We now check in with the form of a number of Double Gameweek 37 candidates in our regular analysis of the members’ Opta data.

Man City’s attack shows no signs of complacency since clinching the title, while Southampton appear to have reason for optimism in their bid to beat the drop.

Meanwhile, we assess the recent showings of Spurs and Leicester’s frontmen, while Man United and Chelsea’s midfield make a late claim for our attention ahead of Friday evening’s deadline.

    Note to self for next year:
    Don't WC 4 weeks before you plan to use BB.

    Looking at

    Morgan - Simpson - Stephens - Christensen
    Mahrez - Willian - Son - Lingard

    In absolute shock/disgust

      It's amazing how quickly good picks can go off the boil. The second WC has much less staying power

    40 points off top 10k atm.

    Team atm -

    DDG - Fabianski
    Vertonghen - Smalling - Naughton - Stephens - Dummett
    Sterling - Sane - Alli - Arnautovic - Ramsey
    Kane - Jesus - Ayew

    1 FT and 0m itb.

    Will be replacing Stephens with my FT. BB in 37.

    Can I reach top 10 k?

        Yeah. The safe captain choices are Kane and Salah for the next 2 gws. But, I'm itching to captain a City player this gw.

    Sorry to repost, but hate it when it gets bottomed...

    Lukaku owner here (and already have Kane and Jesus). Going to drop him for Aubameyang or Lacazette (I'm expecting Arsenal to be eliminated from Europe on Thursday). Which of these two Arsenal Forwards would you go with?

    Evening people!

    Chasing a 37 point deficit in ML, I have BB this week, he has no chips, and currently 8 dgws.

    My team as is:

    Ddg, Dubra
    Davies, Robertson, Mustafi, Yedlin, Long
    Salah, Sterling, Zaha, Gundogan, Mili
    Jesus, Vardy, Aubameyang

    2ft, 1.2 itb

    His different players are:

    Karius, Begovic
    Maguire, Otamendi, Tarko, Smalling, Mariappa
    Willian, Gross

    Couple of options:

    A) Robertson, Long, Salah to Smalling, Naughton, Eriksen
    B) Robertson, Salah, Vardy to Naughton, Arnie, Kane
    C) Robertson, Salah, Zaha to Naughton, Eriksen, Pogba

    Any thoughts appreciated

    Evening guys. Still contemplating my options where to downgrade to get Jesus in for Vardy. Feel free to propose other ideas to what I have below

    De Gea
    Vertonghen, Alonso, Morgan
    Sanchez, Willian, Sterling, Gross
    Barnes, Kane, Vardy

    Subs: Ryan --- Milivojevic, Femenia, Lowton --- 1 FT, 0.5 ITB

    A) Vardy & Sanchez -> Jesus & Eriksen/ Sane (-4)
    B) Vardy & Gross -> Jesus & Fernandinho (-4)
    C) Vardy & Willian -> Jesus & Lingard (-4)

            Thanks for your thoughts on this. Eriksen feels like the safest choice of all those downgrades. Nevertheless Spurs not on greatest form but they still need couple wins to get that top 4. This ei ld also allow me to do Eriksen to Salah for free on gw 37 if Salah drops in price although Sanchez as a placeholder would allow that too.

        Do you mind explaining why you think Smalling will score more points than Valencia? Surely Valencia is more nailed than Smalling and gets forward more? I have Valencia in my WC team and would love to downgrade him to Smalling to free up funds elsewhere.

        What's your theory?

      Can you afford just Morgan to Danilo? Not sure Willian to Ramsey is worth the hit otherwise.

        I can, just worried that Willian might not feature much in the DGW

        1. Flaming Flamingo

          The way I see it he's likely to play the Huddersfield game and miss out on Liverpool. Even if it's the other way around, then it only means he's more likely to start in GW38 too. Ramsey is by no means guaranteed to play the remaining three games either imo.

          1. stat
            8 years, 2 months ago

            Yeah that's a good point. Just looking around for options under 7.5m and there's not really much choice - there's Tadic, and even though Southampton are battling to stay up I just can't see them scoring a ton of goals away to Everton and Swansea. Then you have someone like Lingard with decent games but not guaranteed to start both games.

            Perhaps it's best to just stick with Willian as you're implying - he did well in the return fixtures (scored against Liverpool after coming off the bench, and got 1 goal and 2 assists vs Huddersfield).

            I probably won't stick with him in GW 38 because he'll make way so I can bring Salah in (will also have to downgrade Vardy to fund it).

    What to do this week. Gotta get Jesus in.

    DDG (Ryan)
    Vertonghen, Cedric, Morgan
    Sterling, Son, Mahrez, Gross
    Kane, Vardy, Murray

    Salah / Masuaku / Lowton / £1.3m itb

    I'm considering these options:
    A. Mahrez & Murray -> Gundogan & Jesus (-4)
    B. Mahrez, Murray & Gross -> Gundogan, Jesus & Tadic (-8)
    C. Son & Murray -> Kenedy & Jesus (-4)

    Tadic looks a big differential and Southampton may be clicking at the moment but my worry is Tadic’s away form. His recent points hauls have been at home, the majority of his attacking points all season have been at home. His stats in the comparison took suggest he’s far better at home. Yet he has two away fixtures.

    I really want to take a punt especially as his price is so handy but unless I’m missing something he doesn’t look a great bet even for a punt?

        So am I, but the evidence (even recent form) may suggest his two away games look bleak for points.

    Just been thinking, after watching the Bayern vs Real Madrid game today, are you a more result oriented or play oriented football fan? For example in the game today, Bayern played by far the better football yet it was Real Madrid that got the result they needed.

    A team like Real Madrid play some rather unattractive football for a club with their budget, facilities and fan base but there is no doubt that they are one of the best in the business for results.

    So are you more of a United or Liverpool? Real or Barca? Mourinho or Klopp?

      In principle? Klopp, Barca and Liverpool of course. In practice I'd rather my team wins, 100%. In order of preference

      1) Play good football and win
      2) Play boring football and win
      3) Play good football and lose

      Do you think there's any Greek who objected to the type of football Greece played in 2004? In fact it's even a matter of national pride that Greece managed to grind down superior footballing teams with their grit, determination etc.

      (Having said all that, basketball is my main sport that I have strong team allegiances for. Football is mostly purely for pleasure)
