Our attention now turns to the Sky Sports game, as we check in with last weekend’s action before preparing you for a bumper upcoming round of matches that could play a significant part in the overall standings.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before detailing the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 35 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

Fixture MoTM
Everton vs Liverpool Georginio Wijnaldum
Watford vs Burnley Will Hughes
Brighton vs Huddersfield Alex Pritchard
Chelsea vs West Ham Joe Hart
Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Luka Milivojevic
West Brom vs Swansea Chris Brunt
Leicester vs Newcastle Jamaal Lascelles
Man City vs Man United Paul Pogba
Arsenal vs Southampton Danny Welbeck
Stoke vs Spurs Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen was at it again, earning his second MoTM award in as many weeks. The Dane has amassed 34 points over that period and is now the fourth highest-scoring midfielder overall.

Paul Pogba’s brace also caught our eye ahead of the Double Gameweek. The Frenchman has shown us glimpses of his Fantasy potential with several double-figure hauls this season and now looks a valid and cheaper alternative to team-mates Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Gameweek 35 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 50 points or more in bonus for the season.

Notes

I moved up one whole place, so I guess I have to count that as a victory. Overall, It was a low-scoring week across the board, but I had hoped for more given my use of three transfers.

Speaking of which, I’m pretty happy with them, as of the trio I sold, Ben Davies and Roberto Firmino didn’t start, while Theo Walcott blanked.

The incoming Pascal Gross got me two points and was only denied an assist when Jonas Lossl was deemed to have scored an own goal, while Harry Kane’s ghost goal meant he also went close to a decent return. Thankfully, Wilfried Zaha carried the rest with a ten-point return.

My big decision this week is who to bring in at the expense of Gabriel Jesus.

I need a player from the red side of Manchester for captaincy reasons moving forward, and there is a case to be made for all three of my potential suitors: Lukaku, Sanchez and Pogba.

I currently see the Belgian striker as the safest pick, but given my desire to break into the top 100, I’m strongly considering the other two as altenatives.

Sanchez has been very good in his last two matches and is owned by the fewest people. He’s also the most expensive and therefore unobtainable for most in one transfer. All of these reasons are currently pushing me in his direction.

Captain Plan

Sat 14th April – Mohamed Salah
Sun 15th April – Romelu Lukaku/Alexis Sanchez/Paul Pogba
Mon 16th April – None
Tues 17th April – Harry Kane
Weds 18th April – Romelu Lukaku/Alexis Sanchez/Paul Pogba
Thurs 19th April – Andreas Christensen

I think there's goal in them both this DGW, Lukaku has the fixtures and Kane is going hell for leather for the golden boot (against a nervy City defence).

Kane has 10 more goals, 8 games with more than 1 goal while Lukaku only has 1 and it was in GW1, Kane's also had 2 hat tricks to Lukaku's 0. Kane's had a lot more shots and shots inside the box than Lukaku, Spurs create more chances than United do on average, City have lost 3 games in a row conceding 8 goals along the way and Brighton haven't kept a clean sheet since December.

I honestly don't see the appeal for Lukaku over Kane and I own both.

And Kane's done all that in less games/minutes than Lukaku too.

The argument is not about form it's about fixtures.

Kane faces a highly motivated city side and a Brighton side fighting religation. Neither fixture is great.

Lukaku on the other hand faces a relegated and un interested west brom followed by a safe a weak defence Bournemouth.

If the fixtures were equally strong you would have a point but as they are not the choice is a no brainer.

Although what you said is true, it's worth considering Lukaku has been more consistent than Kane. Although Kane has a higher ceiling he also has a lower floor, making Lukaku a safer option.

They have the same floor level. Just Lukaku hits it marginally less often.

          1. stat

Yeah that's what I mean - while Lukaku has blanked (3 pts or less) in 12 out of 30 apps (40%), Kane has blanked in 16 out of 30 apps (53%).

I'd also argue that it's harder to predict Kane's blanks than Lukaku's.

Kane's blanks came against: new, CHE, BUR, SWA, BOU, CPA, ars, wat, BHA, mci, swa, WHU, MUN, bou, che, stk
(Although he only played 33 mins vs bou, and 16 mins vs che)

Lukaku's blanks came against: LEI, liv, che, BHA, ars, MCI, lei, BUR, SOU (got injured at the 13th min), tot, new, mci

While Lukaku's blanks came more or less against bigger sides, Kane's didn't

Probably best dilemma for most people but :

2FTs and one of them would be : Auba -> Kane

    A. Alonso to Cedric or max 5.0 def
    B. Son to Lingard
    C. Alonso to Davies, Willian to Lingard [ -4 ]

    Thanks.

Disagree. Strongly. Change is inevitable and in this case welcome. Embrace it. OK the process needs refinement, but you'll soon be wondering how we we did without it. What can be better than the truth?

The current game how it is, is loved by billions around the world. The reason why people love it, is because it's one of the most free-flowing fast paced sports that exists. Just ask Americans who have turned away from the stop-start nature of American Football to embrace Soccer as their favourite sport.

It is a game of opinions and subjective decisions. To get VAR involved in these decisions will be pointless and only serve to cause more controversy, slow down the game and sap emotion from the drama.

Just imagine that 97th min City goal to win the title being reviewed and the whole crowd having to reserve their emotional jubilation while a bloke in a truck determines whether Kane did indeed get a touch or not.

Probably the right decision - too much sensationalist media here that will latch on to every error made so probably makes sense to make sure it is as close as nailed to working correctly as possible before introducing it fully. Will expect to see it trialled a bit more widely though.

    c) Aubu & Wood > Lukaku & Barnes

Who would you play out of

    1. Dunk
    2. Christensen
    3. Lowton

    &

If you were chasing your in ML by 45pts and you think that opponent will only captain Lukaku and not TC him, should you TC him yourself or TC
Kane, Sanchez or Mahrez instead. The reason why I don't that ML leader will TC is because he only has 4 DGWers in his team at the mo and I have a full XI

Im 45pts ahead. I will block my rival in any way i can.

Bringing in Lukaku instead of Kane and Smailing instead of Vertongen only to block 🙂

    Torn between three options:

    1) Aubu / Salah to Kane / Pogba (-4)
    2) Auba / Salah to Lukaku / Eriksen (-4)
    3) Auba / Salah / Mahrez to Kane / Sanchez / Albrighton (-8)

What do people think? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

      def not 3.
I have similar issue, but decided it is madness to lose Salah

Cheers for the feedback. Might have to look at another option to fund Kane/Kaku!

Coin toss that, marginally A as Leicester aren't great defensively.

Still torn between Chilwell and Long

No Mee might make that Burnley backline more shaky

    FREE HIT CHIP RULES

Just doing some planning ahead for the following two gameweeks and I've been looking into the rules regarding the Free Hit chip.

I'm sure that this has been discussed in depth before, but I have only just looked into the rules/quirks properly. It seems that if you take, for example, a -4pt hit to swap out two players and later on decide to play the Free Hit during the same gameweek, you still end up with the -4 but also lose the two players that you brought in (your team will revert to how it was the previous gameweek).

I was looking into it because I wondered if I could beat future price rises at the beginning of a gameweek by bringing in new players prior to playing the Free Hit, hoping that those transfers would be sitting there waiting for me the following gameweek. This doesn't seem to be the case, though...

    Do I have this right?

    Aguero out:

Ashley Young's challenge in the derby aggravated Sergio Aguero's knee injury and the Argentine will not feature this weekend. "Made huge effort on Tuesday but couldn't play from the beginning." John Stones [adductor] and Fernandinho are also out. #MCFC

Darn - potential gw35 captain can't see him getting 90 in that game. But Jesus comes into thinking.

If Aguero is out then I'm thinking of something like this in GW 35:

        Pickford
        Baines Bauer/VVD Kiko
        Salah Sterling KdB Arnie Shaqiri
        Auba Jesus

        Bench: Maenpaa, Tosun, Bauer/VVD, Long

Been toying with bringing Aguero in for GW37, news like this just complicates things! Surely he'll be back by then!?

Hi guys, do we think Christensen will play at all over the DGW?

    Should I;

    A) Use my FT to ditch Christensen (14DGW Players)

    B) Use my FT to do Auba -> Lukaku (Keep Christensen, but 15 DGW players)

    C) Ditch Christensen and Auba for a hit

    Thanks!

    2) kane, Lukaku, king, smalling, Mustafi for -12
    3) Kane, murray, Christensen, tomkins for -12
