This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Had a pretty good start but just wildcarded...

    .........................................................Cech

    ..............................Pereira -- Alexander-Arnold – Mendy

...........................Salah (vc) – Kante – Richarlison – Mane

    ..........................................Jesus – Ings – Aguero (c)

.......................Subs: Hamer – Guendouzi – Lindelof – AWB

Cech or Pickford? is the main thing i'm fussing over. Hmmm.

Jesus? No way. Downgrade to Zaha and spent money on TAA to Robbo or upgrade Kante etc.
      Also not sure on Lindelöf.
Personally I would be surprised if Cech keeps his spot, as he looks way off.

      1. Evil Red

No faith in Jesus? Well I just got rid of Zaha so...Already got Trent...Yeah not that into Kante but he'll be a bench boy eventually...Lindelöf will be decent for the money I reckon. Cech's a risk yeah but those fixtures...hmmm...but yeah thanks mate I appreciate the feedback.

No, I don’t think Jesus is worth it before we know more on who starts and hasn’t looked lethal yet and is in semi-poor form.
Yeah I know TAA is there, but I think the 1m spent on Robbo will be worth it.

Cech looks way off? Nah. He's made 14 saves in two games for crying out loud. The Arsenal defence has been shocking, not Cech.

Agree to disagree then, I honestly don’t think he has been looking very comfortable with missed passes and goals he should have stopped.

No, you're right he's looked well dodgy as a sweeper keeper but has still made some fine saves tho

Agreed. But I’m just not sure it’s enough.
He’s 36 or something and they just paid around 20m pounds for his replacement. Even players are saying in the media Leno has what it takes etc. I think Cech will slowly be eased out during the season and will be used for cups etc.

It's not bad IMO. Cech probably is a risk - maybe go with Pickford. Rest of the defence looks good. I think most of the criticism is a bit harsh - there's nothing wrong with ploughing your own furrow. Though I wouldn't pick Jesus myself, it'd be foolish to write him off.

      1. Evil Red
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 4 days ago

Yeah I hear you mate. Dem the risks we take to get ahead I suppose...I may well bottle it and go for the safe pick-ford (see what I did then?) in the end. Zaha was cast out and Jesus has arisen. He's capable of banging in hat-tricks this season imo. Zaha isn't.

Excuse a repost, short of time! Think I will need to take a -4 to get a team out?

    Ederson
    Robertson Mendy Christie* (FUL)
    Salah Neves Mane Richarlason
    Auba Aguero Ings

    Hamer Schnerlin Wan-B Pelitier 0FT 0 ITB

    Plan is
A- Christie (didnt start last week) to Cedric (will wait as he might drop to 4.4)
    B- Something else
    C- Hold
Longer plan is hope that Kante does not rise and get for Neves next week

    Thanks for any input.

TM, I’m assuming You’re kind of an expert on price changes.

Is there a difference in the threshold of a change based on whether it is the second in a week or if it happens 1 time two weeks in a row?

Thanks. So a second price rise need double the amount on a Friday than it does the next day in a new GW?
What happens then if it has almost reached the amount needed for a second in a GW and the threshold lowers at the change to a new GW ?
          Hope it makes sense

              Thanks a lot.

If you have the time, I would love to ask you a final question.

Does a price change threshold rise and rise the further away the price is moving from the starting price?
Someone told me it was based on a percentage of owners, But that would mean that it takes less and less sales for a Fall and more and more buys for a rise (No matter the starting Price)?
              Cheers

Etheridge's ownership has increased by 102,719 and he hasn't risen, yet Sema's ownership has decreased by 1,210 and he's fallen. The thresholds can be cruel.

Increases depend on percentages of the total number of teams, decreases on percentages of the player's ownership.

        Sema only has 0.1% ownership.

I know, and it makes sense, but an ownership increase of 950% not causing a change while a decrease of 21% causes a change looks harsh on owners of both players. Jota and King sellers had to do it on Sunday and Monday because prices drop so fast.

    Three to start out of

    Van Aanholt (wat)
    Gudmundson (ful)
    Mitrovic (BUR)
    King (EVE)
    Ings (LEI)

RMT tool says the three forwards with Gudmundson just behind King in fourth, essentially the same predicted score.

You have the frontline of Mitrovic - King - Ings ?

I'm wondering how the rest of money is spent.

I'd surely play Mitrovic and King. PvA & Ings are 50:50.

Mitrovic was my first choice. I'm currently lowest on PvA as I tip Watford to score at least once.

Probably not WC, but thought I'd mess around to see what I could come up with.

    4.5/Hamer

    WB - AA - Smith - Bennett - Mendy
    Salah - Richarlison - Hazard - Mikhi - Hudson-Odoi
    Aguero - Aub - Kamara

Plan would be to swap defenders every week and keep attack as is for the most part.

Could do so much more if Salah was Mane and I had got on him (and price rise) earlier on... prob could still do a lot more now if Mane was Salah and could get Alonso in at the back and upgrade Kamara to Ings.

    1. NATSTER
      • 15 Years

I don't like the look of both Hudson and Kamara in my attacking squad.

One is ok, but two is probably too much.

Me neither...would be stuck with Hudson with this team because of his damn price drop otherwise I'd have any other 4.5! That's why the plan would be to play 4-4-2 most weeks and just try and rotate defenders to catch the good fixtures.

Like I said though seems this team could be so much more flexible if I went Mane over Salah

    Fabianski

    Mendy Robertson A.Smith

    Salah (C) Mkhitaryan Richarlison Pedro

I have been observing them as on my watchlist. They move close to -100 and then reset to -90/-95 each day. There are a lot of wildcarders so a fair few transfers out wont count towards the target, but fplstats has no way of knowing in advance who they are (unless you use their form and tell them, but then 5mln people are going to do that)...

I think Bellerin drops on Saturday, auba maybe not at all if he performs

I have already taken a -12 point hit for GW3. This is my current team:

    Patricio
    Alonso Robertson Mendy
    Salah(C) Mane Mkhi Richarlison Pedro
    Aguero Ings
Subs: Button, Jimenez, Tomkins, Wan Bissaka!

I wanted to hold my WC until GW 12/13 as there are 10 fixtures within a month gap then. So, should I hold my WC and let it go with -12 point hit. Or change Patricio-Button-Jimenez to Ederson-Hamer-Kamara? And maybe Mane-Pedro to Hazard-Fraser? Any thoughts are appreciated. I'm currently on 180 points in total. If I took that -12 point hit, I'll be on 168 points (133K OR).

Cheers! I just wanted a Burnley defender. If they can perform like last year then they are a bargain for 5m. The good thing is £5m is a good budget for a replacement if they don't turn out to be as solid at the back as last year.

Yeah I agree that They are good value if They perform like last year.
Personally I stayed away from them, as I didn’t know how much EL would affect them.

Fair. There is time yet though before the EL kicks off properly. I think the £5m bracket is difficult this year for defenders. The thing with Lowton is, I don't expect his price to drop as he has the lowest ownership of all four. I can't see Burnley doing a repeat of last week either on a regular basis.

If you want a Burnley def, stick with him ofc. A good option.

                  good luck 🙂

You cant get a better replacement for Stephens with the funds you have and as a fodder there is no reason to switch him.

If you have no other issues with your team you could switch Cairney with someone like Jorginho or Kante. Although it isnt exactly an upgrade imo.

Who wants a quick competition? Mark Sutherns is Wildcarding this week so I figured I would predict all of his 15 players. You can drop ur prediction under the comment and we will come back to check on this after he reveals his team this week. This is how I think he will Wildcard

    Foster, Fabianski

    Mendy, Alonso, Robertson, Wan Bissaka,

    Salah, Mane, Richarlison, Mkhitaryan, Pedro

    Aguero, Ings, Kamara

Although I didn't look if the price adds up but I'm pretty sure he'll select 13 of the 15 above.

He is comparable on pts per minute but Kun should get a lot more mins than him this sesson , so unless he starts every game next to Kun the 0.5 saving won't be worth it.
