World Cup Fantasy managers will have to respond quickly to the emerging trends in Russia, as they prepare their transfers ahead of the Gameround 2 deadline on Tuesday.

We’ve taken our first look at the Opta World Cup data, which is exclusively available to members after the completion of each match.

Our analysis covers all fixtures contested in Groups A-F, with a scrutiny of Group G and H to follow before the second set of group matches commence.

Not surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.0m) has been at the heart of the transfer market in recent days following his 16-point haul in Portugal’s opening fixture: since Friday night, his ownership has doubled.

Elsewhere, there appears to be a strong case to load up on Uruguay players ahead of their match with Saudi Arabia, while the underlying statistics should provide some consolation to owners of Lionel Messi and Neymar following the £12.0m-rated forwards’ opening-match blanks.

JRod, A NDaiye and Sabaly in for my two pointers is a no brainer, right?

Could be out. Yeah, feeling quietly confident about Senegal after seeing their odds earlier - expected them to be longer for tomorrow’s game

Just not training makes me worried it’s something a bit more, maybe a more severe muscle problem. If hes in their starting XI I’m obviously playing him. Just not sure what to do otherwise

if possible yep. you might as well take the risk on Sabaly, 4 points 4 gain, 1 to lose at best it seems

Yes, very true. What do you think about NDaiye. I heard he plays deep but popped up with a couple of assists in friendlies recently. I’m tempted to play him too, even just for the reason of having more players to support tomorrow

honestly, again it looks like there's nothing to lose in regards to subbing him in, so I think its worth it. As you said, the assist potential is there as well

WC ahead of GW3, or ahead of the QF? Fair to say we'll need to be pretty good at predicting the outcomes of the Last 16 with only 3 free transfers allowed for the Quarters?

    1. F4L
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

I mean, most of the ties should be more less easy to predict, however I do think WC ahead of the QFs is the best strategy

Can trim your squad down to 12 or 13 definites and a few 4m fodders and an extra 5 million with QF WC. Also lets you go bananas with last 16 freehits in great form and not be bothered if they make it to the QFs.

You've all sold me on the idea. My original plan before this all started was to WC in GW3, and as such I picked my team based on the first 2 games, so my team doesn't look as good as I'd like it for the final round of group games (4 players in the Eng v Bel game, 2 Morocco players vs Spain, Ljajic vs Brazil) but maybe it will work out OK.

Worth keeping Cueva on a WC or is there anyone else to consider at that price?

At the rate pens are being dished out I'd keep hold of him. (I know he fluffed the last one but he has a decent record of scoring them beforehand)

yes very much so, to my surprise. I think he registered 4/5 shots, some were really decent chances. Didn't expect him to be so attacking as he usually plays LB for his club side, but I don't see any reason as to why he wouldn't play in the same vein in the rest of the group matches

not really to be honest, seeing stats like Firmino had more shots and SOTs in the 11 mins he played compared to Jesus' 79 has me worried. Plus I can see Suarez/Costa doing well from here on in

cheers. Yes Ziyech is the main problem I feel, his performance against Iran was sub par, not convincing. Hard to find an adequate replacement at that price though, unlike Jesus (straight swap for Costa). Only reason im torn really

    M. Ryan/ Uzoho

Hegazy, Varela, Kutepov / M. Akanji, H. Sakai

Kroos, Coutinho, Isco, Cheryshev / Bentacur

    Messi, Kane, Cavani

Save it for the Final/3rd-4th place play off round.

You should still be able to move the armband round this week to land on a high scorer.

      1. Ziyech on the Bench
        • 8 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

Hmmm Idk man, I think that during the group stages teams get the easiest match ups...hence the potential for points is at its peak. Final / 3/4th place games are usually tight and everyone has similar players so the differential isn't that great.

    2. OldBenKenobi
      • 9 Years

Logic is hopefully a lot have already used it. Plus there’s less chances to switch captains so make sense to use it later as there’s less options

Gabriel Jesus - a possible risk of being dropped for the Costa Rica game? Thinking I may use my FT to bring in Costa for him. But as I have Cavani already it means I have two good captain options playing on the same day, and no real good captain options when Jesus would be playing.

So looks like next round is kind of a must-win for us - tempting to play bench boost even though it's definitely not the correct strategy long-term! 😀

I wouldn't. Having looked at who we're playing, I think we have a fair shout of a win. Just keep an eye on Jia. I was very relieved to see he changed his captain today, it had been stuck on Cavani's two points.

If you give me a couple of mins, I'll let you know what our next opponents have scored so far.

                    45 +3 players, 50 +1 and 50 +1

I suspect it'll be a close run thing next round.

Indeed - what kind of moves are you thinking? Personally, I want rid of Ziyech and Al-Dawsari. I really want to wildcard in order to get some more players I want (Isco and Costa for instance) but I'm holding for the knockouts.

I've known him for a couple of years now - he's not a casual and knows how to play the game.

    Suarez, Lukaku, Sterling
    Eriksen, James, Uribe
    Varela, Trippier, Meunier, Sabaly
    Muslera

El Kajoui, Granqvist, Ziyach, Al Dawarsi

I've already tranferred out Pavard for Varela. Sterling for Costa proper for a 4pt hit and hold on to my Wild Card?

      I've played my BB already.
