Set-pieces continue to dominate the World Cup Fantasy with many of the top performers finding the net from penalties, corners and free-kicks.

So we’ve collated all the data available to us so Members can assess which nations are the best to invest in for the knockout stages of the World Cup.

It would appear that Uruguay, Spain, Brazil and England are the teams worth looking at, while Croatia look susceptible to set-pieces defensively.

READ NEXT: Our transfer tips and stats for the World Cup Fantasy knockout stages

Our research includes each team’s penalty takers based on who has been handed the responsibility at the tournament itself, in qualifying and in friendlies too.

We’ve listed how many of each type of set-piece each player has taken, but if there is no number next to their name it’s because they took at least one in qualifying and/or warm-up games but are yet to take one at the World Cup itself.

We’ve also calculated which teams concede the most fouls and attempts from set-plays too to help you pick the best match-up from the fixtures.

To clarify, the ‘Attempts from set plays’ section combines those who have shot from direct free-kicks or those who have latched onto the end of a corner.

The deadline for Gameround 4 is at 15:00 BST on Saturday June 30, so make sure you sort your team in time.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

    thoughts on this R16 team?

    Pickford | 4.0
    Meunier | Miranda | Carvajal | Lovren | Akanji
    Coutinho | Modric | Isco | Zuber | Quintero
    Kane | Lukaku | Mbappe

    bank: 0.3

    Any obvious changes you’d suggest?
    thanks!

Two likely quarter finals: Spain vs Croatia & Brazil vs Belgium.

If you don't have your WC, is it better to take a risk. e.g. 3 Spain, 1 Croatia? Or is to better to go safe, 2 Spain, 2 Croatia?

Where possible I’m going all in on the team I think will win. Definitely avoiding defenders from team that will clash in QFs

Uruguay back line has me confused. Currently on Varela, but is he nailed? Was he just getting a rest v. Russia?
Is Gimenez injured? Laxalt, Caceres, Coates, and of course Godin playing. Anyone know who first four are?

Giminez back. Varela should be if they go 4 at the back. Winning dull 1-0 games is a good way to win a tournament.

      1. suddenorgan
        • 15 Years
        8 years, 17 days ago

they played 4 at the back against Russia, think there was just initially confusion because Laxalt can play left midfield and Caceres can play full back/centre back, so wrongly concluded it was a 3-5-2

I have WC, BB and MC all in tact. Plan is to BB for this R16, probably WC before quarters depending on outcomes of course. I fancy SWE to beat SUI!

    Costa Kane Lukaku
    Isco Lingard Quintero Coutinho Claesson

    Thinking of this:-

    Alisson - Armani
    Carvajal - Trippier - Meunier - Hernandez - Akanji
    Isco - Modric - Casemiro - Coutinho - Quintero
    Ronaldo - Silva - Mertens

Armani/ Hernandez is 1 transfer and Quintero/ Trippier the second. Silva and Mertens the differentials as everybody will probably go for Costa and Lukaku/Hazard. Plus will be taking a hit to drop Ronaldo + Modric for the quarters.

Rate my last 16 Team please guys.

    Subasic
    Ramos Godin Granqvist
    Modric Isco Coutinho Claeeson
    Neymar[3] Costa[2] Greizman(1)

    (Nakamura, R.Rodriguez, Quintero[4], Mojica)

I think i have 6 penalty takers with Ramos, Granqvist, R.Rodriguez, Modric, Neymar and Greizman.

    Hows it look?

Oh yes i can lol. Hazard creates a captaincy headache with having Neymar and Coutinho already. I feel Belgium goals can come from a wider array of players.. and i also feel Belgium will be knocked out in the quarters by Brazil. Just my gut feeling, sorry.

RMT please. gambling on Ronaldo but its just a feeling and wana stick with him. No Kane is a headache though but i think he will score 1 at most against COL.

    Subasic / Alisson
    Alderweireld / Carvajal/ Tagliafico/ Granqvist(C4)/ Trippier
    Modric/ Coutinho/ Lingard/ Claesson/C.Sanchez(COL)
    Ronaldo(C1)/ Lukaku(C3)/ Costa(C2)

    Afternoon,

Just had a quick mix up of my team, would love some feedback!
I'll be BB hence the 2 keepers from he same match. Also the game I think is most likely to be 0-0.

    Sommer - Olsen
    Godin - Trippier - Vrsaljko - Meunier - Guerreiro
    Isco - Modric - Coutinho - Claesson - Inui
    Kane - Kaku - Mbappe

Also have WC in my pocket for the next round.

    Much appreciated!

    What do you prefer?

    A. Costa + Ramos
    B. Griezmann + Carvajal

Leaning towards A since Costa is good value vs Russia and Ramos is penalty taker. On the other hand Griezmann is a good captain option on first day and Carvajal has a good assist potential. Thoughts?

Potentially a little bit template in places but thoughts on this.

Currently top on ML and trying to stay there.

    Kane / Lukaku / Costa
    Shaqiri / Coutinho / Modric / Gazinski / Busq
    Meunier / TSilva / Lovren / Carvajal / Granquist
    Sommer / Schmeichel

    Thoughts ?

Yeah I get that. But he's 2 mil more thn Busquets and has only scored 3 points more. Which is why I put him in.

I'd rather have one Spanish mid + Shaq than Isco and no Shaq as I can't fit both.

Had Ronaldo in place of Kane for so long but Uruguay held well in their 3 group games

Biscuits is terrible in FPL stay away! Go Quintero instead.

Rest of the team is pretty decent. I personally don't like Costa, but if you do, fine.

Cheers. I'll have a play and see how it balances out with Isco/Quint

Can you change captains within a gameweek if bench boost is active?
