Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 3 set piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the second of a new series of Members articles we assess once again where set play situations can be exploited.

Where this differs from the Set Pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have two rounds of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 3.

    A) Ederson + Wilson

    or

    B) Foster (or other 4.5m???) + Zaha

Tough one, as Watford have tough fixtures coming, whereas Palace have a nice run.

Any thoughts on this potential trade?

Bailly & Pogba > Shaw/TAA & D Silva. (It would have to be for -4 if I did it this week).

    1. Chilli Heatwave
      • 7 Years

I like TAA/Dilva move but too sidewards for -4 imo

      1. Demel
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

TAA has Brighton (H) & DSilva has Wolves (A) vs Bailly/Pogba who have Spurs (H). The -4 could pay off.

Risky, even if it ends up -1 would be worth so could be worth a punt

    1. Demel

It depends on what position on the bench Kamara will be.

First on bench this week then reassess. Feel that it could work with a 442 with Palace good run of fixtures and the value of their defenders.

Not for me. I think you need a better option on the bench with a tricky fixture list beginning soon.

Can't see it becoming a trend unless he gets injured or completely drops of form with no attacking threat which is hard to imagine at the moment.

    5. Lazaretti

      7 years, 4 months ago

Maybe after next week. I have Mane/VVD but I don't have any Arsenal players. If shipping out Salah I could get Aubameyang. Salah & Ings to Aubameyang + 7.5mid (Mkhi/Ramsey/Willian/Maddison). I would still have ok Captain options in Aguero/Mane/Aubameyang. Arsenal fixtures much better than Liverpool's though Salah is fixture proof of course.

Are folks considering divesting one or two Liverpool assets after this week?

Their tough run does coincide with beautiful fixtures for Everton, Chelsea, City and Arsenal... so not sure holding 3 Liverpool makes sense during that spell....

Hokey Cokey’s can go dreadfully wrong though as i’m sure we all know

    1. La Roja
      • 13 Years

Form over fixtures for me. Liverpool looking good.

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 15 Years
        7 years, 4 months ago

Very true... I’m trying to predict whether the tough fixtures will pull down their form though... they will win handsomely this weekend...

but by the time we get to GW7 I don’t expect them to have got more than 6 or 7 points from those 4 games GW4-GW7

        1. La Roja
          • 13 Years
          7 years, 4 months ago

I think the opposite. Liverpool will score lots of goals this season and against Chelsea City Arsenal who don’t park the bus, I can see them scoring 6-7 goals over 3 games. Which means points for Mane and Salah most likely.

          1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
            • 15 Years
            7 years, 4 months ago

Yep, but would you hold those two plus a def during the run? If you throw in the home game to city that’s a 5 game run....

Considering dropping Firmino this week but I do have serious fear he'll deliver. From and FPL perspective he didn't look great against Palace.

I have had Moura but his fixtures aren't great. I have just brought in Pogba. Truth be told I have wildcarded for tactical reasons after a strong start. Just not sure about Moura for rotation risk either.

Wanted to get rid of bilva halfway into that arsenal game until he scored a screamer. Did nothing in a 6-1 thinking of Huddersfield. Do I really need him in my team with sterling, sane, Silva and mahrez all fit to play? Does mkhi offer greater value or he is just but another rotation threat. Tempted by this tf the only problem being that I have 0 ft.

If you're watching him and he doesn't pass your eye test then why not transfer him out, its better to trust yourself. Having said that I wouldn't get rid for a hit!

If you already own a player and he is playing I also wouldn't worry about rotation until it starts happening, bit risky making a transfer decision by trying to guess a future decision of a manager.

I wouldn't transfer out Auba with nice fixtures coming.

Ings, but i'd keep King if you've got him and you've already taken the price drop.

Yes sir, 5.5 nailed City mid, was very advanced v huddersfield, could be a bargain till KDB comes back

Lindelof -> PVA for a -4 with 0.5 in the bank?

No. Not for a hit. See how United do this week. Last season they were poor defensively and then they changed the mindset and kept a lot of clean sheets. They hav some great fixtures coming up defensively. 1 more week and do it for free if you wish next week.

Why, do you not fancy Lindelof's chances of starting?

I have a suspicion he could lose his spot this GW

    Hi Guys,

A professional critique would be very much appreciated.

    Ederson (Hamer)
    Robertson, Mendy, Alonso (Bennett, Peltier)
    Salah, Mane, Mkhi, Rich, (neves)
    Aguero, Wilson, Ings

Neves, Wilson and Ings are my concern.
I was thinking (Maddison or Fraser), Kamara, Ings instead.

Please let me know your thoughts on any of it

All the best and good luck

Why Wilson and Ings are a concern since they're in form ?

Just the fact I am on a WC and can put Maddison in.Swaying to keep Wilson and Ings.

oh right it’s a WC team. in that case i’d be worried about going all the way until xmas with only neves as a guaranteed sub. why no wan-bissaka?

as UCL/league cup games start and fixtures get congested you’ll have to rely on your bench more and more. it’s not a big issue at the start of the season, but now you’ve WC you need to consider the implications

Similar to mine, but I prefer Trippier over Wilson moving forward
