The Captain Poll is now open for votes ahead of Gameweek 3 and you can watch our video on the best candidates for the armband below or on our YouTube channel.

The early favourite is, not surprisingly, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) who faces a very appealing home match against a Brighton side, who are notoriously poor on the road.

The Seagulls shipped nine goals in two league matches against Liverpool in 2017/18, four of them at Anfield in Gameweek 38. The Egyptian netted in that match and provided the assist for Dominic Solanke’s (£5.0m) 53rd minute goal too.

His case is, of course, strengthened by being Liverpool’s biggest goal threat against Crystal Palace on Monday night, even if he only managed two assists in the end.

Sadio Mané (£9.8m), owned by 31 percent, should prove a strong alternative candidate bearing in mind he is a must-have option for the 45 percent of Fantasy managers who do not own Salah, and remains ahead of him for both goal tally and FPL total score.

Either way, Liverpool assets are expected to dominate the captaincy debate this week considering that West Ham were the only top flight side to survive relegation in 2017/18 with more shots conceded on the road than Brighton.

Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.1m) hat-trick against Huddersfield on Sunday will naturally give him some backing for the captaincy this week, as Manchester City prepare to travel to the Molineux.

Wolves may have allowed fewer shots on their goal than any other side so far, but the fact that have still conceded four goals in two matches suggests there are areas to exploit for the reigning champions.

Aguero might be at slightly more risk of rotation this weekend but we will, as per usual, wait and see what emerges in the press conferences later this week.

After four assists in just two matches, the highly-owned Benjamin Mendy (£6.1m) is an option for a second week running. In fact, he finished third in the poll behind just Aguero and Salah for Gameweek 2.

After West Ham’s performance at Anfield in Gameweek 1 and a defeat at home to Bournemouth in Gameweek 3, Arsenal assets might also be worth looking at. The favourites there are expected to be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m).

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur’s meeting at Old Trafford reduces the appeal of a few usual suspects, namely Paul Pogba (£8.1m), Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Alexis Sánchez (£10.5m) for the Red Devils and Harry Kane (£12.5m) and Christian Eriksen (£9.5m) from the north London outfit.

Don't have either but I'd said before this GW that Dilva was the main man, first name on the teamsheet especially with KDB out, I cant afford him but would love to have him in my team.

      No.

We bought Bilva for a reason. He also has great fixtures. Arguably better ones even over the next 3. If he scores that toe poke at the weekend nobody would be making this move.

No - Mkhitaryan isnt more nailed than B Silva and plays for a team which will score less goals.

I've gambled on Mikhi, don't have Bilva but understand he could be gold this year at that price, time will tell if I've missed a bandwagon ... I'm spending the extra 0.5 in defence ...

      Yes.
Although Silva plays for better team with great fixtures he is not as offensive as we could think. Plays deeper or as with Huddersfild on RWB
Miki though inspite of 2 really hard fixtures is the most creative player in PL now. Plus more shots than B.ilva.

Just got my tickets for Fulham vs Burnley on Sunday, I am a UTD fan but its bank holiday and fancied a bit of footie.

Area P2 if you are in there give me a shout.

Might have to do King --> Mitrovic to have something to shout for haha!

anyone else considering a Triple Captain this weekend? Salah? Last year's Kane TC fail makes me feel like early in the season with little to no rotation risk against teams who aren't yet under pressure to perform could work out safer/better... thoughts?

yeh I hoarded all of mine till final gameweeks last season and built my entire teams around double GWs, only for that to end up completely ruining me. Think this season my one takeaway is balance, all eggs in one basket doesn't usually end pay off.

Yeah it is a total sucker punch.Last season was a nightmare with players getting rested etc in the final run in.
Killed off a lot of what i was banking on too.
WorldCup may have played a part in that too.
I'm still going to be cautious.
TC last week on Aguero would have seen me just outside the top 1000

I plan to ditch BSilva to Mhiki to cover Arsenal and while city look great, i'm not convinced bernardo will be involved in too many goals and assists.

With city run I still feel 3 x players is essential. I have Kun and Mendy. Out of of interest, who is everyone next choice of city player?

    Personally, leaning towards Ederson

    1. Robson-Canoe
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 3 months ago

I think Kun and Mendy are enough for now as the others are not nailed, if Sterling/Mahrez/Sane hit form, then we can consider one of them

The point that you don't know which 3rd City player to pick voids the argument about a 3rd player being essential.

Advice appreciated guys. This is my team
    Ederson
    Robertson, Coleman, Shaw
    Salah, Siggy, Mane, Richarlison
    Zaha, King, Aguero
    Hamer, Cook, Ward, Wan-Bissaka

Which looks better? - I've two I really want to shift: Shaw and King.
    1) Coleman and King to Mendy and Ings (-4)
    2) Shaw (who I really want to shift), Siggy and King to Mendy, Mkhitaryan and Ings (-8)

-8’s should only be done in the worst possible scenarios. Shaw will probably get you returns after Monday tbh.

    Here's a half-baked idea I have. Worth a WC to do A to B after GW3?

    A
    Kepa Hamer
    VvD Mendy Chambers Peltier AwB
    Salah Bilva Mkhitaryan Richarlison Fraser
    Firmino Kun Jimenez

    B
    Ederson Hamer
    Robo Mendy Alonso Bennet AwB
    Mane Pedro Mkhitaryan Richarlison Kante
    Kun Aubameyang Ings

    Cheers!

Henny's playing really well. Want him for Pickford but I'm worried about Guaita too.

if you only needed 10 players it'd be good I guess.

you need an 11th decent player.

I love it. Exactly the structure I am thinking of. Aguero and Auba up fron with those fixtures looks awesome.

Only things--- risky to have Hart with potentially no back up? Both him and Hamer risky picks

Looks a great team right now ... not sure on Robbo as the fixtures stiffen soon and then European games [and possible rotation] come into play .... maybe TAA which gives enough itb to replace one of your 4's and the 4.5 with better bench options .... maybe a 4.5 def and a 5 mid.

    So would appriciate some thoughts.

    On WC

    Would you go:

A: Salah, Hazard, Miki, Aguero, Wilson

B: Mane, Hazard, 5,0 mid, Aguero, Auba

I'm a bit scared of not owning Auba for upcoming GWs but at the same time I feel I can't transfer out Salah cause it's just a matter of time until he scores big and then I think he will be back to last season form. Also Miki have created a lot of chanses and seems nailed.

    What do you think?

Auba yet to hit the form. Mkhi for now is a better pick. So A.

        Thanks.

That's my thinking as well, could do salah and wilson to auba and 5,0 later I suppose. Though it would be nice to have auba in the beginning of these "easy" upcoming fixtures if he scores big against a confusing west ham defense.

    What to do with Jota/Cairney/King?

    0 ft's

Have enough for Jota > Mhki (have Auba).
Feel like King>Zaha next week maybe (could see King netting, and will be his final chance in my side).

    Thoughts?

    G2G this week?

    Begovic
    Mendy, Robertson, Lowton
Salah (C), Mane (VC), Richarlison, B Silva
    Kun, Ings, Zaha

    Ryan, W Hughes, R Bennett, Wan-Bissaka

    1m ITB - 199 points and Overall rank 3584

Think I am in a good place, but love to know thoughts on strengthening!

Great team, think only two areas to strengthen are Lowton and keepers. Burnley will struggle this season with Europa league (take it from a Saints fan) and Bournemouth/Brighton won't see many shutouts at all.

I'd consider Tomkins for Lowton, and if you can afford Ederson for one of your keepers or downgrade one to Hamer for more cash.
