This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If anyone succeeds to make a decent looking wc team with Kun, Auba and Salah then I will be thankful.

It's not impossible at all. Very doable.

I'm trying to get Salah, Auba, Aguero and Hazard. That's much harder!

            Hennessey, Hamer
Mendy, Alonso (or Robertson), Bennet, AWB, Stankovic
            Kante, Richarlison, Fraser, Hazard, Salah
            Auba, Aguero, Kamara
This is can be done with the 1.5 price increases I have so far

Yeah, easily doable. But surely you don't have Mane? I think the choice is between those two.

Mane is not essential regardless what people tell you, if he was leading captain polls maybe, but if not, how is 10 points from Mane more damaging than 10 points from Auba?

If you score 60 a week without Mane and a Mane team scores 60 a week with him, his ownership level means nothing.

Yea, agreed. That's why I've considered it. Would look like something like this:

                4.5 4.5
                6.5 6 5 4 4.5
                13 7 6.5 5.5 5
                11 11 5.5

Bench would be really good but do I really want to double up on Arsenal (Mkhi could still be Bilva easily but not Dilva)

Mane is still a good option for next 4 at least but the problem is if we are not getting Auba in now, the only way to get him for the run is to drop Aguero. And that doesn't sound good either.

Are you on a WC? If so (like me) isn't this the perfect time?

If you think about it, if you mean too heavily towards the current template, when loads activate theirs in GW4 and bins this group, we'll be stuck with them, Auba will be part of the GW4 template but we are getting the first couple of fixtures early before he is indeed template.

Can't read too much into displays against City & Chelsea, the season starts now for Arsenal.

Yeah, I am. Wouldn't say it's the perfect time to do it though but not as bad as some are making of it. Gives a bit of confidence that some fpl managers with great track record went for it as well.

Honestly I would've rather have started with Mane and Rich and sort it with 2 FTs haha. But I just looked at my team on Saturday and went for it (team linked on profile page). Too many of my players were going down in price and more than few I wanted going up. I could've sorted some of it with -4 but it wasn't good enough.

Read that you are considering both Robbo and TAA. Seems a bit weird given their midterm run of fixtures. Is there an exit plan for Robbo?

Also how much you'll put on your bench given such an early WC? Think I'll have a full playing bench (AWB Kante 4.5 or something like that) and go for Henny/Ryan rotation for goalies.

When it's right, it's right, it's Wed night and so far I've stopped 3 drops and bought players .5 cheaper as they've all risen since I bought them, that's why I play it now, to control TV & get on the bandwagons/fixture swings because the important one is the second one.

TAA can be benched in their hard fixtures for Wan Bissaka, Robbo can get attacking returns against anyone IMO.

I plan to have two playing subs plus whatever Kamara brings, he started at the weekend.

      4.5 4.0
      Alonso Mendy TAA WB 4.0
      Salah Dilva Mkhi Richarlison 4.5
      Aguero Auba 4.5

The problem with this is you have to play Wan-Bissaka or one of your 4.5s every week. But yes, with Ings/Fraser I like this.

You need 2 premium captain picks, 3 max, then spread the funds elsewhere.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking 4 premium and cannon fodder elsewhere is a better team!

Can't see why. Seemingly nailed and cheaper then other options who are competing for limited places. His price reflects his potential returns but in a free scoring City side he's not a bad pick.

That's exactly why I've done it, for the .5, plus I see a Bilvablank against Wolves, who have been very unlucky so far to concede so many. Wolves will be a defensive powerhouse at home. Arsenal will wake up now with Laca in the team and to me, Mkhi's more nailed than Bilvy.

This is an interesting line up - how does it all work in terms of prices? Assuming you didn't buy any of the players after their prices (may) have gone up, the squad costs:

      Ederson (5.5m)
      Mendy (6m) Robertson (6m) Alonso (6.5m)
      Salah (13m) Mane (9.5m) Mkhi (7m) Richarli (6.5m)
      Auba (11m) Aguero (11m) Zaha (7m)

      That's a total cost of 89m.

You also have a 0.5m ITB. That means your bench is (100 -89-0.5) = 10.5m

How do you pick 4 players to put on the bench to cost an aggregate 10.5m?

depends on your team. If you got 11 decent players and aren't depending on exact 7.0 price, I'd wait. Otherwise 4 pts could be worth it.

          1. Gazpilicueta
            • 12 Years
            8 years, 4 days ago

I have Jota in my starting 11, so I would say I have 10 decent players.

            1. Robin Cook
              • 8 Years
              8 years, 4 days ago

In that case, I'd be tempted to take Mkhi back in - ideally for Jota. I'd predict Jota 1 pt while Mk could easily end up with 5, so you could have had him back for free (if things go as predicted). Effectively, it only would have been one wasted transfer then (taking mk out). Taking him back may pay off and thus not be wasted.
Also, Mk likely to rise and Jota may further decrease, in case you were thinking of swapping those 2.
But do whatever gut tells you.

Point taken, how would you spend the 1.5 on the bench?

I think your squad is perfect like that. 🙂 Maybe Mitro to Ings if you really want to upgrade stankovic.

How come Stankovic over Bennett? Isn't Stanovic just a replacement for Zanka who should be back this week.

He’s been injured and from what I hear Wagner likes him a lot so just seeing how it goes. Bennett isn’t much better but will keep an eye it. I will probably change it before the start of the gw

Welcome any help, and even better some rationale

      Ings better upside
      Mitro more nailed

I would get the one from whichever team you think will score the most goals. I fancy Fulham will get more goals than Southampton over the next 4 gameweeks based on what I have seen of them over the first 2 gameweeks. Ings is also on loan from Liverpool so can't play against them in GW7.

Watching the "All or Nothing" series, it amazed me how often Bilva popped up with an important goal. It looks like Pep trusts him but uses him against the bigger sides where he needs an (even) higher work ethic.

Scored against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester, Burnley, Swansea, Brighton and Basel in the CL.

I wonder if he'll play centrally more this year. Can't see him playing RW with Mahrez being brought in.

Fixtures are still good, and he's playing right up Wilson. Would be nice for owners if King was now on pens.

Any advice on options for a midfielder 6.4 or less.
I want to get rid of Jota, but not sure who to go for, I need someone who gets minutes, and potential for attacking returns. articles? youtube vids? personally reccomendation?

6.4 Sessegnon (fixtures are not too good, but looked lively vs Tottenham, 1 assist so far)
5.5 Fraser (good fixtures, goal and assist so far)

Sessegnon has dropped to 6.4, which seems like good value

Milivojevic at 6.4. He was great value last season and has decent fixtures

Fraser is much cheaper and seems like he'll play every week

Milner at 5.5 could be interesting if he keeps taking pens.
