Fantasy Premier League managers have a last chance to pour over the pre-season minutes data before the Gameweek 1 deadline passes.
We’ve collated the game-time of every player over July and August and can bring you the numbers for the second five clubs in this part two.
If you don’t see a player’s name included it means they have played zero minutes. Furthermore, there are some players who have been involved enough in pre-season for us to draw attention to them, even if they haven’t been added to the game yet.
LEICESTER CITY
Leicester played five pre-season fixtures this summer. The maximum possible number of minutes that could have been accrued by one of their players was 450.
Goalkeepers
- Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) – 180 minutes
- Eldin Jakupovic (£4.5m) – 180 minutes
- Danny Ward (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
Schmeichel’s late return to training following the World Cup is the only reason he is not further clear of his colleagues for pre-season minutes. He is expected to be the key man in goal again this season.
Defenders
- Wes Morgan (£4.5m) – 322 minutes
- Ben Chilwell (£5.0m) – 320 minutes
- Darnell Johnson – 265 minutes
- Callum Elder – 223 minutes
- Christian Fuchs (£4.5m) – 179 minutes
- Ricardo Pereira (£5.0m) – 146 minutes
- Yohan Benalouane (£4.0m) – 146 minutes
- Jonny Evans (£5.0m) – 139 minutes
Morgan has been used more than any other Leicester defender in pre-season making him the most assured of a start at Old Trafford. Chilwell was not far behind him. There could be an involvement for versatile man Johnson who is capable of playing either centrally or at full-back. Benalouane’s pre-season exploits were curtailed by his World Cup leave following a trip to Russia with Tunisia, but may have to play against Man United with Evans’ injury.

- Vicente Iborra (£5.0m) – 275 minutes
- James Maddison (£6.5m) – 274 minutes
- Marc Albrighton (£5.5m) – 183 minutes
- Hamza Choudhury (£4.5m) – 160 minutes
- Wilfried Ndidi (£5.0m) – 146 minutes
- Nampalys Mendy – 137 minutes
- Demarai Gray (£5.5m) – 124 minutes
- Adrien Silva (£5.0m) – 117 minutes
- Andy King – 103 minutes
Leicester’s midfield looks like a bit of a no-fly zone for Fantasy managers with assets such as Diabaté, Amartey and Iborra all the most used in pre-season but with little Fantasy appeal. Maddison played a big part in the Foxes’ summer campaign but has now picked up an injury.
Forwards
- Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.5m) – 146 minutes
- Islam Slimani – 86 minutes
- Leonardo Ulloa – 86 minutes
Iheanacho was the most-used centre-forward in pre-season paving the way for a start at Old Trafford in light of Vardy’s absence. However, the Nigerian was still a latecomer following the World Cup.
LIVERPOOL
Liverpool played eight pre-season matches making the most number of minutes possible for any player 720.
Goalkeepers
- Loris Karius (£5.0m) – 392 minutes
- Alisson Becker (£5.5m) – 163 minutes
- Danny Ward (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
- Caoimhin Kelleher – 90 minutes
- Kamil Grabara – 70 minutes
Karius actually played a large portion of pre-season for Liverpool but is obviously now second-choice behind new signing Alisson Becker, even if he has only appeared in two summer friendlies for the Reds.
Defenders
- Andrew Robertson (£6.0m) – 419 minutes
- Nathaniel Phillips – 398 minutes
- Virgil Van Dijk (£6.0m) – 397 minutes
- Joe Gomez (£5.0m) – 394 minutes
- Nathaniel Clyne (£5.0m) – 391 minutes
- Alberto Moreno (£4.5m) – 391 minutes
- Ragnar Klavan (£4.5m) – 315 minutes
- Joel Matip (£5.0m) – 112 minutes
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.0m) – 91 minutes
Popular options Robertson and Van Dijk look set to play oin Gameweek 1 after being used extensively in pre-season. Injuries to Matip and Klavan mean that Gomez should take the second centre-back slot but his minor issues in the last few days could even open the door for Phillips to play – only Robertson registered more pre-season minutes than him among Liverpool defenders.
Midfielders
- Fabinho (£6.0m) – 456 minutes
- James Milner (£5.5m) – 408 minutes
- Naby Keita (£7.5m) – 341 minutes
- Adam Lallana (£7.0m) – 315 minutes
- Sadio Mané (£9.5m) – 197 minutes
- Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) – 182 minutes
- Georginio Wijnaldum (£5.5m) – 152 minutes
- Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.5m) – 135 minutes
- Jordan Henderson (£5.5m) – 20 minutes
Any worries over whether new signings Fabinho and Keita will be involved in Liverpool’s first-team this year should be played down by their pre-season game-time. They were in the top three most-used midfielders during the summer, with Fabinho in particular, regularly involved, although he is a doubt for Gameweek 1. Attacking midfielders like Salah, Mané and Shaqiri would have played more if it wasn’t for the World Cup, but have been back long enough to be pushing for starts this weekend.
Forwards
- Daniel Sturridge (£6.0m) – 368 minutes
- Dominic Solanke (£5.0m) – 363 minutes
- Divock Origi – 244 minutes
- Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) – 90 minutes
There are some interesting alternatives to Firmino if Liverpool opt not to use him too much at the start of the season, although he should be fresh given he played only a few minutes with Brazil in Russia. Sturridge looks like the most likely to come in for Firmino if need, as the most-used Liverpool forward this summer and their top-scorer for July and August too.
Manchester City
Manchester City played just four pre-season matches, the last of which was the Community Shield final. The maximum number of possible minutes for one of their players was 360.
Goalkeepers
- Claudio Bravo (£5.0m) – 270 minutes
Bravo could start for Man City against Arsenal after Ederson’s pre-season absence helped him register a large chunk of minutes in goal.
Defenders
- Aymeric Laporte (£5.5m) – 153 minutes
- Benjamin Mendy (£6.0m) – 90 minutes
- John Stones (£5.5m) – 90 minutes
- Kyle Walker (£6.5m) – 90 minutes
- Vincent Kompany (£5.5m) – 10 minutes
- Nicolas Otamendi (£6.5m) – 4 minutes
Of the first-team defenders at Manchester City only Laporte was used in more than one match. Other than that, we don’t have a lot to go on, other than the fact that Mendy and Walker will probably start in the full-back positions.
Midfielders
- Phil Foden (£5.0m) – 323 minutes
- Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.0m) – 270 minutes
- Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) – 212 minutes
- Bernardo Silva (£7.5m) – 197 minutes
- Brahim Diaz (£5.0m) – 126 minutes
- Leroy Sané (£9.5m) – 107 minutes
- Fernandinho (£5.5m) – 90 minutes
- Ilkay Gündoğan (£5.5m) – 45 minutes
Again, like City’s defence, there is little to go on when it comes to first-team midfield. Foden should feature in the early weeks as the most-used player for the Citizens in pre-season. Mahrez and Bernardo Silva should also be involved too given how often they were deployed this summer.
Forwards
- Sergio Aguero (£11.0m) – 90 minutes
- Gabriel Jesus (£10.5m) – 24 minutes
Aguero’s start in the Community Shield, with Jesus on the bench, indicates he should be first-choice for Man City in Gameweek 1, although the pair did spend some time in a front two in the second-half of that match.
Manchester United
Man United played six pre-season friendlies for a total of 540 minutes.
Goalkeepers
- Lee Grant – 191 minutes
- Joel Pereira – 180 minutes
- David De Gea (£6.0m) – 169 minutes
David De Gea has returned from his summer leave in time to nearly match the other goalkeepers at Man United for minutes in just two appearances. He is almost certain to start in Gameweek 1.
Defenders
- Eric Bailly (£5.5m) – 456 minutes
- Matteo Darmian (£5.0m) – 447 minutes
- Luke Shaw (£5.0m) – 394 minutes
- Chris Smalling (£6.0m) – 264 minutes
- Victor Lindelof (£5.0m) – 79 minutes
- Antonio Valencia (£6.5m) – 53 minutes
- Phil Jones (£5.5m) – 25 minutes
Bailly and Smalling were the most-used centre-backs in pre-season but Lindelof and Jones may have to be named in the line-up against Leicester if either of them does miss out through injury. Shaw and Darmian have been the key men in the full-back areas this summer, only Bailly registering more minutes.
Midfielders
- Andreas Pereira (£5.0m) – 533 minutes
- Ander Herrera (£5.0m) – 522 minutes
- Juan Mata (£6.5m) – 439 minutes
- Scott McTominay (£4.5m) – 416 minutes
- Alexis Sanchez (£10.5m) – 416 minutes
- Fred (£6.0m) – 166 minutes
- Anthony Martial (£7.5m) – 150 minutes
Forwards
- Marcus Rashford (£7.0m) – 65 minutes
None of Man United’s forwards on FPL are looking completely match-ready for Gameweek 1. The only one who played in pre-season was Rashford, who managed just 65 minutes in the final friendly of the summer.
Newcastle United
Newcastle played five friendlies over the summer. The most minutes one of their players could have played was 450.
Goalkeepers
- Karl Darlow (£4.5m) – 215 minutes
- Martin Dubravka (£5.0m) – 145 minutes
- Mats Sels – 45 minutes
- Freddy Woodman – 45 minutes
A Dubravka injury that needs assessing is the reason why Darlow has been registered more pre-season minutes for Newcastle than any of his goalkeeping colleagues. If Dubravka fails his fitness test, it will be Darlow starting against Spurs.
Defenders
- DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m) – 315 minutes
- Jamaal Lascelles (£5.0m) – 270 minutes
- Ciaran Clark (£4.5m) – 262 minutes
- Paul Dummett (£4.5m) – 203 minutes
- Javier Manquillo (£4.5m) – 174 minutes
- Fabian Schär (£5.0m) – 106 minutes
- Florian Lejeune (£4.5m) – 45 minutes
No Newcastle defender managed more game-time in pre-season than Yedlin, securing the right-back spot as his own once again. Club captain Lascelles was the most-used Newcastle centre-back in which cements his place in the starting line-up too. Clark should play alongside him given his minute-count was only just behind his skipper, while the left-back position is less settled, with Dummett and Manquillo playing a similar amount of time over the summer.
Midfielders
- Matt Ritchie (£6.0m) – 355 minutes
- Mohamed Diamé (£5.0m) – 296 minutes
- Christian Atsu (£5.5m) – 231 minutes
- Jonjo Shelvey (£5.5m) – 209 minutes
- Isaac Hayden (£4.5m) – 178 minutes
- Jacob Murphy (£5.0m) – 174 minutes
- Ki Sung-yeung (£5.0m) – 134 minutes
- Kenedy (£5.0m) – 67 minutes
Ritchie registered more pre-season minutes than any other Newcastle player, while Atsu should start out wide on the opposite flank. Diamé was not far behind Ritchie while Shelvey only missed some of the summer programme through a minor injury.
Forwards
- Ayoze Perez (£6.0m) – 325 minutes
- Joselu (£5.0m) – 269 minutes
- Salomon Rondon (£6.0m) – 59 minutes
Newcastle’s striker situation is difficult to assess as Perez was the most-used in pre-season but Benitez has since added Muto and Rondon into the mix, who are surely set to start games eventually, given the decision to sign them.
SOUTHAMPTON
Southampton played six pre-season friendlies, making maximum game-time for their players 540 minutes.
Goalkeepers
- Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) – 360 minutes
- Angus Gunn (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
- Fraser Forster (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
McCarthy’s extensive game-time in pre-season compared to his colleagues proves he is the number one goalkeeper for Southampton this season.
Defenders
- Wesley Hoedt (£4.5m) – 484 minutes
- Ryan Bertrand (£5.0m) – 434 minutes
- Jack Stephens (£4.5m) – 335 minutes
- Jannik Vestergaard (£5.0m) – 294 minutes
- Matt Targett (£4.5m) – 274 minutes
- Sam McQueen (£4.0m) – 222 minutes
- Jan Bednarek (£4.0m) – 150 minutes
- Maya Yoshida (£4.5m) – 21 minutes
Hoedt and Bertrand are almost certainly guaranteed to start based on their heavy involvement in pre-season. Vestergaard was an ever-present in the line-up after he completed his transfer from Borussia Mönchengladbach while, despite registering 335 minutes, Stephens could be at risk. The totals above could be somewhat misleading – Bednarek played fewer minutes than Stephens but was involved in every match after his return to training following World Cup leave, often at his expense.
Midfielders
- Stuart Armstrong (£5.5m) – 321 minutes
- Oriol Romeu (£4.5m) – 288 minutes
- Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (£4.5m) – 269 minutes
- Mario Lemina (£5.0m) – 250 minutes
- James Ward-Prowse (£5.5m) – 236 minutes
- Nathan Redmond (£5.5m) – 216 minutes
- Steven Davis (£5.0m) – 173 minutes
- Mohamed Elyounoussi (£6.5m) – 165 minutes
- Joshua Sims (£4.5m) – 72 minutes
New signing Armstrong has been used by Mark Hughes more than any other Southampton midfielder in pre-season, which should see him play a role in Gameweek 1. Romeu’s 288 minutes make him one of the reliable £4.5m midfielders who looks guaranteed to play. After being involved heavily early on, Ward-Prowse and Redmond’s pre-season minutes dwindled towards the end of the summer.
Forwards
- Manolo Gabbiadini (£6.0m) – 329 minutes
- Charlie Austin (£6.0m) – 312 minutes
- Shane Long (£5.0m) – 156 minutes
- Danny Ings (£5.5m) – 90 minutes [PLAYED AT LIVERPOOL]
Gabbiadini looks like the most assured of a start in the Southampton front-line after being the most-used forward of the summer. However, Austin was not far off despite manager Hughes managing his game-time after injury ended his 2017/18 campaign early. The arrival of Ings obviously complicates things long-term but his pre-season programme at Liverpool did not feature too much game-time, handing Gabbiadini and Austin the advantage early on.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Spurs played four matches in public this summer making the maximum game-time possible by one of their players, that we could calculate 360 minutes.
Goalkeepers
- Paulo Gazzaniga – 182 minutes
- Michel Vorm (£5.0m) – 178 minutes
The Spurs’ goalkeeper situation for the early Gameweeks is a little unsettled. Lloris has not played a single minute of pre-season while Gazzaniga and Vorm shared minutes over the summer.
Defenders
- Ben Davies (£6.0m) – 283 minutes
- Kyle Walker-Peters (£4.5m) – 265 minutes
- Serge Aurier (£6.0m) – 238 minutes
- Anthony Georgiou – 200 minutes
- Cameron Carter-Vickers – 181 minutes
- Davinson Sanchez (£6.0m) – 146 minutes
Davies looks the surest option when considering the Spurs defence but absences elsewhere means that he is likely to be deployed at centre-back, as he has been during pre-season. Walker-Peters should get a start on the left-flank while Aurier should be secure of a start before Trippier returns to full-time action.

- Luke Amos – 346 minutes
- Lucas Moura (£7.0m) – 255 minutes
- Oliver Skipp – 255 minutes
- Son Heung-min (£8.5m) – 228 minutes
- Georges-Kevin Nkoudou (£5.0m) – 213 minutes
- Christian Eriksen (£9.5m) – 177 minutes
- Moussa Sissoko (£5.0m) – 125 minutes
- Erik Lamela (£6.5m) – 79 minutes
Forwards
- Fernando Llorente (£6.0m) – 213 minutes
If Kane is not declared fit for Gameweek 1 then Llorente should lead the line. No other Spurs forward managed as much game-time as him in pre-season, where he found the net four times.
Watford
Watford played five friendlies over the summer making the maximum possible game-time available for one of their players 450 minutes.
Goalkeepers
- Ben Foster (£4.5m) – 225 minutes
- Heurelho Gomes (£4.5m) – 135 minutes
Foster looks set to be the number one goalkeeper for Watford after getting more game-time than Gomes in pre-season.
Defenders
- Daryl Janmaat (£5.0m) – 269 minutes
- Christian Kabasele (£4.5m) – 240 minutes
- Jose Holebas (£4.5m) – 225 minutes
- Craig Cathcart (£4.5m) – 209 minutes
- Marc Navarro (£4.5m) – 136 minutes
- Sebastian Prödl (£4.5m) – 135 minutes
- Adrian Mariappa (£4.5m) – 120 minutes
- Miguel Britos (£4.5m) – 105 minutes
- Kiko Femenia (£4.5m) – 45 minutes
Janmaat and Kabasele look to be the most important Watford defenders after extensive game-time during the summer. Holebas and Catchart were also used enough times to be expected to have Gameweek 1 involvement.
Midfielders
- Ken Sema (£5.0m) – 301 minutes
- Roberto Pereyra (£6.0m) – 299 minutes
- Etienne Capoue (£5.0m) – 240 minutes
- Will Hughes (£5.0m) – 161 minutes
It is hard to predict who will play in midfield for Watford after only a few of their first-team options were involved in pre-season action. Sema and Pereyra look fair secure of a start with Capoue and Hughes also featuring.
Forwards
- Troy Deeney (£6.0m) – 271 minutes
- Andre Gray (£6.0m) – 269 minutes
- Isaac Success – 209 minutes
It is hard to call which of Watford’s two key strikers is first-choice right now with them largely sharing minutes in pre-season. An unsettled area of the Hornets squad, at least for now.
West Ham United
West Ham played seven friendlies this summer making the maximum possible amount of game-time for one of their players 630 minutes.
Goalkeepers
- Adrian (£4.5m) – 405 minutes
- Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) – 180 minutes
While it is believed Fabianski should be the first choice for West Ham, his late return to training following World Cup leave meant that Adrian played in goal for most of pre-season.
Defenders
- Arthur Masuaku (£4.5m) – 506 minutes [MIDFIELDER IN FPL]
- Issa Diop (£4.5m) – 413 minutes
- Angelo Ogbonna (£4.5m) – 389 minutes
- Declan Rice (£4.5m) – 344 minutes
- Ryan Fredericks (£4.5m) – 325 minutes
- Pablo Zabaleta (£4.5m) – 296 minutes
- Fabian Balbuena (£4.5m) – 251 minutes
- Sam Byram (£4.5m) – 76 minutes
- Aaron Cresswell (£5.5m) – 57 minutes
West Ham’s defence looks to be largely unsettled, at least until we see more competitive team-sheets. Masuaku played more minutes than any other Hammers player this summer but Cresswell came back into the equation in the final match. Three centre-backs all stand a chance of starting in Gameweek 1 with Diop leading the way, Ogbonna just behind on minutes played, while Balbuena started very match after his arrival. The right-back slot appears to be between Zabaleta and Fredericks with the pair playing similar minutes.
Midfielders
- Mark Noble (£5.0m) – 498 minutes
- Robert Snodgrass (£5.5m) – 422 minutes
- Pedro Obiang (£4.5m) – 404 minutes
- Jack Wilshere (£5.0m) – 324 minutes
- Andriy Yarmolenko (£7.0m) – 195 minutes
- Felipe Anderson (£7.0m) – 162 minutes
- Michail Antonio (£7.0m) – 162 minutes
- Edimilson Fernandes (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
Noble and Obiang were both used extensively in deeper midfield roles. Further up the pitch, Snodgrass stands an outside chance of some involvement despite the reinforcements in wide area. No Hammers winger managed as much game-time as him over the summer, while Yarmolenko and Anderson registered just 195 and 162 minutes respectively.
Forwards
- Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) – 477 minutes
- Jordan Hugill (£5.0m) – 90 minutes
- Javier Hernandez (£6.5m) – 57 minutes
- Andy Carroll (£5.5m) – 45 minutes
Arnautovic looks very nailed-on to start as West Ham’s striker this season. Chicharito might complicate things when he is match ready but his return to pre-season was delayed by his involvement at the World Cup.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves played eight pre-season friendlies, of which two lasted just 45 minutes. Therefore, the maximum amount of game-time available to their players was 630 minutes.
Goalkeepers
- Rui Patricio (£4.5m) – 241 minutes
- John Ruddy (£4.5m) – 225 minutes
- Will Norris (£4.0m) – 157 minutes
As expected, Patricio should be the number one goalkeeper for Wolves this year. Despite coming back late from the World Cup, he still managed to overtake both Ruddy and Norris for pre-season minutes in time for Gameweek 1.
Defenders
- Conor Coady (£4.5m) – 513 minutes
- Matt Doherty (£4.5m) – 486 minutes
- Willy Boly (£4.5m) – 423 minutes
- Ryan Bennett (£4.0m) – 370 minutes
- Romain Sais (£4.5m) – 215 minutes
- Kortney Hause (£4.5m) – 207 minutes
- Danny Batth (£4.0m) – 144 minutes
- Jonny (£4.5m) – 61 minutes
Coady, Doherty and Boly appear to be the surest ways into Wolves’ defender. Bennett could have a role as a starting £4.0m defender too.
Midfielders
- Ruben Neves (£5.0m) – 486 minutes
- Helder Costa (£5.0m) – 486 minutes
- Diogo Jota (£6.5m) – 362 minutes
- Ryan Giles – 335 minutes
- Morgan Gibbs-White (£4.5m) – 332 minutes
- Ivan Cavaleiro (£5.5m) – 248 minutes
- Bright Enobakhare (£4.5m) – 144 minutes
- Joao Moutinho (£5.5m) – 117 minutes
Neves and Costa’s importance to the team was shown by his 486 minutes played in pre-season, the pair accruing more than any other midfielder. Jota was used extensively in the front line while Moutinho and Gibbs-White both played in the middle of the park enough to be considered for a Gameweek 1 start.
Forwards
- Leo Bonatini (£5.0m) – 216 minutes
- Raul Jimenez (£5.5m) – 207 minutes
Despite returning to training late following World Cup involvement with Mexico, Jimenez was only just behind Bonata for pre-season minutes. He should lead the line against Everton.
