Having won the Premier League in 2016/17, Chelsea’s performance statistics for their fifth-placed finish last season were unsurprisingly inferior to their title-winning campaign.

The Blues scored 23 fewer goals than they managed in the previous season and conceded five more.

Several of Antonio Conte’s players did, nevertheless, play a prominent part in many Fantasy managers’ 2017/18 campaign.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso were the two highest-scoring defenders in Fantasy Premier League, with Chelsea keeping as many clean sheets (16) as they did in their championship-winning season.

Eden Hazard, without hitting the heights of the previous campaign, and Alvaro Morata both recorded double-digit goal tallies, meanwhile.

Uncertainty over Conte’s future as Chelsea manager continues to dog the club and indeed Fantasy managers’ abilities to assess the Blues’ squad for the coming season, but in Azpilicueta, Alonso and Hazard at least the west London club possess three players who remain at the forefront of our thoughts.

Fantasy Football Scout members can read on to see our full analysis of the five-times Premier League champions.

Anyone think Marcos Alonso will play a winger in the first matches instead of a wingback due to the midfield situation (unless of course Madrid come knocking but I doubt even Chelsea would sell).

      Pay .5 and get DDG.

Jones has played the most amount of games (%) when fit, and United are reportedly after another CB. Perhaps that would be the partnership.

France will likely remain unchanged. Mbappe missed training due to a slight back discomfort (most likely a precaution) but L'Equipe thinks he'll start.

Fellaini starts again for Belgium. The only doubt is Meunier's replacement. The Belgian press, such as HLN, thinks Carrasco may not play due to the potential threat of Mbappe. Instead, it may be T Hazard or Vermaelen. I'd just stay away from this if you can't see the lineup.

      England will be unchanged.

Vrsaljko is a strong doubt (not yet completely ruled out). Lovren and Subasic missed training today, but it is thought to be minor - they should re-join the group tomorrow.

No point getting him for any more tha 4.5 at the start of the season, but I'd expect him to be 6.0-6.5. More likely 6.0 I think. Shame we get so much time to asses if he's worth it for when his fixtures improve; would have been a nice differential from GW1

    Anyone still playing McD's FWC?

Any viable strategy suggestions for the Semi's/Final/3rd place playoff? Still wise to load up on block defences or just pick players you like?

Think clean sheets too hard to call for a block defence. Both semis look pretty tight, probably low scoring. Think having a spread of options across the 2 semis is key so you can swap out the poor performers from the first one. So few options a lot of teams will be very similar. If you’re chasing go differential heavy and hope the goals fall to unlikely candidates!

Is the play off definitely included in the game? Seems a bit odd that we get given another five transfers for the final round when it would just be same four teams as the semi’s and the tab at the top just says ‘final’?

I agree with Berbs. I also think it will be Salah.

That would actually be insane seeing Fabinho´s record but I fear Salah will be first choice, until he misses.

Can’t see him rotating left back much. Right back maybe

      Nailed pool players ....

      Vvd. Robertson. Fabinho. Salah. Firmino.

Mane and keita pretty much nailed too. Though Henderson performances and expected arrival of a #10 cast a little doubt

Who knows if he is regular. Fully expect united to buy a centre back and can see Limdelof getting more game time.

    Leno - 4.0
    Trent - Alonso - Coleman - Tomkins - Boly

    Tosun - Aubameyang - Zaha

Selecting players from top 6 clubs is a tried and true strategy.

With all of this time to prepare for GW1, I think we should be aiming to have 7 players minimum from the top teams. Putting too much faith into Daniels, Zaha, Tomkins, etc is not viable for more than a few weeks.

Zaha and Tomkins are gold! Daniels is the brown stuff. Palace could overtake Arsenal this year 😉

With torreira, leno, sokratis (+possibly nzonzi) and new manager I think arsenal have real chance to finish top3

Can't see it given the pure quality in the top three teams ( United excluded 😀 ), but willing to reserve judgement for now 🙂

It's not just about them being a top 6 team though. There would be no point having 7 players from top 6 teams who don't get you any points. So then we're just saying you should get players who you think will get lots of points and that of course is common sense.

The likelihood of Chelsea or Spurs scoring 3 goals is much higher than Southampton, West Ham, Everton, etc. They also routinely keep more clean sheets.

This is what I'm saying though. It only matters if you choose the big hitters. There would be no point in me bringing in the likes of Kante just to hit my top club quota.

We would if it was possible
      They are expenaive
Only way to get most top6 players is to have them in defence

Mane, Firmino, Lacazzette, Eriksen, Sane, Fabregas as attackers.

        Ederson, Alonso, Robertson, Laporte, Davies.

Very easy to have 7-8 of those, you just have to be willing to spend more in the back.

        It's pretty easy without Salah

        Davies Mendy Robertson 5.5(Arse)
        Silva Ramsey Mkhi
        Aguero Laca Firmino

        5.5 4.5 4.5

I did that in seconds, but you could play around with it to find something better

I think you’re right ... however the possibility of a cash prize makes the world of difference.... if 50 teams pay 20 quid each that provides quite a prize fund thats actually possible to win ...unlike the main game
