World Cup Fantasy managers turn to Rodriguez and Inui in Group H finale

Japan and Colombia have been backed by Fantasy managers to get positive results from the Group H finale, and progress to the World Cup knockout stages.

James Rodriguez (£9.0m) is the most high-profile asset in action this afternoon with 11.5 percent picking him against Senegal. Despite registering two assists in Colombia’s convincing 3-0 win over Poland, the Real Madrid midfielder has not earned an increase in ownership since Gameround 2.

However, the most popular player in the Group H finale is still Carlos Sanchez (£4.5m), who is expected to return from his one-match suspension earned after being red-carded against Japan.

Colombia’s opponents Senegal are once again not particularly fashionable with Fantasy managers. No player has higher ownership levels than midfielder Salif Sane (£4.5m) who sits in just 5.9 percent of squads. Youssouf Sabaly (£4.0m) remains owned by 4.5 percent of managers.

In the other Group H fixture, Japan’s budget options have proved the most popular, although no player in the match is owned by more than a tenth of McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy managers.

Takashi Inui (£4.5m) will be the main focus after he scored and assisted in the 2-2 draw with Senegal. His ownership has just about doubled since Gameround 2, rising to 7.1 percent.

In the same number of squads is full-back Hiroki Sakai (£4.0m). A sure starter, he is yet to get a Fantasy return in Russia but registered three assists in qualifying.

Already eliminated Poland have been almost completely deserted by Fantasy managers. Robert Lewandowski (£9.5m) remains their most popular player but has lost three percent ownership since Gameround 2.

When was the last time England played against a competitive good first choice team in the World Cup or even a qualifier?

        Not really a strong question.

With all the hype starting to build about England in this WC i was just trying to think when was the last time they played a decent team to gauge how good they really might be.

Well we haven't played a competitive match against a good team because we've been woeful in tournaments. You generally play weak sides if you get knocked out early.

One game at a time. You never know. If Mexico spring a huge upset suddenly finishing group winners is way better than facing a potential Spain or Croatia in the semis.

Also, England haven't won a knockout game in 12 years. Forget bleeding QFs, they need to get past the R16 first.

They should handle Japan or Colombia easily enough, though.

I don’t think either of those two can beat Belgium or England.

    A)
    Olsen, Subasic
    Miranda, Meunier, Carvajal, Maguire, Granvist
    Isco, Modric, Coutinho, Claesson, Bentancur
    Costa, Lukaku, Kane

    B)
    Olsen, Schmeichel
    Granvist, Miranda, Carvajal, Akanji, Maguire
    Eriksen, Lingard, Modric, Claessen, Inui
    Neymar, Costa, Ronaldo

That is a nasty half of the draw though.

I’d take my chances with Sweden or Switzerland and then possibly Spain.

No way I would want any part of Brazil in the quarters.

From this point template will be stronger than before and I don't know how about you, but I'm going all out for differentials. It's the only way to catch ML leaders now, group stage went a bit worse than expected.

I'm not speaking about Japan, Denmark or Russian players. We should pick best teams but different players and go all in.

    Hazard over Kaku
    DSilva over Costa
    Iniesta over Isco
    Sterling over Kane
    Paulinho over Couts
Suarez, Giroud, Mandzukic - all great differential picks also
And in defence - fill it up with pen takers (Granny, RRod, Ramos(?)) and assist potential (Trippier, Carvahal, etc.)

What are your thoughts, fellow chasers?
