Arriving in the midst of a lukewarm Double Gameweek, the latest episode of the ScoutCast is more intent on looking ahead as the entire five-man crew press the button on the Free Hit chip.

We’re back to full strength, as Granville, Jonty, Andy and Az join me to discuss our approach to Gameweek 35’s slimline schedule, inspired by another round of your community questions.

That attacking riches on offer from Manchester City and Liverpool dominate the early chatter, as we give our take on the run-in targets least likely to suffer from rotation to feature for Free Hitters and the “chipless” this weekend.

We then pan for Gameweek 35 gold in less familiar territory, as we re-open the Coleman vs Baines debate ahead of their meeting with a Newcastle outfit perhaps already in flip-flops after four straight wins.

End of season template busters help round things off before we career into the regular weekend preview to offer early thoughts on the Gameweek armband.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Femenia? His team are in awful form and I read recently that they have the worst home defence in the league with 40+ goals conceded. Otherwise, looks good.

Watching that Morata miss has inspired me to think of a Prem 11 of season fails.

    Hart
    Keane Lindelol Francis
    Sanchez Bakayoko R.Sanches Walcott
    Morata Benteke Lacazette

    Manager - De Boer

Didn't put too much thought into it, so don't get angry 🙂

    Thoughts?

That lineup looks pretty good (or should that be bad...?) Williams has been atrocious as well for everton this season.

Agree, but Keane gets in there for the hope he brought Everton fans after a solid season with Burnley

Yes it's weird how some previously great defenders suddenly forget how to defend when they go to a new club. For example lovren didn't put a foot wrong at saints, but at Liverpool he looks like a liability every time he plays.

I think Lacazette has been decent actually, all things considered. (given his injury, the Aubameyang arrival, and the inconsistency of the players behind him)

  3. stat

Assuming both start, would you go for Laca vs WHU or Firmino vs wba?
Laca is on pens when Auba isn't on the pitch (or on a hattrick!)

Laca - but what did Wenger say today? Still watching Scoutcast so haven't checked presser.

      1. stat
        8 years, 3 months ago

Asked if Aubameyang would start against West Ham, Wenger told reporters: ‘I don’t know. I haven’t decided that. ‘He cannot play on Thursday so I’m not sure to play him at the moment.’

Pressed on whether Aubameyang’s ineligibility against Atletico made it harder to prepare for the Europa League semi-final, Wenger continued: ‘Yes it’s true. ‘I would say most of the time after the Europa League games it was a help because I could rest some players and bring some fresh players in.

‘But when you prepare for the Europa League it’s more of a handicap because you cannot prepare.’

Cheers. This seems like classic deflection, though, and makes no sense from Wenger's perspective. Of course he doesn't want to say who he will play, but why would he rest Auba if he cannot play him on Thursday? He will 100% play, I feel like, unless I'm misunderstanding this quote.

          1. stat
            8 years, 3 months ago

From what I understood, instead of rotating players in order to save them for the EL, he's using the West Ham game as preparation for the EL, so he's likely to leave out Auba since he can't feature in the EL.

I have a nasty feeling that Pope is going to be dropped this weekend for Heaton as he looked dodgy and was partly to blame for both goals vs Chelsea. That would suck, because my backup keeper Adrian is stuck on the hammers' bench. Then again, Hart hasn't looked great either lately, so maybe he's dropped as well...?

i didn't see the goals but from what i've read you could be right , i think i'll pull the trigger on Courtois to Ederson leaving Pope on the bench just in case

Otamendi is the best option, I think, cause he can pair him with Laporte, Kompany, even Stones (if he's fit). Walker will play but probably won't get bonus with a clean sheet, while Ota is almost guaranteed them given his position and style.

Oh, he surely could, I just don't see him resting Otamendi. He's played virtually the whole season, until resting him last weekend, and I feel like that was a strategic move to shore up the defense once they were ahead. Kompany may well play ...

I agree with you although Bravo could get a few games, Diaz, Foden, etc. Think it might be tough for Bravo to get the 5 games necessary for a Prem medal but Mendy could come back in and the young lads. Playing Bravo for the last 4 games (to add to his Liverpool appearance) would basically destroy City's chance of record goals differential.

I would have thought the awarding of the trophy, etc. would have ensured a fairly standard team this GW. Correct me if my assumption is wrong though.

am doing a post-34 mortem for myself:

1 game players: Salah*, Morgan, Alonso, Son, Willian, Kaku**
Players that blanked 2 games: Ryan, Lowton, Mahrez,

    *SGW player
**Subbed on and scored in 2nd game

All the front 3 players scored 8 points = 1 goal and 1 blank. Decent enough, i guess. Most disappointing of this is the fact that I had more 1 game players than what the fixtures indicated.

Pretty solid, I'd say, even with unexpected blanks.

was expecting more honestly. The fact that the casuals in my ML didn't prepare for DGW and still had very good scores is gutting.

Juts realised City's GW 37 matches are not even 4 days apart. IMO Sterling and KDB to be rested for 1 out of 2

True. Makes taking hits for City players on basis of them playing DGW a little more questionable

Saturday morning! I think Salah has to start, golden boot isn't a done deal and mathematically top 4 isn't either.

What time Saturday morning? I live in America so might have to wake up at 3 or 4 am to make the deadline if I wait for the leaked lineup...

What time has it come out in the past in England?

Kickoff is at 12:30. Team should be known before deadline.

80 points behind my ML leader. Is everything over for this season?

Thinking of making these moves as a last throw of the dice.

Lukaku Mahrez Willian Gross -> Jesus Sterling Sane Kenedy (-12)

Thoughts? That would give me 10 players for GW35 while my ML leader is playing his WC

I think 80 a bit steep but not 100% impossible. Keep believing mate!

Hard to predict City team. I wouldn't pick 3. I have none. Seems silly for your opponent to use wildcard on a blank gameweek.

i was 100 pts behind my ML leader 2 GW ago but now i managed to cut the gap to 47pts. Nothing is impossible.

Maybe just Lukaku and Willian to Jesus Sterling for -4 if u can afford that

    Why did Morgan not start?

Super frustrating that we all bought him over Chilwell because we thought he was more nailed and Chilwell has outscored him by 13 points in that time.

Dragovic is a better player, and Morgan has been at fault for a lot of the defensive frailty of Leicester.

    Rate my FH please

    Karius
    Baines PVA Monreal
    Milivo Salah Mane Sterling KDB(C)
    Auba Jesus

    Bauer - 3.9 - 3.9 - 4.5

    any thought welcome

Captaining KDB for differential to chase as my rivals also use FH this week

Very good. De Bruyne maybe not a great captain pick, not bringing big returns recently. Swansea will defend doggedly. Salah or Auba maybe better picks even if your rivals think similarly.

For City. Not necessarily for De Bruyne. Jesus, Sterling or Dane more likely to bring bigger returns than him.
