The first of four remaining Double Gameweek 34 fixtures gets underway at 7.45pm as Brighton welcome Spurs to the Amex Stadium.

After a hugely underwhelming start to his pair of fixtures in Saturday’s home loss to Man City, Harry Kane has the chance to atone against a Seagulls’ defence without a clean sheet in their last 12 attempts.

The Spurs striker was second only to Mohamed Salah by the narrowest of margins (18.28% vs 18.32%) for the armband, while over 71,000+ have played their Triple Captain chip as he looks to chase down the Liverpool winger in the race for the Golden Boot.

Kane starts this evening along with Christian Eriksen, while Son Heung-min returns to the teamsheet after featuring off the bench at the weekend.

Boasting a 17% ownership, the South Korean has four goals and an assist in his last four league starts. Along with another of tonight’s starters, Serge Aurier, he was on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win at Wembley when the two sides last met in Gameweek 17.

But Dele Alli owners are left with just a two-point haul from Double Gameweek 34, as the midfielder is left out altogether ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Man United.

Lucas Moura earns a rare start for the visitors out wide, as does Toby Alderweireld in defence, with Davinson Sanchez the man to make way.

They’ll look to rein in the Seagulls’ Glenn Murray, who was on the scoresheet in Saturday’s loss at Crystal Palace.

The veteran is in fine form in front of his own fans, firing five goals in his last six starts at the Amex Stadium.

As long as those clowns known as refs are in charge, no amount of VAR will stop joke decisions from being given.

    75 points - 10 to play! I BROKE INTO THE TOP 30K AFTER 12 WEEKS IN THE 30K's.... It's been a grind

The reason for capitals is that I've explicitly said how hard and how close I've come to break the top 30k and had no luck shifting up and down since GW22 with no fortune, but its persistence and these handy little chips that get you there.

Nice. I'm similar: 68(-4) with 8 to play.

Not overly confident of scoring much more though seeing as I have Pogba, two Burnley defenders and Chilwell involved.

But hey, anything can happen right? Lukaku might even score! Wouldn't that be something..

  14. JohnnyMagrinho

Makes me laugh how a few people on here and other social media have been saying the pressure is on Liverpool to win their games to cement a top 4 finish ahead of Chelsea, because Spurs had games in hand and were bound to win those points - as if it was just a given.

Makes me think of DGW mentality too. Just because then an extra game doesn't mean it's a dead cert.

Now it's up to Spurs to make sure they do enough to see off Chelsea - that's what people will say anyway. Pretty sure they'll be fine though seeing as Chelsea are absolutely woeful of late.

Just one of those things - people jump at an eventuality way before it's happened. Always amusing.

Didn't like my double Everton with Pickford + Baines, so wanted to try another option.
    What about this for FH35?

    Ederson
    Baines Chambers Tomkins
    Salah Mané Sterling Zaha
    Firmino Aubameyang Jesus

    Nordfeldt - Long Dummett Elneny
    ITB 0.3

Template front 7 pending any breaking L´pool lineup news.
But like the cover in defence.
    - Ederson & Baines looking good for CS playing at home + Baines on set pieces
    - Chambers & Tomkins also good fixtures and like the potential for CS and attacking returns from both
    - Backup is Long from Burnley in case Chambers doesn't play, but I think he will based on the last starts

I have Vardy and Mahrez but don't have the FHC.

I'm looking to sell Alonso, Pogba and one of either Mahrez or Vardy. I have David Silva already and can either go triple Man City midfield, or keep Mahrez for his double and switch out Vardy for Jesus.

With Jesus being nailed (excuse the pun), I think he's safer than any other Man City player, in theory. Plus my ML rival has Vardy.

        1. Royal5

Got both Mahrez and Vardy myself. Extremely disappointed with Mahrez and will defo look to sell him over Vardy. Probably > Sterling.

If I keep Vardy, then I'd get Sterling and Sané to join Silva. I think I'll find it annoying if they get rotated while Jesus plays every game in the run in.

    6. JohnnyMagrinho

      Jesus Last 5 GW: 2 Goals, 2 assists = 23 points
      Mahrez last 5 GW: 2 Goals, 1 assist = 28 points

      Vardy last 5 GW: 4 Goals = 27 points
      Sane last 5 GW: 1 Goal, 1 Assist = 21 points

It really couldn't be closer on current point scoring.

I'd say go with your gut. Both Vardy and Jesus should be guaranteed starts but I'd say Mahrez is more of a certainty than Sane.

That's the only thing that would make me edge slightly closer to Mahrez, but saying that, City are more likely to score more goals in any given game than Leicester are.

Not much in it to be honest.

          Glad you found it helpful!

It just goes to show how similar the points spread has been, even though each of them have gone about it a different way.

Looking at this you'd be thinking maybe Vardy and Mahrez is the better option because they've scored more points together. But then you're limiting yourself to one game.

I personally think Vardy and Sane is the way to go out of these two options because I think Vardy is more likely to score for Leicester than Jesus is for Man City, and I see Sane as a great asset. Although really, I'd put Sterling ahead of Sane anyway!

Great answer, thanks Johnny! I'm being swayed to Jesus and Mahrez as my ML rival has neither currently, but does have Vardy, Kane and Lukaku. I guess he'll do Lukaku > Jesus, but I can't help that.

Mahrez seems too pricey but I do like his DGW.

        1. JohnnyMagrinho
          8 years, 3 months ago

No worries. The added complexity of trying to plan your team around a rival's doesn't help things, but mitigation is never a bad strategy either.

What will the rest of your attacking line up be? If you think Vardy will score points as well Jesus, and are pretty sure your rival will have them both, is it not feasibly for you to outscore him in midfield?

I'm looking at this front 8.

            Salah - Mahrez - Silva - Sterling - Eriksen
            Aubameyang - Jesus - Barnes

Barnes will become Ayew in GW37.

            The alternative would be:

            Salah - Sané - Silva - Sterling - Eriksen
            Aubameyang - Vardy - Barnes

But with money ITB to do Aubameyang > Kane in 36. Another twist!

I guess Chelsea will field a strong team vs Burnley now with Spurs dropping points tonight.

If Chelsea win vs Burnley then they'd be only 5 points behind Spurs with 4 games to go. CL spot is crucial.

      Knew this comment was coming.

Burnley away is not an easy game. They also have Liverpool in the penultimate game of the season.

They will be relying on Spurs dropping a lot more points over the next few weeks too, will be a big ask.

True but they just can't play a weak team now with the gap being only 5 points.

They have to go full strength and do their bit first.

FA Cup is probably more important given the game both teams have.

Just don't see it happening. Didn't see it happening RE: catching Liverpool, don't see it against Spurs.

For a start I just don't see Spurs dropping enough points for Chelsea to be able to catch them anyway. Besides, Chelsea will need Spurs to lose games they should be winning (granted they haven't been great last two games but they're good enough to rectify that issue) and to also pretty much not falter themselves.

They were lucky to they didn't lose against Southampton. Burnley have won 5 on the bounce and are absolute quality. I reckon they're a better team than Chelsea at the moment by a mile. Liverpool are far too good for Chelsea if they keep playing the way they have been.

They've also got Swansea and Newcastle away - I don't think they will be straightforward games for this Chelsea side whatsoever.

Plus, Conte is going at the end of the season so that can't help team chemistry.

Win from 2-0 down away from home should give them a lot of confidence.

Who's going with Gundogan in GW 35?
He should start since Fernandinho is still banned and he's potentially on pens.

Yeah, I can't really justify putting him in ahead of KdB with the season he's had.
The only benefit to doing so would mean a stronger bench but I'm not too bothered about it.

Which mids would you trust to play more minutes through the end of the season?
    1) City regulars
    2) Liverpool regulars

        1. JohnnyMagrinho
          8 years, 3 months ago

          Sorry - late response.

Mili, Shaq and Zaha are probably the best of the bunch down there to be honest.

From City: KDB, Sterling and Jesus seem pretty nailed.

From Liverpool: Mane is more nailed than Salah or Firmino BUT they all seem to play at least part of the games they don't start, so it's unlikely they'll ever miss a full GW.

From Spurs: Eriksen and Kane obviously nailed. Ali and Son could rotate around. Lamela and Lucas might play more but they aren't guaranteed enough minutes and aren't good enough in my opinion.

From United: I wouldn't want anyone other than Lukaku, DDG or Valencia to be honest. The rest is a minefield.

Personally I'd avoid Chelsea altogether other than Willian on the off chance he actually scores.

After that I'd be looking at players like Shelvey/Arnautovic/JWP from the lesser teams. Mahrez is always a good option as is Gross as you said.

There's not a lot to choose from and it's a massive 'who knows' point of the season where player rotation will probably creep into more games.

Probably just go with your gut. Depends if you're chasing or not too. Do you need a differential? Do you need to keep up with the rest of the pack? Can you afford to take a hit?

    3. JohnnyMagrinho

I second this. Everton are woeful. They're absolute dross and you know exactly how they're gonna play against Newcastle, regardless of them being at home.

Newcastle look GOOD lately. They're playing with conviction and Perez has suddenly decided he can play football.

Obviously it's like anything - can he keep it up? Maybe it's one game too many but I think he's definitely worth a punt. I've got him in my team anyway.

      1. MTPockets
        8 years, 3 months ago

But they're not absolute dross at home. 2 clean sheets in last 3 home (same as Arsenal, better than most teams playing).

        1. JohnnyMagrinho
          8 years, 3 months ago

I certainly don't trust Everton at home. Last two games at home they drew 0-0 with Liverpool's B team and were lucky not to lose and lost 3-1 to Man City.

Before that they managed a 2-0 win over Brighton but have found it hard to put any sort of consistency together whatsoever.

Newcastle have won 4 in a row including beating Arsenal and Leciester (away) so I'm inclined to think they're one of the worst teams Everton could face at home at the moment.

    4. stat

I think he's a decent pick but I prefer Zaha vs Watford (as well as KDB - Sterling - Salah - Mane), and I'm not downgrading Jesus/Auba to Perez.

I know he's a forward but I can't start 2 strikers if I'm going with 5 mids, and I can't afford to upgrade my bench striker to Perez either

As much as I would like to get him, I don't have a FH any longer, so I'd probably have to stick with him for the run-in. Wouldn't be the worst thing, but I'm not thrilled by those 37 fixtures.
