Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 3 set piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the second of a new series of Members articles we assess once again where set play situations can be exploited.

Where this differs from the Set Pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have two rounds of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 3.

I’ve patricio and feel the need to move him out, just not sure who? Any idea when arsenal will start to play Leno?
I’d also like to bring in Mkhitaryan ideally

I would like to only change gk's when using wildcard, otherwise it feels a little unworthy.
I was looking at Mkhi as well, but I don't want to get rid of anyone in my midfield, so I think I'm just going to monitor

I just can’t help think that Leno has dropped in value now, Cech hasn’t performed well and isn’t great at play8ng out from the back in the way the manager wants, plus Arsenal have a great run of fixtures, if he starts Leno this week then he could get good points and rapidly increase in value

Arghhh Pedro or Mkhi is baffling me!

Pedro has better fixtures just over next 4 but Mkhi has better long term fixtures.

Pedro is in the better team but Mkhi has a great link up with Aubameyang. Both I think nailed on...

I got Alonso on wc so leaning miki as I have no other arsenal, looked pretty good against Chelsea away, both players would have been 9m ish couple of seasons ago, both got potential

Miki just I think, haz coming back could mean rotation for one of will/morata/pedro

I'm dropping Siggy this week. Do I go budget like Kante or Fraser and use money elsewhere, or go premium like Mane or Pogba and keep Forwards as listed?

"Both full-backs can probably 70% or 80% better but I’m very happy with the result.”

Klopp after the game v Palace.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Robertson and/or TAA benched at the weekend. Klopp made Moreno captain in the last pre-season game and, for the good of the group, I think he'll give some of the squad players games. His pointed comments after the game suggests as such. Rotation factor, and it is a real issue, is the reason why I think VVD is still a good pick. I also think the GW 6 game v Southampton is another problem for Robertson owners

            • 10 Years
            7 years, 4 months ago

Trent maybe, highly doubt Robbo will be "rotated" this weekend.
Moreno is a massive step down where as Clyne isn't.
Robertson's linkup with Mane/Keita is awesome, Klopp is just saying that to motivate/manage expectations.

Agreed. I think it's unlikely. But there's a chance. GW6 is a definite cause for concern. It follows an international break, which Moreno will take no part in and Robertson will, then Spurs away, Champs' league game midweek....then GW6 plum fixture at home v Southampton, a fixture Klopp will have the luxury of resting several key players in and still get a result rather than risk burnout and injury for a month.

Full back is a physically demanding role, much more so than CB. And whereas VVD is in the spine of the team, Robertson isn't. I'm afraid it's absolutely guaranteed Robertson misses at least one of the next 4 GWs and Southampton (h) fixture is the most likely

It's a fair assumption but absolutely guaranteed - no chance. Robbo was racking up the games last year and is in good shape.

If Robbo holders genuinely think this then getting rid after Leicester would make sense ahead of Spurs away, potential blank, Chelsea away, City home. Think I'll be holding long term tho 🙂

Absolutely guaranteed was a poor choice of words. I think, shall we say, that's it's more likely than not. Moreno will need minutes to be prepared for when he is needed, and Robertson, can't play all the games, in that demanding role it's asking for trouble. He played a lot at the end of last season because the first half of his season was so quiet. An accumulation of games and fatigue may set in at the business end of the season.

That's what I think, not really optimistic about clean sheets myself. But in terms of attacking returns ? Fulham seem pretty weak in defense and conceded a lot of cross in the first two games, could be good for Lowton. Both Keane and Townkins are dangerous on set-pieces (Keane already 4 attempts). Looks like a lottery to me, to be honest. I guess I will go with Lowton-Tomkins just because I own Fraser.

Was just about to do some Aubameyang with/without Lacazette stats but realised they've only started four PL games together. The amount of talk it got during pre-season about how Aubameyang playing wide affected him last season you'd think the sample size would be higher.

I prefer back heavy, and you still have Arsenal coverfor their good fixtures either way

    Anything worth a hit?

    Ederson
    Rob/Mendy/Daniels
    Salah/Pedro/Cairney/Richarlison
    Aguero/Auba/King

    1.6 itb

    Giving King one last run.

    A) King> Ings and Cairney > Mihki -4
    B) King > Zaha

If you have King now, probably just use him this week. Manager who transfer out King just because panic of price drop. Sometime early transfer is good especially early stages to get as many as possible price changes for future Wildcard.

Pep mentioned it in his post-Huddersfield presser, it should be no shock to anyone.

Hey guys, whilst I'm not wild carding this week, is it better to do all your transfers first and then press wild card, or press wild card and then do all the transfers?

I heard that if you do the former you can take advantage of price rises, whilst with the latter you can't? Sorry, I'm still a bit new to all this.

Hit the button and transfer afterwards. Price rises can short term boosts for players hitting short peaks of form so not all are a good long term buy.

dont bother, just press the wildcard at once

I don't think it makes a difference when you press it, you can still take advantage of price rises if you press the wildcard early, Just make sure you press it before deadline

    Thoughts will be appreciated !
    A) Mikhi > L.Moura
    B) Pedro > L.Moura
    C) Madisson > L.Mora
    E) Keep L.Moura

I went Pedro to get some Chelsea coverage , may change to Mikhi if he gets rotated. I like how attacking the new coach is at Stamford Bridge

ok chaps, got this on WC, just need to decide whether to ditch fraser and upgrade one of cook/wan b to Robertson (if so which one)

    ederson/hamer
    pva/mendy/Alonso/cook/wan b
    salah/mane/rich/miki/fraser
    kun/Wilson/kamara 0.9 itb

fraser to huson-odoi (4.4), cook to robbo, and leave 0.5 itb, wan b provides bench cover apart from this week, rather have funds on the field than have bench players who would only get 1/2 points anyway if needed

      Or you could go with one of these options;
      1)Fraser -> 5m and upgrade Kamara to Jiminez/Ings.
      2) Alternatively downgrade pva to a 4.5 and upgrade Fraser to Pedro/Maddison and rotate 3rd def between 3 cheapos.
If leaving as is, I would suggest you upgrade Wilson to Zaha or even Arnie

        cheers for your comments

I just got rid of neves to bring in miki and not keen on any 5m mids really, but yeah, fraser to pedro might work (always got wan b for palace fullback cover, just liked the idea of 4 very attacking defenders)

just dropped arnie to kamara after much dilemma, if Wilson rises again I could afford change to zaha/arnie

Starting to like Kante as a 5m option. Ok, he can’t finish, but he was in the box a lot causing havoc against Arsenal in his new, more advanced role

Worried about Mkhitaryan, Ramsey could come back in and maybe Lacazette coming in.
    Will Mkhi definitely start?

Does anyone have a view on whether Hamer will keep his place? Lossl isn’t marked injured and Hamer was badly at fault for a couple of City’s goals

The midfield is obviously fantastic, I just wish you’d had 0.5 to either upgrade Hamer or to Uprade Wilson to Zaha.
