Liverpool make it to the Champions League final – with a touch of stress – but their key assets are fast losing Fantasy appeal regardless.

An extraordinary semi-final tie with Roma was, to all intents and purposes, won in the first leg, with the result confirmed early in the second, thanks to away goals from Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum.

That didn’t stop the match finishing 4-2 to the Italians, and the aggregate score reading 7-6 to the Reds, as a last-minute (and incredibly harsh) penalty decision given for a handball by substitute Ragnar Klavan kept the contest captivating to its final seconds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will now face Real Madrid in the final, a full 13 days after the end of the domestic season.

That mini-break, and the fact that Liverpool are yet to nail down Champions League football for next season, should keep rotation off Klopp’s agenda.

But the team’s lack of a Double Gameweek 37 means many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already seen enough.

Their two most popular players, Mohamed Salah (57.6%) and Roberto Firmino (37.0%), are the top two transfers-out heading into the penultimate Gameweek of the season, with a combined quarter of a million owners selling the pair on.

Neither impressed in Rome last night, with Firmino unusually profligate in possession, although he did set up Mane’s opener.

As for Salah, he was frequently caught offside and gave the impression of a man trying too hard to add to his 43 goals for the season.

The Egyptian has now gone scoreless in back-to-back matches for only the second time since the middle of October.

He’s failed to score in three straight matches just the once, and Sunday’s trip to Chelsea will be a tough fixture to avoid a repeat of that run.

Klopp has consistently stated that he will not rotate his side unduly until a top-four finish is confirmed, and he maintained that stance even in the immediate aftermath of last night’s result.

“Chelsea at the weekend is an unbelievably important game for us. I give the boys tonight; it’s cool, they don’t drink alcohol, but they will stay a little bit longer awake and then we recover tomorrow…We have two very important Premier League games then let’s go there (the final) and try our best.”

That doesn’t look like being enough to stem sales in the pair or, indeed, other key members of the side.

Left-back Andrew Robertson, who had an excellent match in Rome, is in the top four for transfers out, with Mane at six and both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold also in the top 30.

The young right-back, in particular, had a tough time of it in Rome, though with Joe Gomez sidelined and Nathanial Clyne still edging back to fitness, Alexander-Arnold will still be expected to be on duty at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool’s superior goal difference means that a draw with Chelsea will effectively guarantee them Champions League football for next season, which would make Gameweek 38’s home match with Brighton a dead rubber.

Fantasy managers are clearly not keen to wait that long, with Double Gameweek 37 players from both Manchester clubs, Spurs and, pending tonight’s Europa League result, Arsenal offering more clear-cut points potential than Klopp’s troops.

Those unwilling, or unable, to sell on their Liverpool assets can at least find some comfort in Chelsea’s poor defensive record of late.

The Blues’ clean sheet at Swansea City in Gameweek 36 was their first in eight league matches, and they haven’t managed a home shut-out since Gameweek 27.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have failed to score away from home only three times – and in six league matches in total – all season, although two of those blanks have come in the past four Gameweeks.

    Morgan - Dunk - Mustafi
    Willian - Salah - Sterling - Lingard
    Vardy - Jesus - Kane

    (Ryan - Tarks - Lowton - L.Cook)

Already done Lukaku to Jesus, considering Dunk to Naughton &/or Willian to Pogba. Each move would be for a hit...yay or nay??

I jealous that you have 1ft to burn and shipping Son is your most pressing issue, well planned mate.

I think son will get game time in both matches and probably start at least one. Arnie will play 180 minutes but their prospects are fairly equal. I think it's fairly sideways, nowhere else you could tighten up?

I used WC last week for this week so have 14 DGWers and Salah. I agree that Son > Arnie is a bit sideways so I'm fairly happy with everyone so will save so I have 2FT for GW38

Lads, is Danilo seriously an option?

Is there any real likelihood of him playing both games?

I mean I know no-one knows, so this is largely a pointless question and life has no real meaning anyway and I forget what point I was making

He'd be an excellent pick if we get any clues. My fear is that Pep won't give anything away and we are left guessing. If we hear nothing, I'll change my defender move to Mawson.

He didn't play him vs Liverpool second leg and pep plays wingers at wingback positions.Sometimes he plays 3 at the back and fernandinho to sit before them like 3-1-3-3.So even though walker maybe injured not sure its safe to bet on 2 starts on danilo

    DDG
    Morgan Alonso Cedric
    Salah Sterling Son Willian Gross
    Kane Jesus

    Ryan - Dunk - Barnes - Lowton

Mahrez and Vardy to Sterling and Jesus but am 1.2 short for this.
Who would you downgrade to fund these moves for a -4 ?

    a) Alonso -> Danilo/Laporte/Mawson
    b) Gross -> King
    c) Son -> Tadic
    d) Willian -> Ritchie/Fernandinho

    Hello everyone

I am currently on 2,151 points and am leading my mini-leagues by 8 pts and 30 pts respectively. My current team is as follows:

    DDG / Ryan
    Lowton/Long/Smalling/Chilwell/Robertson
    Salah/Willian/Mahrez/Gross/Albrighton
    Barnes/Kane/Lukaku
I have two free transfers and I am almost certainly going to do Salah and Lukaku to Jesus and Sterling. This will leave me with 2.5m in the bank. The FA Cup final is some time away so I feel I should keep Willian as I think he will play in both fixtures and take a 4pt hit to upgrade one of my defenders.

Another thought I had was to take a 8pt hit and upgrade William and Robertson to Son/Sane and Trippier.

Also debating who to TC so any suggestions on this point would be welcome as well. Many thanks.

    Kane Ayew Jesus

B: The 'bag of UHU behind the bikesheds' team

    Ederson
    Vertonghen Mawson Valencia
    Hazard Sanchez Eriksen Sterling Arnie
    Ayew Jesus

    Cheers in advance,

So it's Sanchez + Valencia vs Kane + Smalling

If you are chasing, B, otherwise A.

So the points on the previous page suggest there’s a small gain to make from moves like this for a HIT. It’s small but there

    Kante to Alli
    Willian to arnie
    Morgan to Danilo

Then moves like Vardy to j ayew can be ok to enable but not for gain

Got to keep kante! He’s due

Haha nailed at least I guess

All examples of DGWers that we could remove for a hit

        2+3=5 (+4 if no HIT)

9 points is not a bad score

It’s also complete guesswork in every respect - I wouldn’t pin all your hopes and dreams on the predictions of fantasy football losers/virgins like us 🙂

Oh the whole game is guesswork it’s why I wanted many replies and yes it may have bias within. Then it’s a case of ceilings and floors I guess.

Players like Willian and Morgan have floors as low as you can get. Willian much more of a ceiling.

          Very fair point.

Keeping Willian for that reason I think. If, and it’s a huge if, he plays 150+ minutes he could score huge.

    B) Alli + Baines (-4)
    D) Hazard + Baines (-4)
    C) Alli + Alonso (-8)

ahahaha wow.. copy and paste mistake, had it in ABCD order before and cut Alli + Alonso and pasted them to the bottom so the hits were in order (-4, -4, -8) but forgot to change the letter lol

Surely there’s a more exciting move. It seems sideways maybe with a tiny incline at most

If there's no other way you can improve your team and your happy with it for 38 too with 1FT, then yes.

I was just about to ask this too. Any Chelsea fans in the know to what the story is? Is he defo out of favour? If he is going to get 9 mins in 2 weeks again he has to go!

    A) Barnes + Salah --> Ayew and KDB
    B) Barnes and Lowton --> Ayew and Danilo (if Walker's injured)?

Both would be for -8 as already made a FT.

I'm bench boosting this week, anything worth a hit in here?:

    Courtois
    Smalling, Morgan, Davies
    Arnie, DSilva, Kenedy, Salah,
    Kane, Jesus, Barnes

    Cech, Mili, Lowton, Tomkins
    2.4itb 0ft

Considering Barnes >> Rashford if Lukaku is confirmed out as a differential
