Crystal Palace look set to be a source of effective budget options in the early part of the 2018/19 campaign.

The Eagles favourable fixtures in the first nine Gameweeks, combined with some impressive underlying numbers towards the end of last season, mean there are viable options to consider in defence, midfield and attack.

Under Roy Hodgson, Palace made improvements in more than 20 key areas last time out compared to 2016/17, and that is expected to continue into the new campaign.

That data is available to Fantasy Football Scout members to look at in the Members’ Area, and they can also read our in-depth analysis of it in the article below.

If you have any ideas how to improve this team please let me know.

    Fabianski
    Alonso Bailly Robertson
    Sane Salah Eriksen Silva
    Zaha Firmino Arnautovic

    Subs:
    Begovic, Bednarek, Quaner, Shelotto

No matter what the analysts say, the attack is too weak from the off. Balance should be the top priority for GW 1.

My issue isn't necessarily with the attack, it's the bench - it's simply non-existent. Downgrade somewhere to improve the bench.

Unless Bailly emerges as nailed in preseason, I’d opt for a more nailed option. Perhaps use the funds from that to strengthen your bench. One or both of Zaha/Arnie will disappoint in the opening 8 weeks.

Little surprised Im not seeing more Bavies picks even just for the first few GWs.
Will likely be nailed on with Rose returning late.

Nailed for how long? Also, he'll likely be playing for a depleted side. Better value for money elsewhere for sure.

Nailed probably for first 2/3 GWs easily until Rose returns.
Still think he's good for those fixtures

Surprising considering how resistant people were to the idea that Rose could be chosen to play any part of the season whilst Davies was there last year, multiple times. 😆

Davies was supposedly worth 6.0+ easily last season, yet as you say nobody's jumping on him this time. I guess player price can genuinely strongly influence people's beliefs. That's my main explanation for it anyway.

Personally not planning to get him for the rotation reason. I don't tend to plan future transfers when I'm currently on unlimited transfers. I started last season with Bavies, but sold him early as Rose was first "coming back to fitness". I was appalled at the fact that Davies continued to haul regardless, before Rose was injured again 😆 I still continued to ignore him at 5.5, so it would be weird to get him at 6.0, unless I was sure he would start at least 3 in a row (I'm not), and I was happy to spend a transfer on him or let him be autosubbed (I'm not, really, either).

      Make sense?

I picked them because I value all of them at higher prices. I would’ve paid 5.0 for all of the 4.5 options and I would’ve expected 5.5 for both of the 5.0 options. Absolute steals

Balanced to me is 2 each high priced D, mids and forwards. How would you ever get in another forward priced 10 or up in without dropping Mo or Auba? You have the D and mids but if your goal is balanced the forwards are lacking imo.

Oh sorry I read it as matching his points or "catch" or something. I would definitely match him. Imagine you were 1 point behind now, and had the option of captaining Kane along with your Rival or taking 5 points. I don't know if that helps, but for me I think I'd want 6 or 7 points to give my self some proper distance between us.

France’s Olivier Giroud has had 13 shots in the 2018 World Cup, but none have been on target. Since 1966, no player has had more attempts in a single tournament without getting one on target.

The shots he takes on though: some of them his he's moving away from goal with his head nearly touching the ground! Other players might not even get to the ball, might fail to control it or shoot and miss by miles, but Giroud has a habbit of peppering the goal area with shots from positions he has no right to. If one of them is on target, it'll be hard to save.

I may have oversold him there. I'm glad Arsenal sold him on the whole, but you're not giving him enough credit 🙂

Cant see any safe pick for a city attacker besides from KDB but at the start of the season I think Dilva is a good shout.

do you think pogba will be there to start the season?
seems great value at 8 with fred and matic assuring defensive duties

We should have Utd teamsheet just before the GW1 deadline hopefully... Pogba could be great. Lingard could also, but Martial has highest upside of them all albeit he isn’t nailed

        mourinho hates martial
even if he scores mou will bench him again next week when others have returned

I think he’s a good punt for GW1-4, could easily notch 2 or 3 goals and a massive casual bandwagon/price rise, he’s got a lot going for him now 22 and into his third season in England.

Mourinho did similar with KDB, Kaku & Salah earlier in their careers so he has form for it, but Martial’s quality is undeniable, he’s in the same bracket as those three for sheer ability.

It’s a relationship very low risk punt too, the teamsheets are key... if Martial isn’t starting then he can be quickly swapped to anyone else in that nice price bracket - Lingard, Siggy, Ramsey, Mkhi, Milivojevic, Theo etc.

    1st draft any Good?

    Courtois Fabianski
    Coleman Otamendi Robertson Daniels Wan-Bissaka
    Walcott Eriksen Pogba Mkhi Neves
    Firmino Aguero Zaha

First Courtois draft I've seen, and for good reason 😀

Otherwise it looks fun, I like it. I'd worry about Pogba starting GW1 especially.

Lots of quality in that front 7, Theo & Pogba are high on my watchlist... Pogba particularly, if only he had been 7.5, but he could easily end up a 9.5 next year if he kicks on again... same with Mkhi, and Theo has never been this cheap, it’s not that long ago he was 9.0 as well.

One thought though, in my opinion your team would be improved by going Ederson-Alonso rather than Courtois-Otamendi... and I’m a VVD fan rather than Robertson as I think Robertson will lose a few games to Moreno... would also prefer Cedric to Charlie Daniels... I think Daniels is fools gold!

Yeh the Ederson Alonso makes, Love Robertson and Cedric and Daniels was 50/50 for me

IMO there is higher value in Cedric due to expected clean sheets

I have no idea whether I should twist from Courtois (3) to Subasic. Any opinions?

For context - 10 point lead over rival, he's twisted from Courtois to Pickford, and has no Croatia defence.

Wow, the name of my team was deemed offensive because i included Fuchs' name. I used Fuchs' name last season too and i didn't have any problems.

Why did i come back to this game after three and a half months of absence?

343 formation... Bailly can become whatever utd defender looks nailed, which hopefully turns out to be Shaw or Lindelof!

    Pickford........................................... (Stekelengurg)
    Bailly Lovren Daniels....................... (Cedric, Tomkins)
    Salah(C) Sanchez Silva Deulofeu... (Gunnarsson)
    Aguero Zaha Tosun

Solid... would you not like an extra Liverpool attacker though? Maybe KDB/Mané instead of Alexis/Silva?

I dont expect KDB or Sterling to start the season so I think Silva is nailed on early doors.

Same with Lukaku Rashford Lingard wont start the season so Sanchez will play through the middle and is on pens frees etc ....

but yes Firmino was in a lot of drafts... but him AND Salah is costing me elswhere.

Also Sanchez acts like a place holder for KDB
