start, but wasn’t Start supposed to have a double in gw4?

                          Best move here?

                          Hedenstad Remmer Tønne
                          Zachariassen Koomson Gamst Saltnes
                          Amang Opseth Floki

(Opdal - Kabran Kitolano Bjørnbak) 8.7itb

                          A) Amang -> Karlsen
                          B) Hedenstad -> ?
                          C) something else

                          Think I’ll wc in gw5.

Amang to Pedersen maybe if you have 8.7ITB?

Yeah, but want to punt on a DGWer. Seems capable of doing the business as well! Only needs one goal to be value, but capable of a haul

worth hitting him in for Opseth? since a hit is only 2 points in a dgw etc

Might be.. I don't agree with the only two points though, as it's not a blank GW. Opseth could still get a haul, but yeah Pedersen definitely has the better chance of hauling with two games. Monitor if Jradi and/or Ulland Andersen are back for Strømsgodset, they have a massive influence on their attack.

There I'd say Amang-Karlsen .... get in a 2xDGW striker, drop out a rotation-prone striker who served you well.
