Just four teams remain at the 2018 World Cup after the culmination of the quarter-finals on Saturday evening.

Fantasy managers now only have players from France, Belgium, England and Croatia to choose from, with Uruguay, Brazil, Sweden and Russia assets surplus to requirements.

Those who are playing the McDonald’s FIFA World Cup game have five free transfers with which to shake up their squads, although Fantasy iTeam managers will have to make the most of their three allotted transactions (a fourth can be purchased with credits) if they are to field 11 playing assets at the semi-final stage.

Up to six players per country can be selected in our Fantasy squads at this point.

After their goals for Belgium and France in the two countries’ respective quarter-finals, Kevin De Bruyne (£9.8m) and Raphael Varane (£6.0m) are attracting the most investment in the McDonald’s FIFA game at this early stage.

With the likes of Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, Diego Godin and Andreas Granqvist to jettison from our teams, where should the money be reinvested? Our team-by-team analysis of Opta’s World Cup data, which is updated and available to Fantasy Football Scout members immediately after the end of each match, gives us strong clues as to which players’ underlying statistics could translate into Fantasy points and which assets are best avoided.

World Cup Data

We’re delighted to offer World Cup data as an early addition to our regular season offering to help those playing Fantasy games over the summer.

We’ve secured Opta data, not only for the tournament itself, which begins on June 14 but also from the Qualifying Rounds for Europe and South America and for international friendlies involving the participating nations. This includes all the matches played right up to the tournament kick-off.

Just to stress, this World Cup offering comes packaged with the regular Fantasy Football Scout membership.

Check out this new trailer previewing the World Cup content below…

I like it. Just needs confirmation on Mkhi's nailed on-ness and whether TAA, Firmino, etc...are likely to get an extended break.

Like it, but not sure it is great for early fixtures with Arsenal players.

KdB may well be rested for the first few games due to his WC exploits

Really like Azpi, had him a lot last year, but they can be unconvincing at the back sometimes. I also have Tomkins and Daniels currently tbh, and Pickford as my Everton DEF over Coleman.

To be fair, talking through it it’s not bad. If anything would maybe try to get Mendy or Robertson, possibly over Azpi, due to fixtures and more attacking threat

I see the Mendy/Robertson appeal. Just need assurances about gametime. Plus Mendy and Pickford could get an extended rest.

If I have Salah is it worth getting Firmino too? Or downgrade him to a cheaper option and upgrade Daniels, Costa, sigurdsson etc

No way Salah is worth it atleast at start when looking at how he was not world class at world cup. Firmino and a liv defender are go to options

Maybe... but seems easier to start with him and if he starts underperforming then offload than to scramble to get him in if he starts firing and I don’t have him but 50% of all players do

I wouldn't spend 9.5m on Firmino when I know I'll always captain his teammate. Perhaps Vardy is a better option.

Rotation is inevitable there. Morays has had a decent recovery and Giroud, even if he's the striker of choice will come of early and share the starting spot with Morata/Batman.

Milipen has crept into my team. The fixtures are good and he was collecting goals from headed corners, direct free kicks and a threat with shots outside the box at the back end of last season. Always wary of players coming into the PL for the first time, need to watch them first.

Are they built to cope or will they struggle?

To add to that, I know they are an ambitious club with money to spend but we've seen that before with QPR and it doesn't always work out.

Is the team good enough or are they a Championship side who may get a shock?

          Coleman's a luxury.

Everton will be playing a 4.5m centreback unless they sign someone else...just don't know which one yet...that's 1m saving

I'd personally drop Begovic for a 4.0 and stick with Fabianski as the only playing keeper...there's another 0.5m. He'll get a lot of save points in the bad opening fixtures even if CSs are thin on the ground.

Alternatively, use the 1m Coleman saving, get DDG or Ederson plus a 4.0

    KEEPER, fodder
    Trippier, Maguire, Moniuer, DEFENDER
    Rakitic, Sterling, Hazard
    Lukaku, Kane, Giroud

I have two transfers left, will only be able to field 10 given Moniuer's double yellow. Who do you reckon to fill last spots?

Current plan is Courtouis and Varane, but Pickford or Young is also options as i am chasing in ML

Tripling up on any team is unadvisable from the start.

If it's Man City or Liverpool, OK, fair enough...but not Everton!

I'm personally building a team based on "which 3 big hitters could cause irrepairable rank damage at the start of the season"...and the answer I've come to is Salah, Aguero and Auba (after GW3)...plus DDG in all likelihood.

...then build the rest of the team around that
