The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

Would you take a hit to get in a keeper or play it out with 10 men?

Unfortunately, I own a pair of Fabri + Hamer.

Planning a Mane to Hazard transfer before the deadline (for a hit) or might push it to next GW and do it for free. In either scenarios, I'll have to take a hit to get a keeper in or wait for 2-3 GWs to do it for free.

If you'd be without a keeper for 3 weeks Id take a hit. Even if its 3x2 its still more than a 4 point hit.

Yes Hurry, I'll have to make sure I get someone who offers fairly solid points over the coming weeks.

Man, some of these replies. If you're down to 10 men, take the hit and move on. Playing 2-3 weeks with 10 men is ridiculous. Worst case is like a -1 but the ceiling is so much higher and you sort out other issues.

I own Patricio but wish I had Ryan. You know you'll get 10 CS and saves from Ryan. We still don't know what Wolves are capable of. Skip Hennessey given Tomkins is a doubt.

That is because GK value not as explosive than def/mid/fwd. Still justify take hit for example in Aguero because he can be possible haul.

          I think Fedol makes sense.

I'm not taking a GK punt for just this week. I actually have no playing keeper as things stand.

Even if my keeper gets 2 x 3 points over the next 3 weeks, it's still a +2 considering the hit. Anything over and above that is a cherry on the top.

I have no one but myself to blame for this awful situation. I bought Fabri on my WC and I don't even have a justification for this.

Fair enough. Im too will take a hit tbh but I will make sure this week and above he can be cs + save point.

I would take a hit. Ryan or Hennessey look decent bets. It’s essentially only a 2 pt hit anyway.

H Costa might soon lose his place to Traore, Will Hughes at that price?

Mkhitaryan instead of Moura? I'd prefer getting long term nailed players if on WC which Moura isn't.

Fraser for Wally and keep some $ in the bank?

      Looks great otherwise.

Costa looked great vs City, I think he keeps his place for now.
Mkhi seems too "assist the assist" kind of guy, with Bellerin the one crossing the ball on the overlap. Moura more goal threat imo.
With those fixtures, Wally looks good. I dont mind doing Wally to Fraser down the line if it doesng work out.

Bennet looked good handling Sterling last week, not expecting too much for a 4'0m
Agree with Hennesey, unfortunately. Not sure which 4.5 to take though, with McCarthy not nailed either. Lossl perhaps, or someone else?

Taking Mane out for a hit to get in Hazard is mad?

I've rode my luck with Mane so far and have the exact cash to make the move.

Pretty confident that Hazard will outscore him over the coming weeks but Mane has an early KO and a double digit haul would be difficult to digest.

Yeah Watford have been off to a good start. Arsenal are so unreliable so for me it's between Tosun and Mkhitaryan. I could avoid headache and bench boost but idk if that's worth it. Tosun is a differential and I feel almost everyone will be playing a palace defender most likely AWB

Thank you! Going without Mané had me crapping my pants but it hasn't been so bad. I'm most worried about Lucas and Mkhitaryan performing this week.

Gee, why did you even get Walcott, assuming you got him this week. If not, why even give yourself such a dilemma with a 5.5m defender / 6.5m attacker benching. You won't be winning that battle no matter how you rotate.

who would you pick at 5.5 in defence for the next month? Keep in mind i have Hennessey and WB so PVA probably isnt an option. although i dunno. Other defenders are alonso mendy and holebas

    a) Laporte
    b) Monreal
    c) Pva anyway
d)Pereira(5.1) and upgrade keeper to pickford or cech
    e) other

    Morning DZ

Is this worth a -8 for this team

    Lindelof > Alonso
    Tomkins > Bellerin
    Richarlison > Fraser

or should I WC and do Ederson > Hennessy, Salah > Hazard and King > ST out as well

    Ederson Ryan

    VVD Alonso Bellerin Kabasele Cook

    Salah Moura Jorginho Sigurdsson Fraser

    Mitrovic Aguero King

    Any ideas would be welcomed

Depends if you need Alonso for this week? You could hold that transfer. -8 is justifiable but a -12 would be a WC imo

I love this question. I wish I had the time to aggregate all the answers to the dozens of times it's been asked over the last 5 days. I asked it and the resounding answer was King, but I've also seen the opposite response. I went with King, but who knows.

What? They have .2 in the bank! Surely can do better than Fraser for 6.9! I thin Walcott is the obvious one, but Pedro would be good too.

You don’t need to spend all your money...

At 6.9 I’d rather Groß. However, fixtures and having money in the bank sway me towards Fraser.

Yes looking back at numbers he is the best option. However, going forward, he and Willian will be sharing pitch time now that Hazard is back to full fitness.

Man Utd's next 5 fixtures look great. Shaw seems nailed for now based on Jose's remarks and good value at 5.1 (i got him at 5.0) in that defense.

Thanks, I will try it out. Need to go Shaw-->Bennett, 4.5 rotation keepers, and Mitrovic-->4.5 fodder.
My Bench in that case: 4.5 keeper, Bennett, Schneiderlin, 4.5 fwd, with Wan-Bis playing most weeks.
        I hate this game 😉

4.5 / 4.0 keepers. And Bennett up to a 4.5. Daniels is a good shout with his upcoming fixtures.

Interesting. Who'd be your 4.5 keeper that plays every week? In the entirety of last season, Ederson's total tally was only 1pt more than Fabianski. May be the lone premium set-and-forget keeper idea is over-hyped.

zaha to 5.5 (ings, jimenez, vietto)

Can't swing Wood to Zaha on the free. But yeah, Mitro's fixtures aren't the best, but don't seem that bad in the long run. Maybe I should just stick with Wood for one more at least and have 2FTs going into the break.

Yeah. Haven't got a chance to see him in action this season, but seems a full-90 him against BHA is better than a faltering, 70-minutes-at-best Wood vs Man U, even though Man U is a mess right now.

Thoughts on this team and does it need to be wildcarded yet??

MID: Salah, Mhkitaryan, B.Silva, Maddison (Cairney)
