Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Copy of another post from a non RMT topic. Apologies and cheers for the heads up, Rainy.

    Evening.

    Foster, Fab
    Tomkins, Wan-Bissaka, Doherty, Mendy, Robertson
    Salah, Sanchez, Richarlison, Stephens, Jota
    Aguero, Arnautovic, King

    Points I'm unsure of:
    - Foster? Or bring in another 4.5m?
    - Double CPL defence?
    - Sanchez?
    - King?

    Any advice appreciated!

I had double CPL defence with them two my first draft, both seem good value but it just felt wrong having two palace defenders so I got rid

Don’t see an issue with Foster, not sure why they would of bought him if they don’t plan on replacing Gomes

Sanchez is great even just as a value holder to change to Hazard GW3 if he doesn’t start well.

King gold but feel Bournemouth will struggle despite preseason form

    Hi lads

Long time lurker - finding this season the hardest in the past 10 to pick a team though, so just wondering your thoughts on my top heavy bunch...

    Patricio
    Daniels Cedric Tomkins
    Salah Richarlison Hughes Sanchez
    Aguero Zaha Aubameyang

    (Foster Cairney Peltier Yedlin)

Sanchez to Hazard the plan when he’s back.

I know the defence is weak but I’ve gone with sure starters - everyone scores against everyone in the EPL these days.

Anyway would appreciate a RMT, cheers lads

I have been considering Auba to Laca and spending the cash on upgrading defence.

Laca was such a letdown last season it worries me ...

Daniels is nailed for the first three whilst their new signing has a three match ban.

Cedric might not play gw1, Daniels isn't nailed (signed a lb), BOU only kept 6 cs last year but could be good.

By the way, I like a lot this RMT team. Similar to mine. I opted for a premium GK (De Gea) and downgraded Jota to Costa, and chose Eriksen instead of Mahrez.

But yes, seems the same reasoning. Like it a lot.

    Cheers

Would appreciate and return any help for my team...

struggling as I don't want to change my front 7 but I feel my defence is a bit light?
    Patricio - 4.0
    Mendy - 5.0 - 4.5 - WB - Peltier
    Salah - Mane - BSilva - Richarlison
    Aguero - Lacazette - King

Lacazete might be only premium sub. Give yourself some time to asses his ability to play on starting eleven.
5 def could be one of Burney's guys.
Currently on Patricio and 4 GKs. How risky do you think is that? I'd say it's reasonable choice.

Lacazette is nailed imo, started all pre season games but 1 and came on that game and got a goal/assist (can't remember).
thanks for Burnley suggestion, any idea which is rotation free?
Patricio is safe from rotation and Hamer is likely to be first choice at Huds, tho just playing Patricio every week.

Hamer starter all preaseson games. If he remains taht sport, him and Patricio would be terrific value for 8.5.
Any of last season startera wam nailed, but Burnely adres Gibson into that mix. Ward may list some minutes to Long as well. Personally, I had Mee for a King time inne my drafts. He seems focal point od that defence and offerial threat.

the ce insight on your picks. Been a couple of years since I've done fantasy but Here's my team . Man Utds poor pre season, Chelsea's community shield problems, Spurs lack of squad due to world cup have gone mainly for Man City and Liverpool players. Went for a top heavy team, spending minimum on defenders and prioritising funds on attack by midfield.

    GK- Patricio, Hamer
Think Patricio is a cracking buy for Wolves and brings a wealth of experience and international pedigree. As a Fulham fan, I saw wolves in action a lot last season and it's fair to say damn they have some talent available. Expecting them to do very well this season given the players and funds at their disposal. Mid table at least should be their expectation. Hamer is a cheap back home probably won't call upon at all.

Def- Targett, Daniels, Doherty, Wan-Bissaka, Peltier
As stated above, defence was not a priority for me. Going for a budgeted version so not expecting a lot of points here except picking up appearance points and will be deploying a three man defence most of the season. Doherty was straight in for me, with wolves playing wing backs hoping he can pick up a few attacking bonuses this season. Daniels was tricky, expecting Bournemouth to struggle again this season but he is a regular and may crop up with a few more wonder goals or assists with his wand of a left foot. Wan-Bissaka and Peltier are there as regular starters. Targett is in on a whim. I may get bashed for his inclusion but he was quality for us on loan last season (gutted we didn't sign him permanently) and has a good crossing ability. With Soares not playing any pre season so far it may be possible that the Saints may deploy him as a right wing back. Will chop and change these starters depending on fixtures.

Midfield-Salah, Mahrez, Mane, Hudson-Odio, Bernando Silva
The names speak for themselves and am hoping they will chop in with a fair few goals. I do not expect Salah to replicate his 31 PL goal tally or whatever it was last season but he will play an integral role for Liverpool that's for sure. Mane is the less heralded off Pools front three but keeps improving season on season so hoping he can improve on last year's points tally. Man city's rotation policy was a right pain in the behind last season but with the world cup players not back yet, it makes things slightly easier for the first few weeks at least. Bernando Silva started to impress me towards the back end of last season and it's great to see continue that into pre season with some fine form. It will be interesting to see how Mahrez is used this season, but he looks to have settled in quickly. Hudson Odoi is a risk but has great pace and trickery and is full of confidence. With Willians transfer rumours, Hazard not back yet. He could potentially start as a left singer of Chelsea's front three. Looked good in the community shield so worth a cheap punt so I can accommodate bigger names.

    Attack-Lacazette, Aguero, Sturridge
This was tricky. Arsenal's line up isn't nailed so Lacazette isn't nailed. But Emery has said that Auba and Lacazette can play together so hoping he is true to his word and lets them prove it. To be fair, he has used the players together a few times in pre season to good effect with some moments where they were looking like they were really gelling. What with Lacazette being left out of the French WC squad, he has a point to prove so hoping for a bit season from him. Aguero is a goal machine, and what with Man City's attacking play expecting another 20+ goal haul making his inclusion a must. Ha Sturridge, if you would have said he would be anywhere near the Liverpool or my fantasy squad I would have call a psychiatrist for you. But here we are, and after a fine pre season looking close to the sturridge of a few years ago in the SAS partnership he could ply aa big role this season. Fitness is still a concern but with Firmino late back from the world cup and not yet ready for inclusion, expecting Sturridge to be leading the line for the first couple of weeks anyway (barring injuries lol) and will monitor the situation closely

True was not aware of that, but dunno if 1 pre season game will be enough for the first game. He has only been back two weeks. I suppose it depends on what sort of shape he has returned in. Klopp may want to ease him rather than see him pick up an injury from returning too soo. Will see what the gossip is closer to kick off and make a late judgement call

As a first time player of the game, would anyone care to tell me if I am heading in the right direction or barking up the wrong tree with this lot please? It's worth a laugh if nothing else.
    Foster/Fab - Hamer
    Robertson - Coleman - Shaw/TAA - Tompkins - Bennett/AWB
    Mahrez - Bilva - Moura/Miki - Richarlison - Hughes
    Auba - Aguero - Firmino
Would aim to play 3 up front most weeks

Question would be, other than the obvious one.
Is Richarlison a better 6.5 than one of Pedro/Fab/Jota/Madison (or Doucoure + 0.5), or is it even worth downgrading to a 5.5 like Fraser or Albrighton in anticipation of Mahrez -> KdB in due course.
I had Mo from day 1 in the Sky league last year, and it paid off, but he was a differential back then.
    Many thanks.

I think you're on the right track. Personally, I think the point return from Salah in midfield will be better than Aguerro as a forward (1 more point per goal) but there are many ways to skin a cat, and this team looks good

Thanks for that. I'm still not sure which way I'll end up going, but having Aguero & Mahrez/KdB looked better to me than Mo & Arnie/Wilf or Mitrovic.

On this at the moment, would love some thoughts:

    Patricio (Stekelenburg)
    Mendy Luiz TAA Wan-Bissaka (Peltier)
Salah De Bruyne Jota (Stephens, Hudson-Odoi)
    Aguero Aubameyang King

Think the defense could be great if Luiz and TAA are nailed. Would love some thoughts on whether or not Jota+King are good picks

That’s really good ! I would be tempted to upgrade Luiz to Robertson/VVD for naildness and get a 4.5 like Boly/Kabasele. Also a nailed 4.5 mid like billing maybe making room for one of the very good 5m options. Appreciate the something different

I wouldn't recommend Foden - There's so much talent there I struggle to see him getting any time. Hudson-Odoi is the other... so basically what KunTheMan said 😉

A very good team otherwise, I think it's ready for gw 1 barring any late changes to teams / form 🙂

Is that because of Arsenal's not favourable early fixtures? Would it be an option to change Aguero to Auba after GW2?

    Aguero - Firmino - Arnautovic

Very similar to one of my drafts, I'd see if you can get Robertson in and drop one of Mane or Firmino. Also looks like a lot of people are getting rid of Cedric, maybe get Tomkins or Schlupp but you'll notice on RMT I'm already worried about double Palace in my team so not sure why I'm recommending you do the same. 😀

Niemi, you thought Mahrez looked “dangerous” in yesterday’s game? I thought he and Luiz were the two worst looking players out there.

I thought Mahrez was really good, just lacked the end product. Some good moves and some great runs, he seemed rusty. Luiz, Jorginho, Bravo by far the worst ones on the pitch

I’m not so sure Guardiolla was very impressed judging by his reaction every time he lost possession was out of position defensively. :).

Help guys...need to get a head start ...what do you think on this lot?

    Patricio Hamer
    Mendy Robbo W-B Tark Lascelles
    Salah Mane Richarl Bilva Masuaku
    Arny Aguero King

Seems balanced to me...but I feel I'm overlooking something patently obvious...

    Hi guys

What best way to go with forwards

    A) Aubameyang Zaha/Arnie Mitrovic
    B) Lacazette Firmino Reid
    C) Aubameyang Aguero 4.5

Option c will mean downgrade on Mendy to 4 mil defenders

  26. william prunier

    Critique required please chaps

    Ddg
    Pva - Mendy - Coleman - Robertson
    Salah - Richy - Mane
    King - Arnie - Kun
    4.0, Neves, Stephens, WB. 0.ITB

Ddg, safest way into Utd back line till Wildcard. And a Utd def won't get attacking returns.
Pva & Coleman, both fun picks, will bomb forward, granted can't expect many clean sheets.
Mane, just fancy they'll score goals and he's nailed unlike any City mid.
Richy & King, both gambles but have great 'attacking' fixtures.
The bench, all seem viable starters if rotation bites!

    Hit me....

    1. EgyptianKing
      • 7 Years
      7 years, 4 months ago

I think it is a solid team.

However, to be honest, PVA for me does not justify the 1m premium over Tomkins, and at 5.5m I prefer Luiz to Coleman. That would allow you to have United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool nailed defenders, plus 1m in the bank.

      Cheers

De Gea out - Patrício in (defence is Tomkins; Robbo; Mendy in a 3-5-2)
Costa out - Jota in (other mids are Salah; Mane; Eriksen; Richarlison)

    What do you think?

There's a HT on the choices, but the options are very limited, hence why I'm not sure about having 2 of them! Chalobah is my pick at the moment, but I'd be tempted to try bump at least one up to 5m?

Possibly downgrade Luiz or Tosun --> King if you like the 4-3-3 formation

          Good luck 🙂
