Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - why isn't he is the predicted lineup?

He's in 7% of teams, plays for lazio, linked to man utd real madrid and juve and is worth close to 130m euros

Seems like Serbia gonna play some defensive football with Matic and Milivojevic.

Yeah, I thought he may play further forward but they still want him in central midfield. I'll have to go back to kostic and have a better bench

Bench boosting week 1? Otherwise, one more big name defender by changing Meza or Belhanda to a 4.5. Otherwise, I like it.

This is a very backwards move. The 4.5 defenders are so much better than the 4.5 mids.

I've been watching the RMTs and the evolving template. Al Dawsari and more recently Belhanda have been getting super popular. Can someone tell me why that is? Or do you think ppl are just copying who they see others picking?

    1. Pierce34
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 6 months ago

Copying of course. I haven't got the faintest clue who they even are 😛

I just picked Al Dawsari in order to have some interest in the opening game.

    2. Bad Kompany

Probably casuals just copying. Had to google them when I first saw them and i don’t have them in my team

I mean sure they're cheap and they probably start, but they play for terrible teams and neither has done much in his career. Belhanda is hardly a break-out candidate either, at 28 or whatever he is.

I have skipped past every RMT without looking and i do not have Al Dawsari if that helps.

Herd mentality seems to be a thing on this site so i suspect copying could be the answer.

I would like to challenge managers with Al Dawsari on their teams to pick him out of a line up. 😉

            From the OP
"Not easy to get a good format on here! I've sorted from best to worst in two scenarios.

If you want to view it better, copy and paste into Excel. After you've done that, click 'Data', then 'Text to Columns', and add the '|' symbol (that's not a capital i - it's the 'shift + \' key) and you'll be able to view it better, sort how you want.

Will probably change my mind before tomorrow but I just wanted a team with Neymar. How's it look?

    El Kajoui, Uzoho
    Meunier, Danilo, Pavard, Varela, Dalsgaard
    Eriksen, James, Ziyech, Meza, Inui
    Neymar, Lukaku, Cavani

    C rotation: Cavani-->Eriksen-->Neymar-->Lukaku-->James

I do think we've pretty much cracked it. The key value spots in this pricing system are:

Great 4.5m def options. I mean we cover Uruguay, France and Denmark. That's huge.
Talismanic mids - James, Eriksen, Ziyech
Cram as much as we can to save on the forwards prioritizing Lukaku.

Not for the first two weeks. Akanji is awful against Brazil. But after yeah maybe.

great for R3 WC, same like many other options that don't look so good atm (Cueva,...)

I agree. I had Coutinho & Mbappe before but Ziyech & Neymar looks so much better, the problem is the 1m difference which resulted in Meza, but I can live with that 🙂

Noticed the article doesn't have Inui starting who I currently have in my squad?

Surely he has to be a starter? As talented as anyone else in japan aside from Kagawa. Got a brace in their most recent friendly as well.

I don't have a clue about Japan's starting lineup but I wouldn't read too much into these lineups. They have Milinkovic-Savic on the bench for Serbia and he's their best player.

It doesn't matter, he's just an enabler. And you'll be able to see if he starts before subbing him on, if that's an issue.

Sure but I have an easy 1m free from Marcelo > Danilo if I want. Would rather take a 5.5 option and make that switch if needed if Inui won't start.

I'd do Marcelo > Danilo either way. Too similar and 1m is a lot. Could get Meza for 5.5 (have them both), but I don't expect much from him either.

Inui is not a starter. The coach said he'd make a lot of changes for the final warm up game.

He was involved in 3 of their 4 goals though. Surely that gives him a chance.

Have decided to use maximum captain in semis and bench boost in finals. Here's why:

The value of these chips are seriously undermined by the ability to make substitution and captain changes within a game week (since you can sub out all the 1 or 2 pointers before the final day of matches as well as have several bites at the captain pick). It thus seems to me that these chips are most valuable when you have limited ability to sub players and change captain. In the semis and finals you only have 1 chance to sub/ change captain.. so I think these chips are maximised then.

I'd play the maximum captain in the semis because it may be hard to get a playing 15 after quarter final teams are eliminated. However, because the final also includes the third place playoff, all players who play in the semis would also arguably play in the last gw (controlling for injuries, suspensions and rotation). We can thus use the generous 5 free transfers to ensure we have a playing 15 for the bench boost in the last week.

Agree completely. Using chips/wildcard in the group stage is bonkers.

Agree on the chips. Wildcard I intend to use before the gw3... Plug in players from teams with must win games.. and then change them out with the unlimited transfers before Round of 16.

Said this yesterday - nobody was with me. Maybe I didn't explain it as well as you!

The only issue is potential inability to afford 15 playing players from the final/3ppo, but then I was thinking that a whole host of defenders from the final and differential attackers from the 3ppo shouldn't be too hard.

That's a fair point. Though I think the extra 5m budget would be handy. Besides assuming you would play 7 attackers anyway without the bench boost, what you are really trying to afford is 1 keeper, 2 defenders and 1 attacker for the bench boost. In any case, I would've assumed even those not playing the bench boost would want a decent bench since you can make substitutions between the semis and between the third place and finals.

The Spanish FA messed up bad sacking the manager 48 hours before the games begin. It has to affect their preparation and throwing Hierro in at the deep end is a huge and unnecessary gamble.

It is not as if it is the first time a manager accepted an offer from a club before a tournament got under way like LVG did before the last WC.It was Lopetegui’s own business really and Luis Rubiales should have swallowed his pride and got over it for the greater good instead of putting his own head on the chopping block when this inevitably backfires.

Maybe, but don't you think that RM should've at least informed him of the approach to Lopetegui? I understand your point of the instability that results from the sacking, and the poor timing as well. But, honestly, I feel that if a manager does this sort of thing behind his boss' back, it kind of shows a lack of respect. Also, going to Real Madrid, one of the two biggest teams in SPAIN, mind you, would present a huge conflict between the RealMadrid-Barcelona contingent of the squad. Would Sergio Busquets want to be ordered around by a future Real boss? Would Gerard Pique open himself up to a coach who will use that knowledge against him in a few months time?
It's a massive blunder by Lopetegui, he already has the most coveted position in Spanish Football, and to toss it aside in the manner he did by publicly showing his commitment to a big Spanish club is unprofessional and ill advised.

agreed, i think the FA handled this situation better than any other party involved tbh. the more i think about it the more i think it was the only option.

Of course the timing of the announcement could have been handled better by RM.

I get you what you are saying about the division in Spanish football and Lopetegui being appointed manager might rub a few of the Catalans up the wrong way but i can not see how appointing Hierro who was a big stalwart for RM over the years would solve that.

The way i read it is that Luis Rubiales got a rush of blood to the head made a bad decision and is going to pay the price with his own head when the dust settles.

Surely you get more points from auto subs then trying to be clever and manually picking each day...

If a manager substitution or captain change is made, then no automatic substitutions will take place in your team for that Round.

    Kane - Neymar - Kaku.

    Eriksen - Mueller - Cueva.

    Meunier - Mojica - Varela - Hakimi.

    Smeichel.

    Uzoho - Sabali - Colindres.

Players who are substituted out will score 0 points.

If you do play the subbing game then surely you only do that on the penultimate day of games so you don't lose out...or is my logic flawed

You leave your players playing latest on the bench.

Mine is currently Lukaku, Meunier, JRod & the Nigerian GK. GK comes in if starter doesn't have a CS. Other 3 will come in for blankers.

As much as we like to think every pick will do well, there will be blanks and surprising ones too, strong squad and bench will be valuable.
