This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

1 FT this week, already used one on Cairney to Kante (thought Cairney was going to drop midweek).

I am delighted with my team and see no further changes needed apart from my keeper - Patricio.

Should I change him to another 4.5 (maybe Hennessey) or roll the transfer.

I have Hamer in the sticks this week if he isnt sacked off with Rui om the bench.

    1. Amsterhammer
      8 years, 1 month ago

      Roll

    2. Demel
      8 years, 1 month ago

Definitely roll. Rui will get some save points this week. Unless a real stand out keeper emerges then 4.5m keepers should be hold and forget.

    3. DJDave1979
      8 years, 1 month ago

Roll. Keeper points are usually fairly limited anyway and you are giving away the clean sheet in hits.

It's people like you that make me scared. Still have Cairney, don't want him to fall. He looked decent last game and has BUR. Don't see why I should ditch him until next week.

Sorry! I didnt want to shift him, especially with a tored Burnley next.

But with the possible drop, I couldnt afford losing that 0.1 otherwise the other 5m options would have been gone.

He isnt taking any set pieces as I had hoped which doesnt help either.

I feel like Sterling is highly, highly overlooked.

    Does anyone agree?

    1. #FPLBhuna
      8 years, 1 month ago

yep and now that i've binned him after wildcarding and having him last week - he's basically going to bag a brace

    2. Demel

I feel like Sterling is highly, highly overrated.

      Does anyone agree?

I am willing to gamble on him and potentially switch to Hazard when the time comes.

In FPL terms or football terms?

        1. Demel

FPL. I like him as a footballer (and I am talking about as an 11m player - people went crazy over him last week).

          1. Amsterhammer
            8 years, 1 month ago

Agreed. At that price you want a Captaincy option and nailedness. I don't think he offers either.

        Think he's overpriced.

    3. Amsterhammer

I think we need a few more GWs worth of data. He's 11 mill now and I'm not even sure how nailed he is bc it looks like Pep is using wingers slightly differently this season.

    4. Thinkering like a Boss
      8 years, 1 month ago

Highly overlooked because for me he is overpriced for someone who not nailed. If he play every week, im sure everyone will have him.

    5. korbendallas82

No. He is good. But there is so many cheaper options, performing.

Hope so. Got him in our auction last night. Got Vardy also, deter.

    10. MikeBravo
      8 years, 1 month ago

Not good value. Especially compared to Mane, Richarlison, etc. Overrated definitely for England -
despite all his 'runs', the most basic stats don't lie, 2 goals in 44 caps. Not good enough for England. That's not racist, Ian Wright, that's the stats. Poor, Ian, very poor.

      1. Andy_Social
        8 years, 1 month ago

Well that's nonsense. Sterling will rack up plenty of points this season - maybe not quite as many as last.

It's simply his price that deters me - I've forked out the equivalent for Aguero and gone for more nailedness in Mendy and Ederson.

    11. MikeBravo
      8 years, 1 month ago

Hence, not good value compared to others.

    12. jtreble

Agree. He and/or Auba could rip apart many teams that have “template” WCed already.

  3. #FPLBhuna

    A) alonso + awb
    B) bellerin + taa

      What position sub is AWB?

      1. #FPLBhuna

he's likely to be 1st sub (other 2 are guendouzi + masuaku) (yes really)

        1. Demel

For a sub option I would go A. But I would look to upgrade Guendouzi asap.

Worth getting in ozil for bilva? Could be a good differential if he comes good.

    1. #FPLBhuna
      8 years, 1 month ago

      no chance

ozil is more likely to be benched this week after the appalling attitude he has shown in the first two games - I strongly believe he gets benched for laca

He’s not looked good, just get Mkhi and have some funds to play with.

    3. Demel
      8 years, 1 month ago

He could well be benched. There are a lot of good differentials at that price. Pogba, Mikhi (still a bit of a differential), Gross, Maddison etc. Ozil for me is not one.

I’m currently on wc and on A. Liverpool’s next 3 and Palace’s fixtures look too good to ignore.
Not feeling Southampton at all. Although I fully expect Auba to do well, himself & Arsenal haven’t shown they’re worth investing that kind of outlay so I’ve gone with Mikhi currently.

not sure of Bailey in the long term after last week performance

any ideas of who I could replace him with. 5.5m+0.5ITB?

    1. Demel
      8 years, 1 month ago

I have Bailly and have been weighing the same thing up. Bellarin is a good option. So are the Spurs full backs. However, United have a good run of games coming up and when Jose takes a kicking the first thing he tends to do is sure up the back line. I would hold for the moment.

      1. Chockky
        8 years, 1 month ago

Thank you. had a feeling Jose may drop him for smalling. im benching him this week and bring in Lowton ( may be a bad call after Europa league)

        1. Demel
          8 years, 1 month ago

He may drop him. If he does then we both know which player we will be looking to transfer out. I think we will also see if United look to be tighter at the back. Having a United defender may prove to be a good differential.

          1. Chockky
            8 years, 1 month ago

I agree. I think they will improve defensivly and like you say Jose is known to Knee Jerk react after a bad display and park the bus for a few games to steady things

                8 years, 1 month ago

You could well be right. If you are then I will likely trade Bailly > Jones. But we will know more after the weekend. For now I will hold and play Jimenez if Bailly is benched.

King to Mitrovic for a min 4 this gameweek or next week for a free transfer ? Because I Think mitrogol can make 2 goals against a tired burnley side after European football.

  8. pedjaaaa

Do you think getting Alonso for a -4 hit is worth it?
Current my defense is not good.
Mendy - Peltier - Robertson - Bednarek - Wan Bissaka

    3. J ⚒ Gimme ur Mané
      8 years, 1 month ago

      Who cares?

I say that because regardless of fixtures, Arsenal look awful at the back. Much better options elsewhere at the 5.5M bracket IMO.

  10. TurboTastic!
    8 years, 1 month ago

I was almost set on having Hazard, Guendouzi and Ederson (have Aguero and Mendy).

But then I started to think if Dilva and Pedro might be a better combination, if both nailed (but then I can't have ederson). Also would have to bench Wilson or Ings every gameweek I think as my midfield then would be; Dilva- Salah-Richarlison-Pedro-Miki

If I go with the Hazard team then it will be easy to bench Guendouzi almost every GW and will always have to hope that either wilson or Ings doesn't score. And also don't know which keeper to have.

    What do you thinkk?

    1. Demel
      8 years, 1 month ago

I think....Do not go anywhere near Guendouzi in a wildcard team.

      1. TurboTastic!
        8 years, 1 month ago

OK, but it's just a 4,5 fodder, plus he seems nailed.

But you're saying the Pedro Dilva combination may be better?

        1. Demel
          8 years, 1 month ago

No. I would downgrade Ederson (or a defender/striker) and upgrade Guendouzi. I don't see him at all as nailed. Fraser would be the best bet but a player like Kante or Neves are also fine options.

          1. Corgz Dark side of the Loon
            • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Do not downgrade Ederson.......he will outpoint Degea this year

            1. TurboTastic!
              8 years, 1 month ago

Yeah that's what I'm thinking plus pretty easy fixtures right now, problem is if he concede he will probably only get 2-3 points, and a goal can come so easily. But I think I will go with the Hazard-Guendouzi-Ederson team (though I like Dilva, but not sure if nailed). And then maybe switch later. But I can't really decide 🙂

          2. TurboTastic!

£1m in the bank. 1 FT. Where would you upgrade? Or save the FT.

I plan on sticking with Eriksen.

    Foster – Ryan

    Mendy – Robertson – Ward – Daniels – Tomkins

    Salah – Eriksen – Pedro – Richarlison – Cairney

    Aguero – Zaha – Ings

    1. Chockky

Guys I have 2 FT and was thinking of the below:
    1. Bednarek > Cook
    2. Sanchez > Alli

Leaving me with 0.7m ITB to upgrade Speroni to a 4.5m keeper next week?

    Thought please?

    1. TurboTastic!
      8 years, 1 month ago

Seems like a good move, Alli could be good this year, who is your other keeper?

      1. damiang2233
        8 years, 1 month ago

        Fabianski

        1. TurboTastic!
          8 years, 1 month ago

Yeah ok, Think it's a good plan then. But maybe do Sanchez to Alli and Speroni to other 4,5 kepper now, (West ham difficult fixture now) preferably someone that rotates Fabianski difficult fixture. Then do bednarek to someone next GW

          1. damiang2233
            8 years, 1 month ago

Ya was thinking that too. I only want to get in a 4.5m keeper and at the minute I am unsure who. There are lots of options:

            1. Hart
            2. Hennessey
            3. McCarthy
            4. Ethridge
            5. Begovic
            6. Fabri
            7. Foster
            8. Patricio

Dont know whos the best option out of the above?

            1. TurboTastic!
              8 years, 1 month ago

I think Hennessey is the best, Palace look good this year. And he rotates quite well with Fabianski (i.e. having easy fixtures when Fab have difficult ones).

Second maybe Fabri, who makes a lot of saves but Fulham concedes a lot of chances.

i would go with Hennessey for the long run!

  14. FCSB
    8 years, 1 month ago

    Patricio
    Robertson Luiz Mendy
    Salah Bilva Mane Richarlison
    Aguero Zaha King

    Stek Masuaku Wan-B Tomkins

    2 FT, 0 ITB

What to do here?? Essentially have a throwaway transfer...

    Thoughts please ???

    Thanks....

Stek to Hamer. Hamer is currently a playing 4m so if a last minute injury to Pat happens there are a chance of points

Is it me, or are we seeing quicker price rises this year? Has FPL algorithm been tweaked?

Don’t think I’ve ever had a squad value of 101.1M after two gameweeks....

Wierd thing is, certain players just seem to be out of control with their rises. Mane gaining 0.1 close to every 48 hours 😆

To get Alonso, or not to get Alonso... He burned me twice last season as I got him in after two of his purple patches and then he did nothing but lose in value for weeks.

Will he keep this up? new, BOU, CAR, whu should result in at least one CS and some attacking returns.

Getting him in now for a FT would probably mean I won't get Mendy until GW5 without hits.

    1. J ⚒ Gimme ur Mané
      8 years, 1 month ago

Haha I’m in the same boat as you! I always miss his hauls, then shift things around to bring him in, only for him to blank for weeks and weeks.

Right now I want him again, but just going to avoid until I wildcard.

Big commitment to get Alonso at 6.6 if he goes on a barren patch. I'm planning on getting Mendy over Alsono though as man city look better for clean sheets.

      1. teneighty
        8 years, 1 month ago

Cheers. Mendy do look a lot better for CS. NEW, FUL, car, BRI is as good as it gets for defensive returns.

Will probably hold fire to be able to do B. Silva + Tarkowski -> Mendy + someone for free next week.

    Foster
    Robbo Mendy Tomkins
    Salah Mane Mhiki Richarlison
    Mitro King Kun

    Patrico Cook McDonald AWB

Plan for next week with 2FT is King to Ings then Tomkins to Alonso, sound good on paper? (I know a lot can change in 1 GW)

    1. jia you
      8 years, 1 month ago

He's gone from my team after watching Trippier rob him of set pieces! That was a huge part of his appeal and now he seems considerably overpriced but time will tell!

      1. The Overthinker
        8 years, 1 month ago

Yeah. I might give him one more week, if he doesn't deliver against Manchester United, he is a goner. Alli looks more appealing . Or maybe Richarlison. But yeah giving him one last chance.

So, are we all in agreement that Hazard is likely to start this GW?

    Where's Powell?

    1. Chockky
      8 years, 1 month ago

I think from Sarri comments if he starts he will be early sub. he was saying how he isn't fully match fit yet and will be eased back.

      1. Andy_Social
        8 years, 1 month ago

Indeed, and that's good enough for me. He got assists from playing just a few minutes last 2 matches and should get more this GW. I'm on a wildcard and planning for the long haul, so I'm more than happy to bring him in now rather than wait and use up a transfer that might be needed to fix something else.

        1. Chockky
          8 years, 1 month ago

I agree with you and that approach. he does well even with minutes to play so when he has a full 90 he looks good to haul.

    2. The Overthinker

I haven't seen Powell this season yet

Final dilemma on WC is whether to go with a cheap bench or not?
What are fellow wildcarders doing bench wise?

    An example would be:
    A. 5.0m, Cook, AWB
    B. 4.5m, Bennett, AWB

    B. allows Mitrovic over Ings or Robertson over TAA.

The thing that's putting me off option B. is the lack of a decent 4.5 mid.
    Thoughts?

    1. Amsterhammer
      8 years, 1 month ago

I have the same dilemma. At the moment I'm thinking B. Not sure who my 4 will be. Maybe Peltier as Wolves forums suggest Bennet will make way for Dendoncker.

Mid will be the Arsenal guy or Stephens. Punt vs 2pts guaranteed.

      1. jia you
        8 years, 1 month ago

Didn't know much about Bennett's nailedness so thanks for that! But Peltier seems to have lost his place. Both that Arsenal guy and Stephens are not certain to keep their places either and it would be brutal to have a non-playing bench once UCL comes around! It's a tough one!!

        1. Andy_Social
          8 years, 1 month ago

my 2nd playing 4m defender is Stankovic.

    2. Andy_Social
      8 years, 1 month ago

      I'm on something similar to B - 2 playing 4m defenders, and a 4.5 striker.

As one 4m defender is Wan-Bis, he'll rotate with one of my 2 5m midfielders.

      1. jia you
        8 years, 1 month ago

Yeah Kamara looks good for the bench as he'll get minutes. AWB aside, no real nailed on 4.0 defenders and the 4.5 mid bracket is dross!

        1. Andy_Social
          8 years, 1 month ago

Indeed, so I've got Kante and Neves who will both at least play 90 mins week in week out.

Hi guys - current team is:

    Foster Fabianski

    Shaw Mendy Robertson WB Tomkins

Salah Mane B. Silva Stephens Richarlison

    Aguero King Arnautovic

2FT - thinking of doing King to Ings and B Silva to Mkhitaryan. Good moves?
