Fantasy Premier League managers are encouraged to factor the Gameweek 3 set piece match-ups in their transfer plans in the next few days.

In the second of a new series of Members articles we assess once again where set play situations can be exploited.

Where this differs from the Set Pieces tab is that we have added extra detail on how many of each set piece has been taken so far, which players have had the most attempts from set-plays in terms of goal efforts, as well as how like teams are to receive or give away free kicks or penalties.

That way, by comparing each team’s overall set piece data to find any mismatches, individuals expected to benefit from these situations will become clearer.

We ran similar articles during the World Cup and found them to helpful to Fantasy managers, hence why we have decided to bring them to FPL.

Obviously we only have two rounds of data so far so it may difficult to find too many over-arching trends right now, but we’ll be building on this template every week for Members to use when making their transfers or deciding on team selection.

Any differences between the takers here and on the set-pieces tab are purely because that individual is not available in Gameweek 3.

gtg? i know the frontline is a bit of vomit but got to keep the faith in king and tosun I think. Will likely bin King next week but Tosun has a great run of fixtures and so does Zaha

I dont see a big difference in the points the keepers will bring in, maybe 10-15% more from Ederson. Chelsea are very suspect for defensive returns and Silva with no KDB and the low ownership looks very enticing.

Tomkins, mane, zaha, king -> chillwell, mhki, auba, ings (8 pt hit)

Hi all, some advice would be appreciated on whether to take a -4....

I really like my team, and don't feel like I NEED another transfer, however I always intended on getting Mkhi in for BSilva as I think he'll outscore over the next 6 GWs. I've already made a transfer, so will need to take a hit to make the swap this week. If I take a -4 today I can beat the Mkhi price rise, then I will have 0.5 ITB which COULD be really useful. It would allow me the flexibility to upgrade Tompkins/Doherty to a 5.0, Cairney to a 5.5 (Fraser?) or Mitrovic to a 7 if he doesn't fire (although I'm hopeful of good returns).

But my team is doing incredible (top 50k), so taking a hit feels a bit wrong and short term I think it will cost me (especially as BSilva could get returns v wolves). I feel like this is my first chance to get a top rank, so not wanting to take unnecessary hits, but maybe this is worthwhile for the long term? Would appreciate people's thoughts Here is my team:

          Foster / Fab
          Mendy / Robertson / Tompkins / Doherty / AWB
          Salah / Mane / Richarlison / BSilva / Cairney
          Aguero / Touson / Mitrovic

You've got a good rank. If you believe that you'll score more points obver the next 6 do it. The points totla you have thus far is a good buffer.

Guys, looking for advice of the playing 4.5 midfielders which I need to bring in on a FT to free up some cash. Does anyone have an opinion on who I should bring in to sit on my bench? They're listed below. They'll likely be my second/third sub but with 3 city and 3 liverpool I can see them needing to come into play once European football starts.

Guendouzi ARS (punty - any Aresnal fans reckon he'll keep his place for the course of the season)

Stephens BHA (looks likely to drop to 4.4 but likely to play for the season and gauranteed 2 pointer)

Westwood BUR (I know little about him)

Billing HUD (I know little about him)

Masuaku WHU (I'm a West Ham fan and I can see him being dropped as we find an ideal team)

Oriol Romeu SOU (another gauranteed 2 pointer)

PS these are 4.5 mids who have started both games. If I've missed anyone let me know.

1st one is injured. Probably won't risk a trsnafer right now.
2nd one I odn't much about. Will he play, does he offer much as an FPL option?

Westwood probably carries the greater goal threat out of that selection. Can you squeeze up to a 5.0?

Thanks for your comments above, apologies for the delayed reply I'm based down under and fell asleep!

To be honest I've not done a lot of research into the 4.5 mids, so would struggle giving advice on the individual players.

If they will be high up your bench with a real possibility of playing, I would prioritize playing time over possible attacking returns. You would have to get so lucky to get the weeks the punts do score/assist, and are more likely to miss out on the 2 points for them playing. If you can stretch to a 5.0 this would be safer (what I have done with Cairney), but I am wondering if I could/should be using that 0.5 elsewhere...

The other option would be to go for Hudson-Odoi, who will likely never play but would give you an extra 0.1 to invest elsewhere. Could be useful to protect against a price drop?

I have done some analysis on people who have a top 1k rank and at least 3 seasons in the top 5K (144 players in sample). The top two 4.5 mids in this group are Stephans from Brighton (29.17% ownership in sample) and Gunnarsson from Cardiff (7.64% ownership in sample).

Anyway, I hope this helps! Thanks for your advice.

          Agüero

          Mahrez + Neves / Cairney > Miki / Pedro / Richarlison (combination of 2 from the 3)

Mahrez could be a differential in my league but worried about rotation

          Potential transfers: (Got 2ft)

          PVA > Alonso + King > Ings + Bilva > Mkhi

Is this worth the hit? I am worried I am being far too kneejerky

I think Morata will become essential at some point this season. Has looked good in the first two games (general play, not FPL wise), and Chelsea are scoring well.. combine that with a 9m pricetag, and I think it's a matter of time

He's a world class striker playing in an attacking team for just 9m. If he gets some form / confidence, definitely.

            Big if though 😉
