Paul Pogba (£8.0m) heads up a number of players who have made an unexpected appearance in Gameweek 1 of Fantasy Premier League.

It was thought to be unlikely that the French World Cup winner would feature against Leicester in the first match of 2018/19, as a result of his exploits in Russia, but he captains Manchester United at Old Trafford.

However, the biggest surprise starter of the night from a Fantasy perspective is Harry Maguire (£5.5m), who will sit next to Wes Morgan (£4.5m) at the heart of the Leicester defence. That comes after suggestions from manager Claude Puel that he was a serious doubt to play after going deep into the World Cup with England.

Despite the suggestions he would miss out, Maguire was still picked in 17 percent of FPL squads. His contribution tonight could end up unexpectedly making a big difference to the Fantasy landscape of Gameweek 1.

James Maddison (£6.5m) passed a fitness test to start in the number 10 role Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) was considered ready enough only for the bench. But even that is an unexpected role for the England man, and he could be in the frame for a start against Wolves next week.

Also on the bench tonight is Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) while Marcus Rashford (£7.0m) leads the Manchester United attacking line. Alexis Sánchez (£10.5m) has not been given the centre-forwards role that was expected, or at least, that is what the team-sheet suggest. He may well take up that position after all with Rashford also able to operate out-wide.

Fantasy managers who had banked on World Cup semi-finalists not returning to full action for a few weeks may be hoping these team-sheets don’t set the tone for Gameweek 1.

MANCHESTER UNITED XI (4-3-3): De Gea; Shaw, Lindelof, Bailly, Darmian; Fred, Pogba, A Pereira; Sánchez, Rashford, Mata.

LEICESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Schmeicheln; Chilwell, Maguire, Morgan, Amartey; Silva, Nidda; Gray, Maddison, R Pereira; Iheanacho.

You cant join a head to head league after it has started. So if you try join a H2H league in gw2 after it started gw1 you wont be able to.

For a classic league I think your gw1 points are counted if you enter gw2 though

Communism necessitates a rejection of private property and voluntary exchange. "True communism" as commonly described is a utopia that ignores the problem of economic calculation and the fact that resources are scarce. The ideas of communism applied lead to tragedies because of this fact.

It's fine to argue this--I agree with it. But it's not OK to ban any symbol of that ideology because you disagree. Nazism was a very specific movement which encompassed genocide in its ideology. Communism, with which I do NOT agree, is an international ideology which does not inherently involve killing or genocide. The Soviet Union is associated with genocide. So are other communist countries. But communism as such, and especially the pro-worker symbol of the hammer and sickle, are not inherently associated with genocide. So I think it's OK to challenge this guy about what he is representing, but wrong to try to suppress his views.

You simply cannot say that the ideology of communism doesn't encompass genocide when it has killed hundreds of millions in mass killings and famine.

Personally I believe that when the state and big businesses mix, you get a distorted market in which the big businesses are in bed with the state.

However, I believe in the principle of self-ownership (that everybody owns themselves), and the principle of homesteading (if you initially mix your labor with an unowned resource, then it belongs to you) as a justification for the existence of private property. Thus, since everybody owns themselves, it is illegitimate to initiate force against others. This means that the existence of a state is inherently an act of aggression. However, it also means that economic inequality is unavoidable and any attempt to suppress it by stealing money from others to redistribute it is wrong.

On the same metric you are judging those countries you could argue Capitalism is equally responsible for death, subjugation of the poor and working class, imperialism, destruction of our planet etc. However this is not a political site. The symbol in my name is a reflection of an ideology I support not they way it has been implemented by other actors. If then you have a problem with that take it up with the mods. If they then tell me to remove it I will. Notice I did not judge your personal character on here the way you did me though by the way.

Both systems require authoritarianism when implemented. Both systems reject the idea that people are entitled to the fruits of their own labor. Both systems lead to dissenters being tortured / killed. The list goes on and on, and the closer you look, the smaller the gap between "extreme left wing" and "extreme right wing" becomes.

I don't agree with communism being "pro-worker" because it leads to less competitive markets and forces people to give up their businesses to the state. I think that's a justification which tries to hide the true face of communism.

To be fair, I'm not necessarily calling for his ban, but I'm just making the assumption that if somebody had turned up with a swastika as a profile picture the response would have been much different. I'm all for debate. 🙂

That’s what’s called argumentum ad verecundiam... an argument from authority... a logical fallacy.

The hammer and sickle was adopted during the Russian Revolution and since then has been the symbol of communism and nothing more. The hammer was symbolic of the workers, and the sickle/plow of the peasant... Together these covered the proletariat which the new communist union claimed to represent and be the banner for.

If your a history teacher and you don’t understand the symbolism of the hammer and sickle you shouldn’t be teaching our kids. No wonder we are pumping out champagne socialist youth that think heading towards communism is a good idea.

And communism is the baddest of the bad ideas! Communism does indeed kill people. Mao, Stalin, Cambodia under the communist Khmer Rouge, huge mass killings in communist Vietnam and present North Korea, small scale mass killings in communist Bulgaria, east Germany, Yugoslavia and Romania, communist Laos, communist Afghanistan pre 1979 invasion, Ethiopia’s red terror in 1978-79....

The list goes on and on. Don’t kid yourself mate.... the idea of communism has directly killed over 100million people in the 20th century alone.

I’ve seen him. Commented on it before calling him a Corbyn loving communist ideologue. Some people just ignore what history has taught us and it is dangerous.
Cuba has now rejected communism by changing its constitution to allow property ownership and free trade, venuzuala will be next with the state they have put themselves in. And dare I say... I can also see in the next 10-15 years North Korea moving towards free markets and capitalist frameworks. Possibly even a reunification deal with South Korea like communist East & Democratic West Germany in 1990 did!

I can guarantee that if somebody did that, they wouldn't get away with it. Double standards I'm afraid. Both ideologies are murderous and vile and take the idea that people have the right to rule others to their horrifying extremes.

Capitalism is the only thing that raises the poor out of poverty... look at the difference between north and South Korea in only 60 years, South is capitalist and north is communist... which has done better for ALL its citizens over that time? They were exactly the same in 1956.
Yes the rich get richer and the wealth gap increases, but the poor also get richer in comparison.
If you reduce the wealth of the richest... you are not going to make the poor richer. This is proven and I can send you studies that proove this if you want.

      To list a few:

Not true - I used a site that counts how many members are in a league, and I ran it on last season's GW 1 league and there were 3,880,221 members. Might have been a bit higher because some people inevitably deleted their accounts, but the number shouldn't be too far off.
