The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been dealing with the fallout from Gameweek 1 this week, with everything covered from early price changes to Kevin De Bruyne’s knee injury.

As well as the usual array of superb discussions in the comments this week, there have been some welcome article and table submissions that can help with our planning for Gameweek 2 and beyond.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Our community’s dissection of Gameweek 1 began with detailed analyses of three of the weekend’s fixtures, with maltasi, Bruce Lee and Parm offering some real insight into the Watford v Brighton, Bournemouth v Cardiff and Fulham v Crystal Palace fixtures respectively.

Richarlison had his owners worried after limping from the field in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Wolves, but facer reassured us with what turned out be a spot-on appraisal of the Brazilian’s injury.

With the start of a new season came the return of our regular What Have We Learned? and Rough with the Smooth topics, the latter of which featured RedLightning‘s early ascent to the top of the Mods and Cons league.

The Gameweek 1 picks of 15 Hall of Famers were the subject of rent_boy‘s FPL player analysis, meanwhile.

Eden Wizard was the winner of our Scout Pick Community Lottery for Gameweek 2, as attention turned to this forthcoming weekend.

The Community discussed the pros and cons of gambling on an early transfer, while G-Whizz rounded up the “Doosra stats”, fixture odds and clean sheet odds to help with our planning.

The repercussions of Kevin De Bruyne’s knee injury sparked debate, with Parm providing a deeper analysis of Manchester City’s tactical tweaks in the 2-0 win over Arsenal. Becks also gave us his predictions on what City’s line-up may look like this Sunday in De Bruyne’s absence.

ZoumasBloomers asked us for our favourite FPL goal of all time – as well as the goal that has hurt you the most.

DJDave1979 pondered if some premium defenders were season-keepers, while the indefatigable TorresMagic was back to round up the early price rises and drops. Cheers, TM!

COMMUNITY TABLES

There are numerous user-generated tables to pore over this week:

COMMUNITY ARTICLES

We have had some brilliant articles submitted this week, which all proved to be an enjoyable read. TopMarx provided some excellent research into what constitutes a successful season in FPL  looking at how the increase in managers and quantity of players using different websites for advice have both changed the parameters somewhat.

We continued our series of RMTs by having a look at RedLightning’s team for Gameweek 2  while MathewNixon treated us to part two of Everton’s Silva Lining.

COMMUNITY TOURNAMENTS

There was a fast start in FFS Mods and Cons for RedLightning, with TorresMagic and Ragabolly off to flyers too. Deputy editor Skonto Rigga is also currently in the top five after Gameweek 1, narrowly ahead of our very own Joe:

1. RedLightning – 104 points
2. TorresMagic – 98 points
3. Ragabolly – 91 points
4. Skonto Rigga – 90 points
5. Joe – 89 points

Meanwhile, a Bench Boost has fired Vladimir Jelenić to the summit of the public FantasyFootballScout league:

1. Vladimir Jelenić – 133 points
2. Warren Lim – 131 points
3. Ben Wheatcroft – 129 points
4. Andy Davies – 122 points
5. Petri Selkäinaho – 119 points

In our Members’ league, Nick Howard also deployed his Bench Boost chip to great effect:

1. Nick Howard – 129 points
2. Alistair Ross – 118 points
3. Takeshi Igomoto – 117 points
4. Timothy Wright – 112 points
5=. Rickhard Alen/Luke Aiello/Aron Hogni Georgsson – 111 points

Is it possible that the Guardian, and thus every source that is referencing/retweeting the Kun/Jesus story, is not yet able to quote Pep due to him saying something regarding this in the embargoed part of the presser? That would then make a lot of sense for such a random tabloid to be catching wind...

    1. pressdpm

Why is part of the press conference embargoed by the way? Is this standard, because I swear we can normally watch entire conferences live.

Yes, but such a random subpar piece of journalism would be sure to hurt the paper unless and until they know something we don't and want to be the first to publish it (and can't quote due to the embargo)?

        1. pressdpm
          • 14 Years

It's not like they're making grand claims. Just said Guardiola may "consider" dropping him.

            • 12 Years
            8 years, 10 days ago

Yes but we already knew that. The fact that it was released as an article right after the Pep presser does make it seem like a claim. :/

Hurt the paper with a small piece that says maybe something is being considered?

I mean it is a waste of an article, and they'd be expected to write much more than clickbait...

Have you read the guardian before? It’s full of clickbait and rumour

    3. MTPockets
      8 years, 10 days ago

If it was based on something embargoed until tomorrow, there'd be no article until tomorrow.

      1. Ibralicious
        • 12 Years

No see that's my issue with this. The word 'considering' is being thrown around and that could simply be a guess by the journalist, although no direct quotes from Pep are used. Even the bloke retweeting it may have caught wind of this.. :/

        1. MTPockets
          8 years, 10 days ago

I don't get your issue. I'm sure Pep considers every option, but either that journo's more in the know than say this journo: https://twitter.com/Sammy_Goal/status/1030494836359618563 . Or he's constructed a very carefully worded article to hook clicks and attention from FPL nerds with something like 30/70 odds of being accidently correct in tone without specifically committing to a view.

I think the latter, but we'll see.

              8 years, 10 days ago

To be clear, not saying that one's any more in the know. Or that Aguero will definitely start. Just that I don't think anything has changed today.

Yeah, his comments cleared up the fact that Pep didn't mention anything out of the ordinary that would suggest Kun being dropped, enough for me to keep the armband on him.

Early days and a long marathon ahead, so a good time to test if Salah has good set and forget captain potential. I think I'll test this casual style of play for a few weeks. Ok, I'll take my umbrella to stand outside 😉

    Hello lads.
    Season long do you reckon:

    A) Bailly, Mendy, TAA
    B) Robertson, Mendy, Schlupp/Tomkins

I know the latter seems more appealing ostensibly, but in the prior you've got United coverage. That's a big plus for me - Bailly's clean sheet potential plus the fact that A maintains Liverpool coverage means been leaning towards that recently. Bit stumped. Opinions generously rewarded.

    1. Skalla
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 10 days ago

B , as we are not sure that Bailly and TAA is nailed yet with everyone fit , so that coverage might not mean much over the season.

Auba and Lucas Moura (tot) out for Sterling and Tosun (-4)?
    Yay/nay?

Have also Kun. If Kun doesn't play at least 60 mins vs Hud, he'll be my next GWs transfer out for Auba...

But if Kun doesn't play I wouldn't have any City coverage (only Mendy).... also have a gut feeling Sterling will go insane on sunday...

You will want Auba back next week , so atleast wait another week.

Yes I do. That week I'd do Kun to Auba... probably... 😀

I’m not a Kane owner but this is surely his best ever chance to break the August curse

Pretty trivial question but would appreciate some thoughts!

    Play one!

    A) AWB

    B) Tomkins

      50/60
Maybe Tomkins more of a threat from set pieces?

It's a real newspaper, but like most has an increasing amount of clickbait and not-news.
