The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been dealing with the fallout from Gameweek 1 this week, with everything covered from early price changes to Kevin De Bruyne’s knee injury.

As well as the usual array of superb discussions in the comments this week, there have been some welcome article and table submissions that can help with our planning for Gameweek 2 and beyond.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Our community’s dissection of Gameweek 1 began with detailed analyses of three of the weekend’s fixtures, with maltasi, Bruce Lee and Parm offering some real insight into the Watford v Brighton, Bournemouth v Cardiff and Fulham v Crystal Palace fixtures respectively.

Richarlison had his owners worried after limping from the field in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Wolves, but facer reassured us with what turned out be a spot-on appraisal of the Brazilian’s injury.

With the start of a new season came the return of our regular What Have We Learned? and Rough with the Smooth topics, the latter of which featured RedLightning‘s early ascent to the top of the Mods and Cons league.

The Gameweek 1 picks of 15 Hall of Famers were the subject of rent_boy‘s FPL player analysis, meanwhile.

Eden Wizard was the winner of our Scout Pick Community Lottery for Gameweek 2, as attention turned to this forthcoming weekend.

The Community discussed the pros and cons of gambling on an early transfer, while G-Whizz rounded up the “Doosra stats”, fixture odds and clean sheet odds to help with our planning.

The repercussions of Kevin De Bruyne’s knee injury sparked debate, with Parm providing a deeper analysis of Manchester City’s tactical tweaks in the 2-0 win over Arsenal. Becks also gave us his predictions on what City’s line-up may look like this Sunday in De Bruyne’s absence.

ZoumasBloomers asked us for our favourite FPL goal of all time – as well as the goal that has hurt you the most.

DJDave1979 pondered if some premium defenders were season-keepers, while the indefatigable TorresMagic was back to round up the early price rises and drops. Cheers, TM!

COMMUNITY TABLES

There are numerous user-generated tables to pore over this week:

COMMUNITY ARTICLES

We have had some brilliant articles submitted this week, which all proved to be an enjoyable read. TopMarx provided some excellent research into what constitutes a successful season in FPL  looking at how the increase in managers and quantity of players using different websites for advice have both changed the parameters somewhat.

We continued our series of RMTs by having a look at RedLightning’s team for Gameweek 2  while MathewNixon treated us to part two of Everton’s Silva Lining.

COMMUNITY TOURNAMENTS

There was a fast start in FFS Mods and Cons for RedLightning, with TorresMagic and Ragabolly off to flyers too. Deputy editor Skonto Rigga is also currently in the top five after Gameweek 1, narrowly ahead of our very own Joe:

1. RedLightning – 104 points
2. TorresMagic – 98 points
3. Ragabolly – 91 points
4. Skonto Rigga – 90 points
5. Joe – 89 points

Meanwhile, a Bench Boost has fired Vladimir Jelenić to the summit of the public FantasyFootballScout league:

1. Vladimir Jelenić – 133 points
2. Warren Lim – 131 points
3. Ben Wheatcroft – 129 points
4. Andy Davies – 122 points
5. Petri Selkäinaho – 119 points

In our Members’ league, Nick Howard also deployed his Bench Boost chip to great effect:

1. Nick Howard – 129 points
2. Alistair Ross – 118 points
3. Takeshi Igomoto – 117 points
4. Timothy Wright – 112 points
5=. Rickhard Alen/Luke Aiello/Aron Hogni Georgsson – 111 points

Last season how many times did it pay off not to captain Salah as the other popular captain scored well and Salah didn't?

    Anyone got any stats?

I followed the general consensus most weeks and capped Kane over Salah frequently and dependent on fixtures. I think I ended up about 20 points worse off overall than if I had just permacapped Salah.

Nah... what? I had Salah from the start and Kane for most of it and definitely did worse when I deviated from Mo. IIRC it was to the tune of 20 points.

The whole of the guardian "article" seems to revolve around their theory that Jesus is actually first choice.. here is a snippet : " it would not be the first time Guardiola has preferred the 21-year-old. Jesus made his debut for City in the 4-0 win over West Ham in February last year, with Agüero being demoted to the bench. The 30-year-old regained his automatic place only when Jesus suffered a foot injury two weeks later at Bournemouth." That's not even remotely true. Aguero started almost every game when fit. I think they are just speculating based on that crazy assumption and using the article as clickbait. The number of views of said article are through the roof I'd imagine considering fpls huge popularity nowadays

No quotes ..no nothing. It's an article totally based on one person's view point.

Yup I think so. If I'm.not mistaken city had a ucl game the week he was benched for Jesus. And he started almost every game after when fit even with Jesus available

I watched the whole interview. Not even a hint of Aguero not starting, (not even a mention of him or Jesus actually). Still think im going to captain Mendy though.

The way it's written it does look like they are trying to say that Jesus is first choice overall and hence why he starts. Anyway this panic may just lead me to captain Salah.. glad I own Aguero too so if he does go crazy I still get his points

Annoyingly using my FT on taking Leno out but I think i've narrowed it down to these two.. which would you prefer?

    A) Schmeichel
    B) Pickford

I know Leicester looked fairly decent at United last week but any idea's how Pickford / Everton were before the sending off?

    Any replies are appreciated.

Arnie looks good for tomorrow, but over the next 10 games WHU have the hardest fixtures out of all teams. He'll score tomorrow, but over the next 5, Im sure King will score more.

Most on here have probably seen this Guardian article about Kun being ‘dropped or rested’.

I’ve never heard of this Jamie Jackson before today so I don’t know how reliable he is or isn’t and I wouldn’t like to judge.

If anyone knows a bit more about this fella and this article I’d be glad to hear it as I imagine many more on here will be.

Aguero or not, City will hammer Huddersfield. With Zanka and Hogg out, Huddersfield's defence will be exposed, and will also require a change in tactics to a more attacking midfield. I see City overpowering them, an easy 5-0 or 6-0, with Aguero getting at least 2.

people are pretty quick to dismiss these rumours without a quote, but the second half of that press conference is under embargo so no quote can be given - he could easily have said something like 'Yes Jesus, Sergio, everyone is in contention, we will see' - we won't find out what he said until tomorrow evening

Been following these pressers for 10 years and never knew about this. U sure ? If an embargo then even mentioning it in an article kinda let's city sue the guardian since ppl can assume the source no?

yeah I don't know the publishing rules tbh - RAE below thinks that article came before the presser

I’m giving him another week and will probably use 2 FT gw3 to do Sanchez + King to Auba and Neves

Because against Brighton he might deliver, and then you want to swap him for hazard before gw3. Don’t waste a transfer.

    Pep's conference was at 1:30pm
The Guardian Article came out at 11am

This was already published prior to the conference, before the embargoed section. Whatever possessed the Guardian to write that article didn't come from the conference.

Kun (c) for me. I'll live in my little bubble of confidence until team news is announced 😉

Absolutely! Kun is their all time best scorer and I see no valid reason why Pep would bench him.

I'd be surprised if the article actually came out at 11am … that was just when he set it up in the morning? they didn't actually tweet it out until after the press conference
