The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

    2 FT

    Madness to do Luiz/Pedro to Alonso/Kante?

      Yeah even for FTs I think it's silly especially since I think Pedro to Kante is a big downgrade. I think you'd wish you had them back over the international break

        Not sure what to do with this

        DDG (Lössl)
        Luiz, Mendy, Van Dijk (AWB, Daniels)
        Mané, Mkhitaryan, DSilva, Pedro (Stephens)
        Aguero, Zaha, Firmino

          Hmm you've got a lot of good picks. Firmino is really the only one I'd look to ship but lei isn't the worst fixture this week so isn't urgent.

          Firmino to Mitrovic and Daniels to Alonso

    They say never take a hit for a defender but does Alonso break that rule?

    Great chance of returns at both ends of the pitch in his next 3 (BOU, CAR, why). Or do we think a hit is risky for a player who has been somewhat fortunate to get his assists thus far?

    1. Castiel
      • 17 Years

      Nothing wrong with taking a hit for a defender, especially when they've decent potential for a number of weeks. You want him, go do it my friend!!!

        I either downgrade Richarlison in which case it'd be Tomkins (already have AWB)

        But if I go Richarlison to Walcott, it'd be for Robertson. I know that sounds like madness but he has an ok chance of a CS against lei and SOT but has tot, che and MCI over the next 5. Plus threat of UCL for rotation with Moreno.

      Alonso will scored more goals than Morata! Always a goal threat and a clean sheet a bonus.

    Ugh, sat here looking at Arnie, sitting on my bench for the second week in a row like a guy who’s about to score lots of points that I won’t get...for the second week in a row.

    I’m considering dropping TAA for him. Madness?

    Fab
    TAA, Alonso, Mendy, AWB
    Pedro, Bilva, Walcott, Mkhi, Salah

      I wouldn't say madness at all; Leicester isn't an easy away game anyway. Didn't check the odds but would assume chances of Liverpool keeping a clean sheet isn't rated very high.

        I didn’t, just made poor decision to stick Ings on instead last GW.

      I own Arnie but if I were you I'd probably go with Zaha:

      -better fixtures
      - I'm concerned about Arnie staying healthy as well (was forced off last weekend, which I'm sure you're aware

      What's in Arnie's favor though is pens (I would think he stays on them) and I feel like he picks up bonus better. If you look at Zaha's returns: two 5 pointers for games that he scored in? Kind of looks like a return you'd get from a cheap defender who picked up a clean sheet and yellow card.

      Hope that helps

    I swear richarlison's delta on fpl stats hasn't changed in hours. Does fantasy football fix or any other site you use have him dropping tonight? Thanks

      Slower due to suspension, then slows a lot more after first drop. Plus wildcard transfers don't count.

      Ings. Wolves may easily get a pen.

      Coleman for next 4 but Monreal for long term.

        I meant for Everton, as the fellow did not have an Everton player.

    2FTs - current squad as follows:

    Foster Fabianksi
    Robertson Mendy PVA AWB Peltier
    Salah Mane Bilva Richarlison Stephens
    Aguero Arnie Ings

    Thoughts on the following for a -4:

    Mane -> Hazard
    PVA -> Alonso
    Richarlison -> Neves

    Opinions appreciated!

      Wouldn’t do the first one and save the hit

    Choose one?

    A) AWB (SOU)
    B) King (che)

      King. Chelsea are more attacking this season, and King is on penalties.

    Anyone waiting until after next gameweek to get Hazard in? Maybe giving the Hazard the Bournemouth game as an audition?

    It's nonsensical but I'm considering waiting as I missed his 0.1m price rise.

      I'm still risking Pedro. Not prepared to sell Salah/Mane yet, or for a hit.

        I'd be selling Salah for a hit. It's bonkers when I write that, but I may still go ahead with it.

          Maybe I'm being blinkered by owning Pedro and hope, but while Hazard looked good last game just didn't see enough 10.6m goal threat to warrant the switch/hit. Could be totally different against not-Newcastle though.

            You're right. I can see Eddie Howe switching to a 5311 and stifling Chelsea somewhat. I'm leaning towards keeping Salah and re-considering next week.

        I would not have Salah and Mane in my team if I have A Liverpool defender
        2 players from the same team unless on a monster form.
        Don't be to hasty in making a transfer, first look at the fixtures and predict the score
        to see where the points will come from.

      I did it tonight, not waiting when he has Bournemouth at home.

        For me it's the Salah/Mané v Spurs(a) while Hazard has Cardiff(h). I can see a lot of transfers if Liverpool face a tough game against Leicester.

    I’ve got Pickford, Bilva, Eriksen, Richarlison and King, who do I downgrade to do Laca —> Kun (just off by 0.3)

      In terms of who I think you can get the most money out of without losing points - B Silva can be outscore by loads of cheaper players, as can Pickford

      Not a lot to swap Rich for unless you're happy sitting on a couple of mil for a week. Perhaps Bilva to Pedro, though Bilva is due a return.
