The Captain Poll is now open for votes ahead of Gameweek 4 and you can watch our video on the best candidates for the armband below or on our YouTube channel.

The early favourite is Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) who faces an appealing home match-up against Newcastle, a side he is very fond of.

The Manchester City striker has scored 11 goals in his last five home meetings with the Magpies and has already netted a hat-trick in front of his own supporters this season.

With the champions set for the most attractive fixture of the week, options such as Benjamin Mendy (£6.3m) will get consideration as well as David Silva (£8.5m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) if he can hold on to his place.

Also with an appealing match-up is Chelsea, who host the porous Bournemouth defence in Gameweek 4. The Cherries have only allowed two big chances so far in 2018/19, although that does include facing a goal shy Cardiff and they have still conceded three goals in as many matches.

Eden Hazard (£10.6m) is obviously the standout candidate with two assists and goal from just one start and two subsitute appearances in the first three Gameweeks of the season.

However, Pedro (£6.6m) is also an option for those unable to shoehorn the Belgian international into their sides.

As ever, Marcos Alonso (£6.7m) will form part of the conversation now that he has registered a minimum of 11 points in every match so far and has had more shots on goal than any other defender.

Of course Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) has to still be in the conversation as he’s joint-top for shots amongst all players and has created more chances than anyone else.

Finally nailed it... I think 😀

    WC team:

    Hennessey

    Robertson Mendy Alonso WB

    Pereyra Hazard Salah

    Aguero Mitrovic Zaha

    Bench: Begovic, Fraser, Bennett, Stephens

    Any changes I should make?

Midfield is too light. A lot of good options in the 6.5-7.5m bracket you’ll struggle getting on.

What do you mean "too light"? If he goes Hazard that is pretty obvious you won't have 7 mln midfielder. Not in this stage of the game. The budget is too low for that.

eh, I have Hazard, Salah and Aguero (also Mitro and Zaha) yet I have Mhiki + Walcott. Only difference is I don't have Alonso.

Yeah I know you can do it, but Alonso is in fact like 6-7 mln midfielder or even better. He can score as many as 6-7 mln mids plus has CS points and is BAPS magnet. So I would't see it as a big problem if you have 5,5 mid like Fraser who is pretty reliable. He may score more and less as many points as Miki

Looks like every WC team 😮

Cant see any fault, Bego-Hennessey's defense are not much reliable for CSs, so that combo might not bring many points

I wouldn't recommend double Palace defense
Zaha may become Wilson and you can invest in Walcott. Pereyra scores only at home. His next 2 at home are TOT, MUN. not really easy fixtures.

    Best option for wildcard?

    Ryan
    Mendy • Alonso • ___
    Hazard • Mkhi • ___ • ___
    Aguero • Zaha • Mitrovic

    (Button / Awb / ___ / ___)

    A) Salah, Fraser, Kante, TAA & Bennett
    B) Mane, D.Silva, 4.5 mid, TAA & R.Pereira
    C) Mane, D.Silva, 4.5 mid, Robertson & Bennett

    Appreciate your thoughts! 🙂

Crazy how much going Salah over Mane reduces the appeal of the other options. But I think he is worth it for the reliable captain option. Im not convinced that Aguero (rotation risk eventually surely) and Hazard (history of being a troll) are reliable enough to be your main captain contenders each week

He usually scores exactly one goal vs Bou.

Though I could also say he never makes an assist vs Bou and never has a big haul.

I missed the boat on Walcott as I'm too stubborn to bring him in at 6.7 when I could have got him for 6.5. I'd go for Wally though if cost/stubbornness isn't an issue.

      GTG for GW4?:

      Ryan
      Alonso, Mendy, Robbo
      Salah, Mane, Groß, Pedro
      Agüero, Mitro, Ings

Fabri, AWB, Pereira, Guendouzi (0.0 itb)

The only transfer I did was straight swap Rich -> Groß. Although it's not great to plan specific transfers ahead, I was thinking saving 2 FTs and then Pedro + Pereira -> Fraser + Ben Davies. What do you think?

        Surely Richarlison has to go.

Have to hold Tosun for the next two regardless (*injury or suspension), right?

He will start the next 2 home games. I'm tempted to keep him as I don't want to get punished #fixturesoverform

      The power back 3.

I get the love for Alonso, I do.

But I don't believe its justifiable to bring him in if you already have Robertson and Mendy. I think switching maybe Mendy to Alonso makes sense if you thing its only a matter of time before Mendy is rotated but I think having all 3 just ties too much up in defence and prevents you from moving on mids or forwards.

      Thoughts?

In the same boat. Feel like it’s loading up way too much and that sooner or later this great run will end or slow down. Thinking Trippier might be a more cost effective option over Alonso.

Mendy is as important as Alonso. Both will bring the points home.

I have TAA instead Robbo, somewhat enables Alonso + Mendy.

Agree. I currently only have Robbo from the power trio and I'd rather have Mendy than Alonso to go with Robbo.

Alonso is Walcott but with cleansheets and an extra point for a goal. On free kicks too. What's not to like?

He is a must have ! Thoughts on Salah to Hazard and Robertson to Alonso.

I think pre WC it's probably fine to do so because if premium or lots of mid-priced mids/forwards start firing you can always WC to get them in. But post WC I agree - i wouldn't want so much tied up in defence.

No, actually it's the best time to get all 3, because you have plenty of budget forwards, It's funny everyone was all over richarlison, now Walcott & Alonso is the same price, but you deem him expensive

Hey bro. I am thinking of bringing him in if Tosun and zaha don't perform next week. Wolves are really attacking and he could bring goals in both home and away matches ... especially (H)
