After the all-too-swift turnaround between Gamerounds 1 and 2, Fantasy managers have some welcome breathing space before the third set of World Cup group fixtures get underway at 3pm on Monday.

With McDonald’s FIFA allowing unlimited transfers between the end of the group stage and the start of the knockout rounds, this is a great opportunity for Fantasy managers to take a one-match punt on players with a favourable fixture in Gameround 3.

We’ve scanned through Opta’s World Cup data for the 16 Group A-D fixtures contested so far to see how the underlying statistics could influence Fantasy managers’ transfers ahead of the Gameround 3 deadline. Fantasy Football Scout users can do the same in the Members’ area, which is updated after the completion of each match.

Those playing McDonald’s FIFA have, unsurprisingly, acquired the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Denis Cheryshev and Diego Costa in their droves ahead of the final round of group fixtures, while Lionel Messi‘s ownership dwindles by the hour.

Cheers mate, I have a feeling he will try to improve his WC scoring record therefore should be on penos (rather than Ozil).

I also feel that Lowe may start with Mueller and deploy Reus and sit Werner.

I'm playing but not particularly taking it serious. The pesky Russians with their dodgy kick off times make it hard for me while I'm at work.

Last 10 matches- 4 assists, 5 goals (hattrick v Leverkusen). In WC qualifiers- 9 games- 5 goals, 6 apples. Should be no 1 choice on penos.

        Whats wrong with those stats?

Last scored in April. Scored 8 goals all year in the league for a dominant Bayern team. Hasn't done the business for the national team for a while - only time I can see he scored since the start of 2017 was March 2018 - 1 goal v Spain (might have missed some off my list though tbf). Shifted to a wide role with Werner on board.

Tbh I didn't see the full match, so don't feel qualified to comment. I'd be surprised if he was dropped after one match with the form he's been in though!

So I have double Uruguay defence (Gimenez & Varela). For round 3 I'm going to sell one of them. The rest of my defense is Pique, Guerreiro & Akanji. Which trade do you like:
    (a) Gimenez out - R. Rodriguez in (already have Akanji)
    (b) Gimenez out - Miranda in
    (c) Gimenez out - Hegazi in
    (d) Varela out - Hegazi in
    (e) Other 4.5 or 5.5 defenders I haven't considered.

    Thoughts & thanks.

    Hi, sorry basic question:
Have Danilo in starting line up with subs: Inui - Dals - Cavani
If Inui doesnt play also, how many point that I get?
    A. 0 from Inui
    B. 2 from Dals
    Thanks 🙂

    Rumored Argentina lineup vs Nigeria:

    ---------------------Armani------------------------
    ---Mercado--Otamendi--Fazio---Rojo------
    -----------Mascherano------Biglia--------------
    ------Messi-------Banega--------Di Maria-----
    ---------------------Aguero-------------------------

So much better already. Not perfect. But much better than the crap he put out against Croatia.

Going to use my free transfer for R3 to dump Lingard for a 7.5 or less mid. I was thinking of Banega but wasn't sure if he would be advanced enough or immune to the obvious re-shuffle for the Nigeria game. This would be perfect though.

    Cavani | Jesus | Lukaku

    Trippier | Varela | Meunier | Sabaly | Dhalsgard
    Pickford | Uzohu

Have 3 belgian (vs engalnd in R3) and Cavani.

Lukaku vs Meunier captaincy using bookmaker odds, to try and give some perspective:

Assuming 60+ mins played and an assist chance of 20% each, which I think is fair.

    Lukaku:
    Appearance = 2
    To score: 52.36% x 4 = 2.09
    To score 2+: 16.78% x 4 = 0.66
    Assist: 20% x 3 = 0.6
    TOTAL: 5.36

Using spread bet odds where he's projected ~0.63 goals would achieve a result of 5.12

    Meunier
    Appearance = 2
    Clean Sheet = 56.18% x 4 = 2.25
    To score = 11.1% x 6 = 0.66
    To score 2+ = 0.79% x 6 = 0.05
    Assist: 20% x 3 = 0.6
    TOTAL: 5.56

I think the Eriksen to Coutinho twist proves how difficult it is to get more than 7 or 8 points in this game. If Lukaku gets a brace, that's only 3 more points and I don't think it's worth the stress. Unless it's all a bit of fun of course!
