Set-pieces continue to dominate the World Cup Fantasy with many of the top performers finding the net from penalties, corners and free-kicks.

So we’ve collated all the data available to us so Members can assess which nations are the best to invest in for the knockout stages of the World Cup.

It would appear that Uruguay, Spain, Brazil and England are the teams worth looking at, while Croatia look susceptible to set-pieces defensively.

READ NEXT: Our transfer tips and stats for the World Cup Fantasy knockout stages

Our research includes each team’s penalty takers based on who has been handed the responsibility at the tournament itself, in qualifying and in friendlies too.

We’ve listed how many of each type of set-piece each player has taken, but if there is no number next to their name it’s because they took at least one in qualifying and/or warm-up games but are yet to take one at the World Cup itself.

We’ve also calculated which teams concede the most fouls and attempts from set-plays too to help you pick the best match-up from the fixtures.

To clarify, the ‘Attempts from set plays’ section combines those who have shot from direct free-kicks or those who have latched onto the end of a corner.

The deadline for Gameround 4 is at 15:00 BST on Saturday June 30, so make sure you sort your team in time.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

Surely, this must be the best round to play the maximum captain chip if you haven't used it already?

Semi finals for me. Last 16 you have 4 chances to hit the jackpot.

Hmm, good point, hadn't thought about that.
But on the other hand, the semi-finals are less likely to end with many goals as the teams are better. Germany - Brazil being an anomaly.
        Tough call!

    Latest draft thoughts?

Going with strategy of BB this round but no WC, 1.9 ITB

    Muslera - Olssen/Sommer

    Carvajal - Strinic - Trippier - Miranda - Granqvist

    Modric - Coutinho - Isco - Inui - Quintero

    Costa - Lukaku - Greizmann

Should I upgrade somewhere or save cash for next round? Thoughts?

Griezmann has been annoying to own, playing too deep - but he’s on pens.
But France will score, so I’m gambling on Mbappe, seems to play further forward.

yeah plus Griez is the enabler so also assist pts, Mbappe worried about his minutes plus only 19, Griez been there before went on a tear during Euros and yeah also on pens, wondering if I should switch to Kane or Neymar

I’m Kane, think they’ve got a clear run to the semis with JRod probably out, so that’s 3 games - & Kane’s last goal he scored without even having to bother shooting, when your luck’s in.....

yeah figured with the cash saved could upgrade to him later, just don't fancy him more against Colombia then I do Griez vs Argies plus gives me day 1 cap. Then again need to focus my transfers on replacing the ones that go out

Hasn't been much involved in the scoring against poor opposition, look at his stats? does it warrant the price difference? If Inui goes out which most likely he will I'm fine with it but I fancy him to maybe get a goal or assist

    3. Louis_Sans_Balls
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 17 days ago

      yeah, tough one
Swiss have half there back line out that could be the difference on the other hand they have Shaq and he could be the difference if he shows up
Swiss have yet to keep a clean sheet despite being very defensive, the Swedes have 2. The Swedes counter which works against teams who go forward, the Swiss will not be going forward much
If it wasn't for the suspensions, one of them is their captain I would tip it to Swiss so think the Swedes might nick it in the end possible in penalties.
Now the real question is who to choose at GK, Olsen or Sommer?

      1. Olsen, thanks

The Argentinian manager Jorge Sampaoli seems to have been ousted in a coup by the players.Do you think that Argentina can turn it around with player power or are they doomed to failure?

I can not remember too many teams if any that done well with effectively no manager.

anyone playing the telegraph game... you can make unlimited transfers up until 2pm tomorrow, then after that there is 20 transfers during the knockout stage, however can you confirm like previous rounds whereby you keep the points of the player you are transferring out and get the points of the player transferring in..

Don't see why that would change.

In one team, I will have XI French, in another, I will have XI Argies.

I might mix them up in another team.

Of course, all the goals will then be scored by subs in extra time

      🙂

I have Ramos and Isco at the moment and no Russians. I’m just not sure with what we’ve seen so far from Spain and with the managerial issues if we will be looking back saying the signs were there for them to fail as per Germany.

WC gone, plan to BB R16 and MC quarter final.

    Kane - Hazard - Costa
    Coutinho - Modric - Isco - Quintero - Bentacur
    Trippier - Carvajal - Granqvist - Lovren - Maguire
    Courtois - Pickford
    0.1m ITB

Downsides: no captain on day 1.
There are 4 English as well but I think it's worth.
