Patience is proving a virtue for the Scoutcast’s latest guest, FPL General.

With top 500 finishes in all but one of his last four Fantasy Premier League seasons, his track record of giving players time to perform has certainly paid off.

Undaunted by a poor start this season he is sticking resolutely to the game plan, with Christian Eriksen and Josh King already rewarding him with attacking returns last time out, while many thousands of others were jettisoning them.

He joins Andy, David and myself to mull over a tricky last set of matches and look ahead to Gameweek 4.

Replacements for Everton’s red card villain Richarlison kick off our community question session, which also takes in Chelsea stars, the seemingly unstoppable rise of premium defenders and Wildcard timing.

    Spurs defence line up confuses me, and I think their midfield is going to share points, so it's a sacrifice I think is worth while. Obviously Arsenal and ManU could suddenly get their act together and cause me problems, but I think that's a question of dealing with it if and when...

      Spurs defence is quite straight forward really, a Poch will rotate his full backs occasionally as he did when he managed Saints.
      Centre backs will generally be nailed.
      
      What a bit of business Moura was_Think they will really kick on this season.

May be the booze talking, but is there a reason why they can't set the game up in such a way that if your player rises or falls you gain that value? As opposed to this .2 rise gains you .1 SV?

Why not just make rises and falls occur less often?

  Really, they just need to make players drop more precipitously. I am okay with the 50% tax on gains, but it is really frustrating when highly priced players never drop to a reasonable value-purchase price.

Do you agree with my following rationale - I have to play 2 out of Shaw, WB, Wilson & Jimenez so I looked at the odds for each one:
Shaw cs = 50% so he's a definite starter
WB cs = 42% but with Tomkins out it will break up the Sakho/Tomkins partnership so I actually think Palace will concede so he's not a starter
Wilson to score = 26% v Chelsea away so he's not a starter
Jimenez to score = 35% v West Ham away. West Ham very suspect defensively. Jimenez scored v Everton, hit the post v Leicester & scored an offside goal (half a yard offside) v Man City so he's a starter.

Conclusion = start Shaw & Jimenez
WB 1st sub & Wilson 2nd sub

Do you agree. Thoughts & thanks.

  They should mean as you suggest but make of them what you will; overachievers could either mean that they are exceptionally scoring because they are exceptional players and will continue to score from scant chances created, or it could mean that they have just been very lucky. And the opposite with underachievers. This is where watching the games come in handy too.

  I prefer Aguero to Kane, but both are nearly impossible to fit in a decent squad and Kane is far from a bad alternative - nice team, although watch that bench - I don't know how long Hamer and Bennett will hold their spots.

  For a player to fall in price quickly i) teams need to be selling the player, ii) the player must be 100% available (i.e. not injured) and iii) the ineffective transfers must be low. The rate of change is significantly increased if the players current price is higher than at the season start
  
  yeah i think that it means red flag slower drop,but i do remember after getting flagged he dropped quit quickly hmmmm. maybe every drop after the first one takes more time to drop further.

Mane -> Dele for free to free up 0.6? Seems like a points wash and that 0.6 could be well used to upgrade elsewhere next week. Having watched all of Liverpool and Spurs matches so far, it looks to me like Dele is a little under his points potential and Mane is a little over. Thoughts?

    I do already have Salah.
    I saw 2 years ago as Dele's really good year and last year as a mean reversion. 2 years ago he scored 225, last year 175. Mane has never scored >160. I can really improve.
    
    However, this is probably a bad idea and I appreciate you talking me out of it.
