The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

Completely, its a gamble playing 2 and if Wan Bissaka is performing like he did against Fulham than I don't think PVA is necessary. It could similar to TAA and Robertson. CP fixtures are very good: SOU hud NEW bou WOL. 3 CS there?

I mean, if there was a 4,5 mid who was a starter in one of the offensive roles, I think we would all have/play him.

Thanks - on the fence at the moment. Wan- Bissaka, Pereira, Mendy and Robertson is quite an appealing spread. Dropping Pereira for PVA this week is appealing but with Leicester's next 4 (bouHUDnewEVE) and with him playing left mid, he seems like a good choice over PVA (if I have Wan-Bissaka).

        1. Mino Raiola
          • 10 Years

make Pereira to Trippier, and I think thats the best possible spent money, even considering the odd man out on rotation.

I have both, but I'll be benching AWB this week and watching how he performs. If he looks like he will get the odd attacking return through the season in addition to any clean sheets CP get I'll downgrade PVA (or change him to Alonso) and have AWB as my only Palace defender.

I think thats the hope. He looked good in the last 2 games and at 4m just keeping a CS will be worth it. Especially with a lot of attacking options in defence this season.

      • 15 Years

Nah. Having AWB shouldn't really affect your decision-making on PVA. He's a 4.0 defender who plays, so almost everyone should and does have him. Personally I think PVA is a little overpriced, but if he goes on a goalscoring streak obviously it will work out for you.

Maybe. I think if AWB becomes a viable option - ie in your team most weeks/when fixtures permit. having 2 CP defenders might be too much. However, if you treat him as just a 4m playing def then I agree.

          • 15 Years

It's still irrelevant IMO. Having AWB won't make PVA score less points. Doubling up on defenses will lead to some boom or bust weeks but if you think they're both good picks individually, they're still good picks together.

Its more about spreading the risk . They kept 9 CS last season - so more bust than boom.

Yeah, that's why I think PVA is overpriced although he's perfectly capable of going on a hot streak. But having AWB shouldn't put you off him. At 5.5 he's too expensive to bench regularly anyway.

Rotation will happen between now and Christmas. Liverpool have a tough-run. I also don’t think he will be on every free kick, just share them.

Prefer pereira going forward during the CL period and is same price roughly.

      So basically :
      PVA,Bellerin or Tomkins.

I do like Bellerin because of Arsenal’s fixtures, but they look shakey so it’s probably a short term punt.

Long term Tomkins but he might not play this week. If you don’t need him to start this week then Tomkins. If not I’d probably chance my arm with Bellerin.

When I transferred him in I was adamant I’d get Richarlison back.

Thinking about it though, if Walcott performs over the next 3 I’ll be in no rush to get him out of my team.

Why are folk bemoaning the likes of Pedro, Walcott, Mkhi and Moura as options? They're 7m for a reason, not 9m+, you jump on them when they're being selected and showing some form. You then move onto the next one as fixtures swing.

Sometimes 7m become 9m the next season due to their performances. But more important : we don't have an infinite budget.

Yep, spot on. There should be a 6-7m mid that becomes 8.5m next season. Neves might do a Milivoyevic too.

True, they can be potential bargains with their fixtures.

It's sometimes useful to check a player's price history. Like Mkhi was 9m only two years ago, then I think 8m last year. I guess some ppl see Mkhi as a bargain now. Walcott has a similar story.

Agreed! Mkhi, Walcott and Pedro are underpriced if they start regularly.

Yep, rotation risk and recent history has clearly been factored into their price. But if they can avoid such baggage, they can of course rival other premium options at their clubs. I wouldn't be too surprised if Pedro outscores Hazard this week

    Am I good to go?

    Hennessy

    Alonso - Mendy - Robertson - WB
    Salah - Moura - Hazard
    Aguero - Zaha - Mitro

    Subs: Hamer, Fraser, Bennett, McTominay.

I figure if I stick to a template for now at least I'm not going to fall behind, though I'm open to taking a punt on a promising diferential.

Mitrovic has 3 home games in his next 9, but if this week is anything like last week, you'll score well.

It's one of those. Yes, he's probably had his purple patch and yes, you've probably missed it.

If you're planning on transferring him out after a few weeks if he doesn't score, then don't bother bringing him in. However if, like me, you're planning on keeping him for the season (bar injury) he's about as good a set and forget option as you could possibly hope for. Will contribute some big old scores from time to time.

Repost for the sake of the late night crowd:

I'd like to provide you guys with some hardcore Fulham fan information. The day before a game, if Bettinelli knows he's starting in goal, he posts a picture of himself on Instagram (marcusbettinelli). If he isn't playing, he doesn't. He does have a private account though, so those looking to get an advantage through this may need to give him a follow. It's been true for all games this season (he posted one just now, so assume he's playing tomorrow) and last season too.

Although can't imagine there are too many out there with Fulham keepers 😆
